  1. I might be wrong but what I think the exalted is doing for me is letting me bring in more marauders for free via the Rally the Tribes command ability? I wanted a cheap hero so I could get three heroes on the table which means I can be bringing on another 10 marauders each turn for the first three turns. Darkoath may be a better call though, I went Exalted mainly because I want to re-make the Wulfrik model
  2. Trying to make a fun list, curious what people think, it's a little light on bodies but hoping that ravagers with 3 heroes, one of whom is a gaunt summoner, will let me put quite a few extra models on the table: Allegiance: Slaves to Darkness - Damned Legion: Ravagers - Grand Strategy: None Chosen - Triumphs: LEADERS One-Eyed Grunnock (470) - Allies Chaos Sorcerer Lord on Manticore (270) Exalted Hero of Chaos (90) Gaunt Summoner on Disc of Tzeentch (230) UNITS 1 x Chaos Chariots (105) - Greatblades 1 x Chaos Chariots (105) - Greatblades 20 x Chaos Marauders (180) 8 x Scions of the Flame (75) 1 x Slaves to Darkness Chaos Spawn (50) BEHEMOTHS Chaos Warshrine (185) Soul Grinder (235) TOTAL: 1995/2000 WOUNDS: 132 LEADERS: 4/6 BATTLELINES: 3 (3+) BEHEMOTHS: 4/4 ARTILLERY: 0/4 ARTEFACTS: 0/1 ENDLESS SPELLS & INVOCATIONS: 0/3 ALLIES: 470/400 REINFORCED UNITS: 1/4
  3. Really like this, a very bold conversion with a bold colour scheme to match.
  4. The poster explained why it is unlikely to be a mix-up with an employee contract, almost anything can happen but that doesn't make it credible. And justifying shady contracts by saying people don't have to sign them sort of misses the point.
  5. As I said, I like to look at warscrolls when deciding what army I'm going to buy next, as do a lot of people it seems, not to mention people wanting to know what they might face from opponents. Bit unreasonable to expect people to purchase a battletome for every army they're considering buying, or every army they might face. It's such a wrong-headed approach to try and get people to subscribe to the app by taking the warscrolls, which have been free for years and help people decide what to buy, and putting them behind a paywall. It seems like an admission that they haven't been able to produce any new content that would make people actually want the app, and are forced to arbitrarily take away things people already liked and put them behind that paywall. If nothing else I suspect this is gonna cause a drop in traffic to their site which will hopefully hurt sales. And the cherry on the faecal sundae is that a number of models had building-instructions under the downloads tab because the ones in the box were misprinted, and those are gone now. So I guess if you have one of those models you now need to subscribe to Warhammer+ to put it together?
  6. If warscrolls do end up behind the paywall of Warhammer+ I genuinely think that's me out the game. I'm not willing to pay for a subscription service in order to access the rules which inform and enable my purchases of models. I like reading warscrolls and browsing through them to make decisions about which armies and units I invest in. I've always accepted the high price of models without complaint but I object on principle to being forced into paying a monthly fee for the privilege of knowing what those models do before I buy them.
  7. For my chaos pirates I plan on playing them in normal games without special rules, but this brings up the question of how to make ships/aquatic creatures visually make sense on normal non-oceanic boards. It's fantasy so you could have them flying of course, but if the model they're proxied as doesn't fly that could be confusing for your opponent. Could have them pulled across the ground by beasts? Or carried aloft like the chaos warshrine? Could base them to suggest they're moving through ice sheet, or swamp or some other terrain where ships and people on foot could interact? Or the other option is to just have them be on water bases and say the board has conveniently flooded, perhaps they magically bring the waters with them as BCR do with frost. What approach do people think is best? And I wasn't familiar with Wulfrik so thank you! Will definitely have to find a way to incorporate him.
  8. There are so many ways to incorporate naval combat into AoS. You can have an entire AoS-themed mini-game using the rules for Dreadfleet or another ruleset, you can come up with terrain rules for fighting on the ocean and have big ships as moving terrain pieces, or you can simply convert or proxy ships and boats as various units within regular AoS games. I've just started work on turning marauders into pirates and was very happy to find I have some boats from the old Pressman pirate-battle game which should work great proxied as chariots with a bits of conversion: And for the big ships you can always use the anvil of apotheosis and Runbrushes' excellent warscroll designer to create your own custom ship warscrolls: This is an approach that appeals to me because it means you can use your cool nautical stuff in casual pick-up games, rather than having to come up with a whole new ruleset and find other people who want to use it.
  9. Thanks, I'm working on the pirate infantry (marauders) first but will definitely post pics when I make the ship.
  10. I feel like my Chaos Galleon is pretty reasonable, fairly restrained, something that wouldn't be too contentious in Matched Play. So let's take the idea and turn up to 11. I present to you the ridiculous Everchosen's Dreadship, Archaon himself aboard his mighty flagship. I don't know if I'd actually use this but would be a fun modelling project. 750 points.
  11. Working on a pirate-themed StD army with a Chaos Warshrine converted into a pirate ship, 350 points, what do people reckon?
  12. I'm thinking about starting a StD army and trying to understand how bringing in units outside the battletome works in 3.0. Would non-StD chaos units be allies or coalition? Is there a points limit on how many you can bring in or is it just a 1/4 ratio?
  13. Guild of Summoners LEADERS Chaos Sorcerer Lord on Manticore (260) Fatemaster (120) Magister (100) Ogroid Thaumaturge (160) Gaunt Summoner on Disc of Tzeentch (260) The Blue Scribes (120) UNITS 10 x Kairic Acolytes (100) 10 x Kairic Acolytes (100) 10 x Tzaangors (180) 1 x Burning Chariots of Tzeentch (150) 1 x Burning Chariots of Tzeentch (150) 3 x Varanguard (280) TOTAL: 1980/2000 WOUNDS: 108 So this is my first Tzeentch list. Some of the choices are very much thematic/modelling based. I want to make an ocean-themed Tzeentch army so am planning to use a Leviadon in place of the manticore, put the Varanguard on the backs of sea creatures, use little boats with cannons firing living flame as burning chariots, etc. However I am also interested in building a semi-competitive army and hoping this list will let me bring the LoC in early and deal a lot of damage by magic whilst having at least some back line, decent objective-takers that can do damage at range and a little melee combo that can take on isolated units efffectively. I do however feel like there's a shortage of bodies here that the gaunt summoner isn't going to be able to make up and that 270 points probably could be spent more effectively than 3 varanguard. Appeeciate any thoughts people might have.
  14. New to Tzeentch, putting together a hero-heavy list, leaning towards Guild of Summoners. I'd like some cool hard hitting elites and i'm curious if people think there is any place for Varanguard (sans Archaon) in Tzeentch?
  15. It's not for me, I like elves, but as with a lot of Lumineth stuff it just seems really confused and over-accoutred to me, it stands in such stark contrast to the design philosophy we see with the vampires. I am conscious that this isn't the thread for complaining about Lumineth so I'll leave it there.
  16. The vampire warband looks really good, a very classic vampire look, but I think I might like the weird gravedigger guy from the new warhammer quest even better. The vampires are classy and restrained and not overdesigned which is good but but the more outre gravedigger suggests they're not playing it too safe with their designs for the new death faction. Not so keen on the lumineth elf-fox-cow-wind-god thing.
  17. I like options, I like unique idiosyncratic armies, and I feel no compulsion to collect every model so I'm quite happy with factions of 30+ warscrolls.
  18. These are great, fantastic dynamism in the troll and I love your take on nurgle.
  19. I haven't seen anyone mention lightning gheists. They're stormcast whose reforging has gone wrong turning them into... unhinged... electricity... ghosts? They're mentioned quite a bit so could see them making an appearance. Someone on Warhammer Weekly suggested they could be placed in some sort of constructs as an AoS equivalent to the Space Marine Dreadnoughts of 40k.
  20. There are a number of references to "normal" people residing in Shyish under the rule of Nagash. It isn't always clear whether they're meant to be living mortals or deceased ones. I'm picturing something like a unit of more human-looking ghosts, dressed in their burial clothes, their ghostly nature only given away by their feet turning into mist or the occasional subtle but clearly fatal wound. The Cities of Sigmar have huge Cogforts, and people on this forum have done some great scratchbuilds of them. Also lizardmen have spaceships?
  21. Good choice, look forward to seeing what you do!
  22. Really like your conversions, you've clearly put a lot of thought into this faction. I love the idea that these guys are rational and enlightened so long as they're in Hysh but they start to degenerate into mindless savages if they leave. That's a really cool and evocative idea and for me personally hooks like that are more interesting than the specifics of their social hierarchy.
