  1. It doesn't make sense to divert resources into writing and updating rules for models which are no longer sold. There isn't any business sense in it at all. Neither does it make sense to encourage people to stick with armies they've owned since the nineties or early noughties. Part of the problem with warhammer fantasy was that the people who were enthusiastic about the game didn't buy new models. Games Workshop are being more supportive towards legacy armies than anyone has any right to expect.
  2. Even if everything does get moved over to legends eventually I wouldnt panic. They've done this with dark elves just after two AoS elf factions got big releases. If you liked old dark elves then you can play daughters of khaine or idoneth deepkin. Plus as others have said a lot of the legacy armies have been rewritten into the lore now. Dispossessed for instance might not be the new shiny dwarfs but they have plenty of mentions throughout recent aos fluff. I wouldn't expect them to dump whole groups,I. E. Goblins before they get a release that lines them up to the new setting. With tomb kings and brettonia you've had basically 3 years of extended life. GW stopped making the kits. No one can buy them anymore. It doesn't make sense for them to be valid in matched play. Optimistically I would expect at somepoint to see an order faction that represents humans in the realms that aren't stormcast eternals. There could well be an aesthetic that unifies the knightly side of things with the freeguild stuff. Likewise for death, they will certainly get new releases that show at least part of a tomb kings influence. Given the lore has talked about nagash having black pyramids etc.
  3. I'm not 100% sure what people expected. ID have two good allegiance abilities balanced by the fact they are both very predictable for opponents. Cost wise everything seems about right, thralls are actually cheaper than I expected. I would have liked to see lotan at 80 because of how tough wholly within is to benefit from and that he is a named character. I feel that the allopex isn't great but you make it cheaper and it probably becomes too good. If ID were designed to defeat the best current lists in the game such as changehost et al you have the definition of power creep. It makes existing armies not in the top tier even weaker by comparison and just puts a new imbalanced army list on top. ID look beatable and winnable, which is what you want. GW can balance other armies by increasing or reducing costs, not by making new armies equally over powered.
  4. Given we don't know what the rest of the warscroll says it's very hard to judge how good they will be. For instance they may scale really well in big blobs, they may re roll saves or ignore rend we have no idea. What we do know is that Lotan gives them re roll 1s and some of the fluff mentions being able to revitalise nemarti units. We also know that the eidolon gives a bonus to wound rolls. So their attack dice might end up only missing on 2s and re rolled 1s
  5. You have to declare split attacks prior to rolling any dice. Because the small unit is the only one you can legal declare before any shots are rolled then all shots have to go into that unit. However if you ran multiple smaller units of skyfire you could declare the first 3 into one, kill them and then declare the rest. Tldr big units have to put all their shots into the 5 man ****** unit.
  6. I'd be more interested to see the rest of the warscroll. Those stats look very similar to something like swordmasters. If they are costed cheaply they'll be alright, anything with only one wound tends to suffer in my experience though.
  7. That price seems high on Lotan, I'd be expecting closer to £15 otherwise seems about right
  8. I'd love to get eldritch council as allies because any order army that can grab a lore master is handy. That said I'm not expecting much. I think they have been hyping it up that people in order don't like or trust the deepkin so we may see a very limited list of allies.

  11. There could be a black library novel, a shadespire warband, they might feature in fluff for other armies... it doesn't necessarily mean new models. I don't see them releasing a battletome with all the units and then having another wave of models not in the battletome in a month or two. 14 units is still the largest release of new models we've seen for sigmar.
  12. This is the wording in the English white dwarf. Seems to me they mean you might spot some new builds among the pictures within the white dwarf. So I don't think this means new models after all.
  13. You know I'm wondering if we could be looking at a forge world model. We've hard rumours if sea elves since what... January 2017? That would be enough time for them to create a forge world sculpt of a large sea creature. It might also explain 14 units in the battletome with more still to come beyond what we've seen, as forgeworld units aren't normally printed in battletomes.
  14. Unless the foot heroes have awesome command abilities then he will probably be the general in most armies. Given the eidolon doesn't have a command ability there doesn't seem to be a great reason to take him as general. We will almost certainly see a battlion which focuses on the akhelian sea monster units too.
  15. I mean if there are multiple build options for several kits I wouldn't be at all disheartened. If you consider what some of the other factions have even the newer released armies deepkin are a big range. Sylvaneth, daughters of khaine and the chaos armies only actually had a few new kits. Khorne for example who are the other poster boys haven't had any new kits for Aos beyond the starter sets and multi part version. The closest release for comparison would be the kharadron overlords as they were a full faction new release. If I remember rightly they have 12 units in their entire army. So idoneth stand above them. Also if you envision what you might need for a 2k list you could easily be looking at multiple eidolons and turtles as well as your foot troops. So hobby wise and game wise I think there is plenty to get along with. That said I still want a giant kraken.
  16. The warscroll cards previewed in white dwarf indicate 14 units in the battletome. My list suggests 12 of those are confirmed Eidolon Sea turtle Shark riders Eel riders Named guy on seahorse Generic guy on seahorse Wizard Lady wizard Hooky Octopus Archer troops Sword troops This leaves us with two uncertain units. One is likely to be another version of the eidolon, possibly both could be this.
  17. I hope we get some tentacled creatures at somepoint beyond the one octopus. Don't get me wrong I love all the beasts previewed so far but I feel like they've put lots of giant tentacles in the art and something really deep ocean style would be nice. Where are these pics from btw?
  18. I hope mistweaver is deepkin, I was really surprised that tenebrael wasn't Daughters of Khaine to be honest. Having a couple of really nice models with interesting rules sitting outside of any specific factions is a shame. I can't see us getting another aelf faction for quite a long time so it would be a bit rubbish if they just sit there mostly unused for another year or more.
