  1. I think my answer is a little bit different. I think Nagash would need a 9"+his base size charge to successfully attack. Assuming the wall in question is a solid block, Nagash wouldn't be able to end his move "inside" of the block. He also wouldn't be able to land on top of the block, since he'd no longer be within 0.5" of the Clanrats and therefore it would be an illegal charge. To successfully attack, Nagash would need a long enough charge so that his whole base clears the terrain, with his back edge then being able to "attach" to the terrain, 0.5" above the Clanrats. Though I don't have a rules reference saying a flying model can't end it's move inside a terrain piece.
  2. I appreciate the info! I was secretly thinking this might be the case to make my follow up point, so I'm sorry for baiting it out @RuneBrush. Is there anywhere this information is located? Or is that information only available to people who can actually attend those events? If it's only available at a live, once a year event with no VOD or summary article, then it's barely better than not being not available at all. Which is basically the crux of my communication feedback, I really wish they did betterin this department.
  3. Doesn't this kind of happen naturally already? A very general and high level thought experiment. I judge an armies age by the age of their models, not how long they've been in the game. In general, new players are likely to gravitate towards newer armies (more detailed models, prettier, more dynamic) while older players are more likely to own older models and therefore older armies. Additionally, nobody stays in the hobby forever, so generally the longer you're in the hobby the more likely it is you'll drop out. My conclusion would be that the number of people who own older models naturally decline as time goes on while the number of people who own newer models generally increase. When armies made up of old models are brought forward rules-wise, there is some natural "fat trimming" (see Cities of Sigmar), squatting more and more models. However, these armies tend to get fewer model updates. Therefore, the older armies are generally made up of older models and therefore aren't as attractive to newer players. Also, as old players drop out. Therefore, less people play older armies, less people buy older armies, and GW eventually squats models and armies as a business decision. Further, power creep exists on a long enough scale (like the life of an edition). Armies with older models are brought up to speed rules wise once an edition, and may benefit from power creep. However, new armies with new models are created constantly, and are the most likely to benefit from power creep. So while older armies gain new rules with each edition, they don't gain nearly as many new models. Again, this ties back in to players being less likely to buy them. Without model updates, rules updates are basically all that keep older armies from phasing out entirely. The next update to Cities of Sigmar (presumably in 3.0) is potentially years away. How many players who have those models are going to drop out by then? How many new players are going to buy the older models compared to a new army (like Flat Dwarves)? At what point do those factors impact GW's decision about which armies come forward in a new edition and which stay behind? I think this holds true for any army, I'm just picking on Cities since they're one of the older armies model wise. TL;DR: Armies that only get rules updates and minor model updates are doomed to die out naturally, because the people who own them drop out of the hobby and the new people joining the hobby are more likely to buy an army with new models.
  4. My big gripe right now is communication. The GW balance "department" is like a giant black box, where information flows one way. I feel like I have no idea what's going on in their heads over there, and that's scary. I've been waiting to pull the trigger on my OBR army because I fear a looming nerf will nuke the army I want to build. I'm still pretty salty about my decision to pick Nighthaunt as my first army (not because they got nerfed, but because I was silly and overestimated GW's balance efforts), so I'm scared to commit any more money at this point. Will OBR be Gristlegore or will they be DoK? I'd love to at least see candid discussions about what's going well and what isn't. Things like "Yeah we really wanted [insert army here] to have A, B, and C, as core design principles. Unfortunately that didn't translate well on the table or work out the way we wanted it to, so we're looking to make some adjustments to X, Y, and Z in the next [White Dwarf, FAQ, etc.]." The FAQ Warhammer Community posts sort of touch on this, but the tone is so "everything's great and awesome!" that it just comes off as insincere. Because for some armies, things really aren't so great and awesome. I think Nighthaunt, BoC, and StD players have some valid questions about the state of their army and would appreciate more insight in to the GW thought process or plans for the future. Further, how does their playtesting process work? How many people are involved? How do they structure their playtesting process? Do they think about the strongest lists and play those against each other, or does each playtester just get to play whatever they want? Is it a back and forth discussion or do playtesters just pass W/L results up to the designers and hope for the best? I could go on forever. I know there are legitimate business reasons to not provide answers to every question I've listed, but knowledge is power and I think people just want to feel empowered, that they have some idea of what goes on behind the curtain before they ****** away a bunch of time and money. Other feedback includes improving the plastic hero/dual box situation (borderline criminal ) and improving their digital tools (primarily why is taking PDF scans of my battletome so superior to the inapp battletomes?)
  5. If I were GW (lol) and didn't want that kind of shenanigans, I would just have a line on the warscroll that says "Any wounds allocated to this unit must first be applied to Pink Horror models, then Blue Horror models, then Brimstone Horror models". Personally I'd rather they go with allowing the shenanigans, I love shenanigans!
  6. I'm tickled by the image of the new Magister zipping around, turning KO in to Chaos Spawns that plummet to the ground Wile E. Coyote style 😂!

    BoK rules

If a named character is your general, they don't get a command trait and named hero can't receive an artefact (Core Rules, page 15, Named Characters). It's a shame, but more often than not you won't see people run unique heroes as their general for this reason.
  8. That warscroll on the website is out of date. I believe the FAQ clears it up, but the app has the correct version. Edit: Yup, Tzeentch Errata page 3:
  9. Sounds about right, I think Sequitors work similarly.
  10. I thought Rule #1 in the wargamer handbook was buying boujie stuff for marginal quality of life improvements *looks at overpriced but cool measuring widgets*
  11. Hmm, kind of a silly idea but I wonder if it would work out. Dreadblade Harrow (90)- Artefact: Aetherquartz BroochLady Olynder, Mortarch of Grief (200)- General- Lore of the Underworlds: Spectral TetherGuardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140)- Lore of the Underworlds: ShademistReikenor the Grimhailer (170) --- A flavor of Knight of Shrouds is probably better, I just love this guy- Lore of the Underworlds: Soul CageSpirit Torment (120)- Artefact: Pendant of the Fell Wind10 x Hexwraiths (280)10 x Hexwraiths (280)20 x Grimghast Reapers (320)10 x Chainrasp Horde (80)The Dolorous Guard (120)Extra Command Point (50)Penumbral Engine (100)Total: 1950 / 2000Extra Command Points: 2Allies: 100 / 400Wounds: 99 A Dolorous Guard Lady Olynder deathstar build. Basically bunch everything up together and try and move from objective to objective as fast as possible. Pendant of the Fell Wind makes everything super fast. A unit of Hexwraiths can maybe deepstrike or threaten back objectives. Lady O can bounce wounds to her Hexwraiths, and then use her CP to fill them back up along with everything else while hoping to squeeze out some extra CPs through the Aethquartz Brooch and Penumbral engine to chain it over and over. Feels kind of like a poor man's Legion of Grief but Lady Olynder would theoretically be pretty resilient in a build like this. I just whipped it up in the back of my head so it probably could look a lot better, but here's to getting the ball rolling.
  12. They popped up in my Google searches but for some reason my work blocks their URL. I'm in Canada so that sounds like a sweet option, do you mind me asking how much it was for yours (how many, shipping, etc.)?
  13. Yup, though I think there are a few battleplans that do within 3" of an objective (ex. Duality of Death). https://www.gamemat.eu/en/terrain/mousepad-terrain/2d-zones.html Gamemat.eu has a less optimal solution that would work for some playmats but definitely not all. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Premium-Objective-Marker-AoS-Set-8-x12-Circles-3-x6-Circles-Warhammer/254334445500?hash=item3b3783a7bc:m:m_OF8Vscpf3YvQN_wuTP-Tg This guy is selling a bunch on eBay, though $100 USD seems pricy but you get 8x12" and 3x6" objectives. I honestly wonder how much it would be to just send a custom design to someone and have some made up using an image that's visually consistent with your favorite game mat. Might have some copyright issues?
  14. Playmats.eu makes a bunch of these that aren't immersion breaking! https://www.playmats.eu/140-wh40k-objective-markers A few places will make customized versions for you as well if you provide the image.
  15. Not like "here's the definitive answer to your question" kind of answer, just that the relative strength of the entire army could be shifted around so it's difficult to even start the conversation. Obviously more context is required to answer that kind of question.
  16. Give us like 24 hours, the points updates are rolling out today and may affect the answer to that question.
  17. Sort by Z-A and look under any of the non-AoS headers on the FAQ page Edit: Looks like they fixed it, maybe? It keeps popping in and out of existence randomly (how Skaven of them!)
  18. Unmodified 6 isn't affected by by +1 hit buffs or -1 hit debuffs. Where as 6+ can be modified by those effects.

  20. Save y'all the time, looks like nothing really changed. Maybe there was a translation error before?
  21. Hey folks, I asked this over in the Rules forum but didn't get a response so thought I'd throw it in here as well. Does Korghos Khul/Mighty Lord of Khorne's Reality-Splitting Axe ability still trigger at the end of the phase if KK/MLoK are slain before the end of the phase? I can see arguments for both yes and no and would be interested in your thoughts or rules support. On the one hand, the ability states that as long as any wounds are inflicted, the ability triggers. On the other hand, do model's abilities still activate if they aren't on the battlefield? Any insight is appreciated!
  22. Close, unmodified hits of 6 against the buffed unit cause D3 MWs back to the attacker.
  23. Oh man I love this. Imagine a gunline of Freeguild Handgunners, taking aim at the Chaos Marauders running at them from the horizon. They take aim, fire, and as the Marauders fall in droves, there's suddenly a loud buzzing in the air. Turns out the Marauders had Nurgle's Blessing and those sores and wounds actually contained trillions of plague bearing insects that are now zooming towards them at ridiculous speed. Before they have a chance to reload, Freeguild gunners are dropping left and right!
