So they exist in the lore but not as a Faction?

It like Greenskinz, swifthawk agents, and wanderers when they got gutted, They exists only in the fluff now and slowly never mention again

  2. I feel only Ogors are the army currently in the danger zone of being taken out of AoS. There also mini factions like Spiderfang and non human CoS that are in the same category

Stormcast are kind of an outlier army where they can get a lot of update and things can get discontinue to keep them fresh every three years. I wouldn’t use them as a bases for what may happen to other armies.

A real sour point in particular is the release of the BoC vanguard box only 15 months ago, a kit specifically targeted at onboarding new players into playing BoC in AoS… only to have them dropped from the game. They had to have been fully aware that this would be happening in the near future. I mean damn. image.jpeg.c9b26264e64b2b7d06355d9f4cd9aa9f.jpeg

They did this with Greenskinz in 1st edition as well lol

Do you think they removed BS because they didn't sell well, because they're a blatant racial stereotype subfaction, or because both ?

that and probably they  had no plan or ideas to expand them in the future

  4. To be fair I think eventually troops like Stabbas/shootas, witch elves, and all the Daemon infantry will eventually get a new sculpt since GW has been slowly redoing every armies basic infantry unit

Ogors are in I hope they stay around territory though

the new fyreslayer unit isnt horrible but also isnt good.

in short have same stats than vulkites(10% less wounds and damage output but 10% cheaper)

have as plus that have 2" and vulkites are umplayables due to have 1"  but have the handicap that is locked in lofnir keyword(vulkites have +1 hig and wound in one lodge) and cant get the flamekeeper buff.

in general i would say that have similar power than vulkites but easier to play due to 2"

a army with 38% win rate could have got some better to try get it out of the botton but i guess we must wait for next book

Also one of your easier Battle tactic requires you to have Vulkites either way.

Depending on the faction, I really don't mind single hero releases. If the faction is complete, a new hero can be a super fun tool to play around with. The Harbinger of Decay was amazing. The Rabble-Rowza/Trugg perfectly fit too. The curseling and scinari enlightener were a great and necessary model update and addition to a faction that is not in need of a grand expansion.

Complete-ish armies like SCE, StD etc could really benefit from some heroes. Giving us some named non-hammers Stormcast could really benefit the army. A hamilcar model for example would be a great hero to receive without adding too many more models to the range. Or Callis and Toll for CoS.

What I do mind, is when factions that clearly need range expansions get only 1 hero and nothing else for an entire edition. Luckily we seem to be going away from that, but we'll have to see for armies like FS, KO, IDK and OBR if that trend holds.

I mean no army is every really complete, it not like StD and Stormcast are going to stop getting big releases because their roster are already huge, A lot of release are base on popularity and that why there a disparity exist to the unpopular armies

It's all about the production rate and the warehouse & logistics behind it.
I don't expect to see a full refresh range until a few years unless it's something completely new like Cathay or Kislev or whatever.

Even then they not expanding their warehouse or production in the coming years either way, time are a bit tough down in the UK

I literally just started paying attention to Old World when I found out tomb kings were going to be back, so apologies if this is a stupid question but:

Are they also giving Tomb Kings and/or Brettonians AoS rules? Because Tomb Kings specifically being squatted was one of the dumbest lasting decisions in AoS. Those models fit the AoS aesthetic better than some of the newer AoS factions do.

It work on by a completely different team and they have said there no cross over between the two system.

similar to how specialist game like Necromunda or recently HH model don’t cross into 40K (outside of legends rules which TK already have in AoS)

All true, but also applicable to all other factions imho. Which AoS novel would you pick as a "breakout hit"? Do fans know the difference between Illiatha and Alumnia? Or Tempest Eye and Greywater Fastness?

Personally I would always bet on Stormcast in the launch and starter boxes for 4th and would be surprised even by a change in 5th, if anything because of the inertia of the big-GW-machine and sunken costs.

I mean it quite possible that Black library is just bankrolled by their space marine and Horus heresy novel and none of the AoS novels have ever been big hits to begin with. (Moderate success at best)

    "If".

    Still something to considered.

the only reason AoS had late battletome releases like Soulblight and Deepkin before an edition change was because those battletomes where still valid going into the next edition. It may not be so if they do a reset of the system and any new battletomes would just be invalidated in less then two months of validity

Can we expect something else than FEC for the winter BT ?

Let me explain, that mysterious BT could be “Chorf” or “Umbraneth” as new antagonists in Dawnbringer 3, and Ushoran could return in the end of Dawnbringer 4 with a new FEC BT in early spring 2024. What do you think ? 🤔

(Sound wishlisting when I write it)

I mean if they are indexing the edition for 4th and resetting the game, there probably not another battletome after FeC.

FeC may get snuff like world eaters did in 40K where their book was active for like 5 months before 10th happen
