  1. Oh, that is true. It feels "granulated", since it takes a lot for me to get 10 points and then suddenly I get 100+ points on the table on the last turns. I thought you meant that they were overpowered (which was not my impression). I get what you mean
  2. I never found that a problem. Isn't the number of casters, and therefore the number of "summoning points" scaled to the game size? In case it is, what have you found useful to nerf the Fate Points generation? I don't see "upgrading to 2k" as an option right now
  3. I don't know if this has been discussed in the past. Probably it has, I guess. I usually play with my fiance and from time to time with a friend. Neither of them has a big collection and we prefer shorter games so most of our games are played in the 750-1000 points range. It's all fine and good unless I use my DoT, and that is because I feel like most allegiance abilities scale to the point total being used. For example, half the points means half the spells and therefore half the Fate Points and half the summonings. That doesn't happen with our Destiny Dice. Am I supposed to get the full nine dice whatever the game magnitude is? It seems that way but it feels a bit overpowered to me since it doesn't scale. I have been using 5 or 3 for smaller games in order to "scale" it down, but I'm unsure if this is just a pet peeve of me or this has been addressed somewhere I didn't find.
  4. Hi! I would like to get your advice on starting a 1000 points tzeentch daemons army. I really don't want to be THAT GUY but I have been a fan of horrors and flamers since the old 2000 times. Reading this thread and other resources like goonhamer I think that Eternal conflagration is the easiest but more predictible way to go. In the end I arrived to two different armies and I don't know if the second one is in a more serious disadvantage. I really like my LoC model (it was a present from my wife, who will also be my more frequent opponent) and I would like to use it, but between this and the horror units I don't have that much points wiggle room I guess. Army 1 Allegiance: Tzeentch - Change Coven: Eternal Conflaguration Leaders Changecaster, Herald of Tzeentch (110) - General Fateskimmer, Herald of Tzeentch on Burning Chariot (140) Battleline 10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (220) 10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (220) 3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (140) 3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (140) Total: 970 / 1000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 45 Army 2 Allegiance: Tzeentch - Change Coven: Eternal Conflaguration Leaders Lord of Change (380) - General Changecaster, Herald of Tzeentch (110) Battleline 10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (220) 3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (140) 3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (140) Total: 990 / 1000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 41 So what would you change. Are they viable? Thank you in advance for your help.
  5. Hi, I am just starting back on AoS so I need to get both my OBR and this army. Me and some friends plan to get this started with smallish 1000 points games and then scale up. With the minis I have (and with a flamer changehost in mind) I was planning something like this: Allegiance: Tzeentch - Change Coven: Eternal Conflaguration Leaders Lord of Change (380) Battleline 10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (200) 3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (120) 3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (120) Units 1 x Burning Chariots of Tzeentch (150) Total: 970 / 1000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 42 Opinions? Should I switch the Burning chariot to an foot Exalted Flamer and use the leftovers for something else? Maybe I could get some more pinks (got like 40 and 60 blue&brimstones) but it feels kinda dirty for 1k and I worry about the mobility (since at 1k I cannot get the changehost batallion teleport)
  6. Now that we are on a shopping spree, do you need a Tzeentch player should purchase the Beasts of Chaos and/or Slaves to Darkness battletomes? I mean if I intend to play as Allegiance:Tzeentch, of course. Any specific warscrolls or elegible lores that are only present there? Would you consider their Endless Spells (usable by tzaangor shamen and StD sorcerers I guess) to be usable? Sorry if it is a stupid or already asked question.
  7. I didn't read it like that but yeah, it's an unfair advantage, specially with army terrain being points-free.
  8. To me, the fact that none of the armies army was shown with a terrain piece actually gives me hope that they simply haven't shown said pieces in the article.
  9. I was just trying to give some context and maybe helping. Apologize me if I was redundant or condescending; that was not my intention.
  10. I reckon in the past there was some old rule (I think it was for 40k armies of World Eatyers) about Khorne armies not allowing psykers. Maybe that's where they got it. Or that old rule about not being possible to give the Mark of Khorne to psykers/wizards. But, as many other have told you, you can take a non-slaaneshi-Sorcerer as an ally. It's even fluffy.
  11. Tzeentch routinely uses the other three gods for his own schemes. I can see one of his agents opening a rancid portal spewing nurgle creatures is that benefits him.
  12. Interesting. What's your opinion on the Gaunt Summoner (the undisked one)? It casts 2 spells per turn, apparently, for only 20 more points and is also a daemon. Also, for suiciding pinks, aren't swords somehow better? I fell like I would need to downgrade the blues to brimstones for that. Thank you!
  13. Hi, I was gifted a Lord of Change for Xmas so I guess that's a sign of Tzeentch to finally start a DoT army. I would like to start at 1000 points. I have some minis from back on 8th edition (yeah, I need to rebase them) and I was wondering if a "mini-changehost" (I know I cannot field itr under 1000, I just mean LoC + tons of horrors and endless spells) was possible. I was thinking on something in the lines of LoC+2-3 Pink Horror units + fill the leftover 100 points with brimstones or assorted endless spells. I have 2 questions tho. a) Which endless spells would you use on a 100 points budget? I am hopelessly lost there b) Would that be too fragile? Can the whole horror-multiplication compensate for that? Is my LoC going to die first turn to cannon fire? Thank you for the advice.
  14. Would it be rude to ask for a copy for myself? 🙇‍♂️
  15. It's probably been talked about somewhere on this thread but for the (un)life of me I cannot find it. What would you suggest as an assembly of the ossy part of Feast of Bones? I am heading now towards a 1000 points goal, with the intention of going 2k by december holidays. As far as I understand it, our army (unless you go solo cavalry or something like that) is slowish, resilient (with petrifex at least) and can regenerate minis (hence big units are preferred) but our damage output can be a bit low. I plan building the Morghasts as Harbingers with halberds. I guess nobody will say anything if I decide before the game that they counts-as Archai, but I consider a 3d6 charge too good when compared to a situational 5+ save against MW. The Mortek Guard I will probably assemble it with spears. The rend is lower but I can potentially hit with 3 ranks then, and I plan using big units anyway so they don't get wiped on a bad round. Is that a bad idea? My biggest doubts are about the stalkers/immortis. I can see the potential of the stalkers going 5 attacks D2 (am I right thinking that in such scenario the “upgraded” weapons are actually worse?) or repeating saves. OTOH, Immortis Guard seem like a pretty nice bodyguard for caster heroes, of which I plan using a few in the future, but their damage potential is less than half the stalkers. Also, the Feast of Bones box doesn’t include the instructions for them. Kind of disappointing. I don’t really know how to aseemble them. For my first 1k points I plan to use an anvil of Mortek guards wrapping heroes, either a smallish stalker flanking unit beside that block and Harbingers as a flanking hammer/warmachine hunter. Something like this Petrifex elite Vokmortion (140), general Mortek guard 20 (260) Mortek guard 10 (130) Stalkers/Immortis 3 (200) Harbingers 2 (210) TOTAL: 940 Suggestions on what to add there? I could trade Vokmortion and 10 morteks for a boneshaper and another stalker/immortis unit, or getting it to 6, but I would have so few bodies then…
  16. I don't know if I can get that 12 MW stat but I am guessing it went like this Allegiance: TzeentchLeadersHerald Of Tzeentch On Burning Chariot (200)- General- Staff of Change- Trait: Magical Supremacy - Lore of Change: Bolt of TzeentchBattleline1 x Burning Chariots Of Tzeentch (160)1 x Burning Chariots Of Tzeentch (160)Units3 x Flamers Of Tzeentch (180)3 x Flamers Of Tzeentch (180)1 x Exalted Flamers of Tzeentch (120)Total: 1000 / 1000Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 36 Damn, now I really want to use this!
  17. Well, not exactly what I have available in my collection but I guess I can try to scrap something. Maybe something from Reaper? These familiars look a bit on the silly side so I guess they can fit (as long as I don't try to go to a GW event, ofc). My DP did better than I expected by sniping with Bolt of Change (after all, every wizard in a DoT army gets a free spell right?) I guess on vanilla StD he is kinda bland with only the two basic spells. Actually, I reserved my 6-showing Fate die to oneshot that pesky Neave and it went just as planned. Do you have any details on that flamer list? Can I expect to plug 3 or 6 in a list and get them working (with warriors tanking and roadblocking) or shoul i tweak the whole army for them? I really want to make them work. Again, thank you for your comments.
  18. That sounds sensible! As long as I can keep away from silly goatmen and marauders (sorry, I really loathe the minis) I am a happy camper. Gaunt Summoner sounds funny. The clampack mini has no familiars right? That's the one on Silver Tower I am guessing. Probably I should be adding Lord of Change or some other wizard heroes. BTW, are Flamers worth it? I love the minis and have like 7 around, and I have the idea of using them to shoot an advancing army and later retreating by bouncing (fly move) behind warrior blocks. Is that doable at all? Something like Allegiance: TzeentchLeadersDaemon Prince (160)- Sword- Mark of Chaos: TzeentchLord Of Change (300)- General- Trait: Incorporeal Form - Artefact: Phantasmal Weapons - Lore of Change: Fold RealityBattleline10 x Chaos Warriors (180)- Hand Weapon & Shield- Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch10 x Chaos Warriors (180)- Hand Weapon & Shield- Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch10 x Pink Horrors Of Tzeentch (120)- Lore of Change: Bolt of TzeentchUnits1 x Chaos Chariots (80)- Greatblades- Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch3 x Flamers Of Tzeentch (180)3 x Screamers Of Tzeentch (120)1 x Burning Chariots Of Tzeentch (160)Total: 1480 / 2000Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 100 (Yeah, maybe the Chaos Chariot is trash but I am attached to that old ugly metal model)
  19. These are all excellent comments. Thank you wholeheartedly (or, adequately, skeletally-heartless-ly). I hope soon I'll try the army and be able to leave some results.
  20. That sounds sensible. I pictured the VL on the thick of combat so I thought I would give him the diadem and the general power. Thank you for the spell advice, btw. About the VL, I have that old metal VL model on a skeletal horse, along with several foot based ones. I hate the flying horror model but I guess a conversion could be attempted. Also I have one riding a Zombie Dragon, but that could be overkill at 1000 points. Thank you!
  21. Hi everyone. I am coming back to the game after some time and I would like to start small, at 1k points, to play some quick games with friends who are also starting. I composed this list this way because I like the aesthetics of an skeletin army, so I picked GHoN, but I might be wrong. Allegiance: Grand Host of NagashLeadersVampire Lord (140)- General- Mount: Nightmare- Trait: Lord of Nagashizzar - Artefact: Ossific Diadem Necromancer (110)Battleline40 x Skeleton Warriors (280)- Ancient Spears20 x Grave Guard (320)- Great Wight BladesUnits5 x Black Knights (120)Total: 970 / 1000Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 80 I am a bit worried that this army lacks mobility or wounds output. Are Black Knights even usable? I would like to think so but... Also, even considering I would need to add another BL unit, is LoN a better pick for a deathrattle army? I have always loved my old Grave Guard, but maybe I would be better served ditching all the Tomb guys... Last, I could switch the necromancer and the missing 30 points to a second VL. Would it be advisable? Thank you for reading.
  22. Hi! I just wanted to share my recient experiences with Chaos. I am returning to the game because a gamer friend of mine has picked up this whole miniatures thing and he purchased half a starter set (the golden half), so I'm trying to teach him the rules. Our first game war a 500 skirmish-like game with some tzeentch daemons (20 pinkies, 3 screamers, 1 herald on disk) for me and some golden boys for him. He enjoyed it immensely and got hooked up. Just as planned! Just bare basic rules. This weekend we had a second game with a bit more nuance: 1000 points, alliance abilities, 120x120 table, full spell rules, etc. This is the army I went with: Allegiance: TzeentchLeadersDaemon Prince (160)- General- Sword- Trait: Incorporeal Form - Artefact: Phantasmal Weapons - Mark of Chaos: TzeentchChaos Sorcerer Lord (160)- Runestaff- Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch- Lore of Fate: Bolt of TzeentchBattleline10 x Chaos Warriors (180)- Hand Weapon & Shield- Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch10 x Chaos Warriors (180)- Hand Weapon & Shield- Mark of Chaos: TzeentchUnits5 x Chaos Knights (160)- Chaos Glaives- Mark of Chaos: Tzeentch1 x Burning Chariots Of Tzeentch (160)Total: 1000 / 1000Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 74 The games were very funny. Won one, lost one. The list isn't competitive at all, of course, but it is funny to play. I intended it to be a hammer&anvil thing, but of course it didn't go so well given the null wounds output of the knights. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. The Burning Chariot was clearly the MVP of the game and I felt a bit bad using it against a newbie. The sorcerer lord was interesting (given that it has two unique spells apart from shield and bolt) but for the same cost I would have taken a second Prince tbh. About the Prince, I'd say he was incredibly useful and the whole flying thing cannot be overstated. Finally, I constantly forgot to use the Fate Dice at the beginning/middle of the first game and seriously it can be one of the most overpowered abilities in the game. Any hint on how to make it more competitive? I was thinking on ditching the Sorcerer for a second Prince or a disk herald. Also, the knights need to go out and get either Screamers or Flamers instead. Maybe I'm going overboard with the warriors? I LOVE how solid they are and have always played Chaos like that since 5th edition. Thank you for reading
  23. Just noticed that I stupidly posted this on the Chaos forum. Is there any way to move it or to delete it so I can repost it in the proper forum?
  24. Hi. Sorry if this is (or similar petitions) has been answered already. If so, please feel free to delete or block this thread. I am coming back to AoS after some time without playing Warhammer. At Warhammer Fantasy I usually played Tzeentch Chaos Warriors and Vampire Counts, so while I guess that Legions of Nagash would be a stronger start, I feel attracted to FEC's lore and I am hoping I can assemble an usable army. My meta is pretty casual but there are some competitive players and I would like to have a chance against them. What I currently have assembled are Abhorrant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist, Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon and Abhorrant Ghoul King on foot. Around 6 Crypt Haunter Courtiers, a Crypt Ghast Courtier, a Crypt Infernal Courtier and a Varghulf Courtier 53 Crypt Ghouls 6 Crypt Horrors And a Horror/Flayer unassembled. Maybe I could try to get another courtier... I see that Deadwatch armies are often recommended but I am guessing that I need around 18 flayers (plus courtiers) to make it work and honestly that sounds like a strong money investment. On the other hand, I could use an Abattoir if I risked using 3-strong horror units. Is that too risky? Anyway, probably I shouldn't go above 1000 points on this army with the minis I have. If you have any suggestions to make, please do so. Thank you in advance.
