  1. It would be kinda neat if they made upgrade sprues to allow you to convert mega gargants into grand alliance themed versions. Plus new rules, i.e. zombie gargant. That said I'm sure I'm not the only one sick of playing SoB after the past year!
  2. True. I could use sigvald bits and magnets to make her float beside the dragon and then I have a vlozd. Just need a sigvald kit and a head option to add to the beast then. Maybe something to show her with a Lance so I don't have to use the crappy sword haha
  3. Hey vampire friends. Ive just picked up a battleforce to play a more casual army (as opposed to my Idoneth). I'm thinking of converting the vengorian lord kit (as I think they look kinda wacky and I'm not keen on the rules). I'm pretty confident it will be easy to grab some legs for Luaka Vai and make her into a nice lil vamp lord. Anyone made the monster body into a vlozd? I've seen some pics but would like some advice on parts used etc. Thanks!
  4. Oh I didn't take it that way! Also just to clarify what I would guess has happened. GW ask the playtesters to play a certain army and go through the rules etc. I would be surprised if they don't get some sort of discount or free models ala what influencers are given. This guy probably painted them as something to do, realised they wouldn't be good and is now trying to flog them before the rest of us see the rules / stats. Playtesters generally have quite a competitive outlook. Regardless of how the book ends up. I don't think it sends a great message to the community. If I saw my favourite army being sold by a playtester before I'd seen any rules I wouldn't feel great about it.
  5. So a certain playtester, I won't name names, has been trying to flog his nighthaunt all over the internet. Doesn't really bode well for the book I'm afraid...
  6. Maybe they will get a spell that makes them do mortals on 6s and kurdoss let's them shoot twice at double range. Who knows? Right now they look like trash and I hope it stays that way. Mostly because a unit that comes in 5s and is only in a FOMO box sound's like a nightmare.
  7. It says visible. Step 1) Deploy heroes behind terrain. Step 2) Your opponent can't trigger it turn 1. Step 3) You're only risking a 1/6 chance of it happening turn 3 and 2/6 turn 4, assuming you don't shoot the guy.
  8. There are no new models in the cursed city expansions btw
  9. Well I've got 40 thralls on the WIP pipeline haha. Plan for now is to use the Ionrach ability to pull them out of combat and charge back in again. Plus they hang around near the king in case you get the chance to fight first with multiple units. I don't really see much use for thralls or Reavers in the list right now. I think you need to heavily invest in thralls for them to be worth. You need a turtle and a thrallmaster which adds a minimum 610 points before you even add the thralls.
  10. I'm not banking on the king combo making it past the FAQ. Looking at something like this for Ionrach - Army Faction: Idoneth Deepkin - Subfaction: Ionrach - Grand Strategy: Dominating Presence - Triumph: Bloodthirsty LEADERS Akhelian King (250)** - General - Command Traits: Unstoppable Fury - Bladed Polearm and Falchion - Artefacts of Power: Arcane Tome - Spells: Flaming Weapon, Steed of Tides Lotann (115)** Eidolon of Mathlann Aspect of the Sea (325)** - Spells: Arcane Corrasion, Steed of Tides BATTLELINE 3 x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard (195)* 3 x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard (195)* 3 x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard (195)* OTHER 1 x Akhelian Allopexes (165) - Razorshell Harpoon Launcher, Barbed Hooks and Blades 2 x Akhelian Allopexes (330)** - Razorshell Harpoon Launcher, Barbed Hooks and Blades 1 x Akhelian Allopexes (165)** - Retarius Net Launcher, Barbed Hooks and Blades CORE BATTALIONS - *Hunters of the Heartlands - **Warlord TOTAL POINTS: 1935/2000 Created with Warhammer Age of Sigmar: The App
  11. Since we like speculating on random new armies aos could have. Idoneth book has a new race mention, called Abholons or something. Basically psychic horrors from the deep sea with nasty tentacles and things (imagining Deep Ones / Mindflayer type things). They are mentioned on multiple occasions throughout the tome. Deepkin had a huge war with them and apparently wiped them out. They are totally new to the lore in 3.0 so possibly could be a thing for a new army one day? Also some stuff about the Deepkin trying to work out how to resurrect the Cythai souls they got. Could be something for 4.0 in 3 to 4 years time or a new kit for the end of 3.0 like how we got Belakor, Kroak, Warsong and Slaanesh named characters at the end of 2.0. Obviously these are both kinda thin and far off, but thought they'd be of interest to people who don't necessarily read the fluff in every book.
  12. I'm kinda finding it hard to fit Shelley the Turtle into my list, but I'm worried about taking a list without a monster. Interested to try sea eidolon now, but again points.
  13. It's definitely a positive to be able to include cool models without buying a whole army. I was kinda hoping we'd get coalition rules for DoK as part of the fluffy secret alliance. Lots of awesome custom model options too to make them themed. I just find with our high points costs I want to get all my models on the table.
  14. I can't do allies in my lists. I play Idoneth because I want to use my Idoneth. Agree the options seem strong.
  15. I don't think any of us should be surprised that we've seen eels get worse and other units get better. Remember how in DoK 1.0 you basically wanted tons of witch elves and the bow snakes were the worst? Then in 2.0 the bow snakes became incredible and witch elves dropped off a cliff. I've got 30 painted eels of various kinds, but only 10 thralls. Guess what's on the menu for the next few months?😅 The only thing I can't get my head around is the turtle at 500 points. The save buff was nice, but so we actually need it? We're already super shooting resistant and that has gotten better. All out defense is a thing, finest hour, cover. Plus we have more than one way to fight first now. Hit bonus on nemarti is nice, but again all out attack exists. If you look at what you could get for under 500 points, I'm not seeing a place for it right now.
  16. Thralls are 5+ base. Overall I'm happy with the book. I agree points seem a little high, but points are the easiest thing to change. I'd rather have slightly too high points on units than rules that aren't ever likely to be viable on the warscrolls. Turtle will go down in points eventually, but our build variety should be solid for all of 3.0.
  17. First, kudos to Rob for leaking the whole book early. GW were really ****** stealing all the data he spends ages working on. Second, I'm disappointed that the book (coming out nearly 4 years after the first) seems to be so low effort. It fits the trend of streamlined AoS books, but I would have liked to see a few more options. For example, a prayer lore and more spells / artifacts. Lastly, we knew thralls were going to be good but I'm surprised at how good they are. It's hard to see why you would want to take eels at all right now. Maybe one or two units of Ishlaen for trapping stuff in combat for a turn. I think people might also be underestimating how good sharks are going to be with the amount of combined damage they put out and the ability to fight first multiple times.
  18. Honestly as an Idoneth player I don't want the book to come out and be seen as clearly superior to existing armies. Why? Lots of reasons. 1) Powercreep happens but it isn't good for the game. The current top lists are outliers that need toning down through balance. If Idoneth came out and were immediately better in every way then that just makes balance worse. It also widens the gap between armies even more. 2) Playing an oppressive army genuinely isn't super fun. I've had more fun running Idoneth lists since BR Morathi than I ever did when we were right at the top with eel spam. I get to take sharks, some eels, a turtle and nemarti + heroes. I'm not a major tournament player by any means, but I've had no problem holding my own and competing Vs the top meta lists when I've played them. Did I win all my games? No, but I found my games challenging and stimulating either way. 3) Playing a viable, but not top tier army is a really engaging way to play. You know you can win but you also know you will have to play well to do so. 4) Removing mass access to rerolls is good for the game. Playing against 2s and 2s rerolling isn't fun for anyone. I think a lot of people would be comfortable with Idoneth having higher damage, like with the harpoon changes to d3, rather than near guaranteed lower damage. Mathematically it works out similarly, but it just feels better to play against than seeing your opponent guarantee all their rolls.
  19. Let's chill. Reducing rerolls is a trend of 3.0 books. No reason to start freaking out. I have big faith Idoneth will be a strong and viable army.
  20. I honestly doubt either high tide or forgotten nightmares will have changed much based on what I've heard. All the talk is about Idoneth being a solid competitive pick and hard to see that being the case if either rule is nerfed.
  21. Another small rules rumour. Bob on war of sigmar (who has books early and posts opinions / reviews as soon as they go on pre-order) is stating the Idoneth book is strong and should be good in the current meta. This chimes with everything I've heard so far from my own sources. So while it might be sad we aren't seeing much in terms of new models, not even getting endless spells etc, it sounds like the new book will be very welcomed by the Idoneth community. Although it's a relief to know we won't be stuck with a terrible book for 3.0, I'm personally hoping we can see some more build variety especially in the casual scene.
  22. They really want to sell them Fyreslayers! On another topic, I have the original Idoneth dice and they are literally unusable. They look like glaciar mints and you can barely tell what one result is, let alone rolling in a game. I don't see any reason to buy the dice other than wanting to collect them, but these look like you can use them.
