I expect updated Warscrolls that identify a champion like the new SC Warscrolls do. Currently it's not really clear for all units - eg Narmati Thralls have only icon bearers, I don't think these are champions, but maybe I m wrong.

Ask the guys who run the local events to get a better feeling of what is acceptable. To contact them just check the website that is used for organizing these events (e.g. in Germany it is https://www.tabletopturniere.de/). In our local scene everything is accepted as long as it is clear what every model is representing.

They still get the void drum bonus, the Warscroll of the turtle changed to +1 save - they just don't get the round 1 cover bonus. And Grim Dork is a ninja 😆

Rule Question: if I charge in the first round, does that unit loose the cover bonus from low tide?
