  1. Richard Strachan has taken number 1 spot for me. Both of his novels (Warcry Catacombs: Blood of the Everchosen and The End of Enlightenment) and all of his short stories have been great. Top notch writing, strong characters, good pacing.
  2. I love skirmish sized games, but I really dislike that there are often very high stakes riding on single dice rolls - in part a byproduct of fighters having stats similar to the battle sized games (e.g., one wound, one attack). So I think Warcry’s combat system is a genius solution: fighters have multiple wounds and multiple attacks.
  3. Nice buildings. And cool backstory. Really enjoying the development of Port Stellis and the Land of Fleeting Hopes.
  4. I hear you! It took me almost three months to get through a batch of ten Tzaangors because I'm a slow painter and wanted them to look good. I was really happy with the result, but swore I'd never paint Tzaangors again! Then I fielded them in a few small battles and they were amazing. They even took down a Bloodthirster when buffed by a hero! (Okay, I used a wizard to deal some mortal wounds and an Ogroid's charge finished off the beastie - but the Tzaangors did most of the heavy lifting!) So I've changed my mind - I'm definitely going to be painting more of them. Plan to field 20 Tzaangors supported to six Enlightened, six Skyfires and a Shaman. Tzaangor Coven ahoy! And as I curse all the fiddly details, the armour rims and the difficult angles, I'm going to remind myself that they're worth it. @CJPT, really interesting tip. Definitely going to try it out. Apologies for the poor photo - it's the only one I've got.
  5. The colour scheme looks excellent, and it's a really nice paint job. The little bits of freehand are just right! Cool bases too. The lore is interesting as always. I'm curious about the mist wights.
  6. Lovely paint job and interesting lore. I hope that Port Stellis find its way into a Black Library story one day.
  7. I didn't think the assassin model could get any better, but your conversion proves otherwise - very cool. I really like how Port Stellis is coming along so far. Great job developing a setting that fits right into the mortal realms but also has a distinctive character. The Star Ocean idea in particular is very creative. Looking forward to the next instalment!
