  1. Finally sorted the pics of Myari's Purifiers - great models, had to leave off the camping backpacks because they are a little... well, dumb. That's all the practice stuff done now - I've got the first 20 spears and 10 bows ready to build so will be cracking on with those at some point soon. Hoping that BR: Teclis gets a release date soon so I can plan the project properly...
  2. Totally forgot to post this one up, but my Lumineth practice continued with the Cathallar - a bloody lovely model once you remove all the oversized over-the-top bits, really lets the model breath and the simplicity show through. Although there's nothing that can help that huge right foot... Really happy with her, to the point where she might make it into the final army instead of the Mistweaver conversion I had in mind for my Cathallar. We shall see. Also painted up the Direchasm warband, so I'll sort the pics for those out later today or tomorrow. Really want to crack on with the project fully, but also kinda want to wait for the BR Teclis book and the new stuff before I make any hard decisions on what's in. I guess I could sort out the core 1k of batteline stuff though...
  3. Realised I should probably be posting my practice Lumineth in here rather than in the general chat thread - I had an Eltharion lying around and couldnt resist painting him up in my "Gloomineth" scheme, just because he's that great a model. For anyone who didn't see my other posts in the General thread, I'm aiming for a narrative based sinister moon-cult Lumineth rather than the shiny "good guy" style of the current Lumineth. The basic idea is that they were a noble house that caught or exiled into a pocket realm by one of their enemies during the Ocari Dara - the realm is only lit by the light of a shattered moon and they have become rather bitter and malevolent thanks to their exile. Incidentally, I bloody love the art that accompanies the Ocari Dara pages in the Battletome - it's all the grim Lumineth evidence I needed to spin off of. Anyways, enough rambling, here's a Moon-Light Of Eltharion: Entirely done for fun - while I will more than likely have Eltharion in my army list, I've got something else entirely in mind to represent him with.
  4. In my defense, I am super tired and typed that out with little thought. The Unseelie Court would have been a much more succint way of saying it and you are entirely correct haha. Off to bed for me!
  5. Well, I got suitably enthused and excited by the Regent model and cracked out a test Warden for the Lumineth I'm planning. It's very much a story-first project and I liked the idea of doing darker, more sinister Lumineth that had been exiled/trapped in a splinter pocket realm during the Ocari Dara with only the light of a broken moon to live by. With the Necroquake and the breaking of Slaanesh's chains, they've finally found a way back. Think of the Seelie Court of the Fae, only way more sinister. Stands to reason then that they would need a darker scheme, and I wanted to get a monochrome moonlit feel - here's what the first one looks like: Image compression doing no favours there, but that aside, I'm happy with the look. Will be getting into gear with the army properly once the new stuff is out and I can get an idea of points costs etc. I'm not fussed on the Windrunners, but the Regent definitely has a place, especially with a Celennar-inspired face on his war-elk-deer-antelope.
  6. I'm actually a big fan of the androgynous nature of that vampire, think that's a really interesting way to go. Also not entirely hating the paint-job, I can see what they were aiming for - that almost Sin City style of monochromatic darkness with splash of vibrant colour - but I don't thing it meshes well with the Eavy Metal style, which sometimes does models no favours at all. All in all, after a year away from AoS working on 40k stuff, this and the Lumineth have pulled me right back in. Not the biggest fan of the Windrunners, but the Vanari Lord Regent is glorious. And that vampire is crying out to be painted. Also also, a city-set urban horror Warhammer Quest pitting a Witch Hunter against zombies/werewolves/necromancers/vampires would see me selling what remains of my kidneys to purchase it. Give me Age Of Sigmar Van Helsing dammit!
  7. I'm expecting the Regent to be a dual kit, along the lines of the Ossiarch mounted hero - the shield might be a different design, but the tassels/reins and neck of the beastie are the same as the one shown in the preview vid. Either way, I am loving this model and already planning how to replace its face with a serene Celennar-like visage.
  8. The Hurakan Windchargers still do nothing for me, but that Vanari Regent is bloody lovely. And there I was, about to ally in an Akhelian King to act as a mounted hero...
  9. Well, they're nice models, but they're not for me. At least, they're not for the vision I had in mind for my Lumineth - on the plus side, at least my wallet will still love me. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of you enthused folk do with them though.
  10. Having just started a Lumineth project for this year, I would be far more on-board with some kind of Sphiranx style beasty as the Wind Temple cavalry than a camel.
  11. Well, this is a cracking start to a project - I love the muted colours, and removing the horns is absolutely the right idea. The autumnal tones you've got in there are beautiful. Very much looking forward to seeing how this progresses and the other units you've done, and I'm a sucker for anything folklore inspired when it comes to Sylvaneth. Also totally agree that doing the hobby for yourself is the most important thing. There's no point chasing what the internet tells you you should be doing for a particular army, do the stuff you want in the way you want to. Please do keep posting though, because I for one want to see more
  12. Skragrott, Da Loonking No, your eyes do not deceive you – I did paint a goblin. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know how this went, but over the last month or so I was working on this chap as my entry for the Everchosen competition. Why the Loonking? No idea really, other than it being a fantastic model with loads of different things to paint, and being something entirely different to anything I’d painted for a long old time. I think the last time I’d painted any greenskin was way back in the days of 2nd Ed 40k. This chap was loads of fun though, even if all the mushrooms did drive me slightly crazy. That burnt yellow is fast becoming my new favourite colour to paint, and it was interesting to see how this model would look with my muted, Blanchitsu style applied to it. In terms of the competition itself, I entered the Loonking in the main category, and the King-In-Horns into the Open. How did I do? Well…. Silver place for both, which I was and still am incredibly happy with. I’m very aware that my style isn’t to everyone's taste, and definitely isn’t a GW/Eavy Metal competition winning style, so these results were way more than I expected. And it’s given me a hankering to do some more greenskins for AoS at some point… And finally, Their Highnesses are still on display in-store at GW, which is always a lovely thing: A few personal-view issues with how the competition was promoted and is run by GW aside, I think it was a great idea overall, and fantastic for those of us who cant spare the time, money, or patience to get along to one of the Fests or Golden Daemon competitions. More of this kind of thing please, GW. Knave
  13. Afternoon folks, and apologies for not replying sooner - been a busy old few weeks since finishing up the Court. @Arnied3, thanks very much man - great to hear you're thinking of jumping on the narrative train. I might be biased, but I think it just makes everything better in terms of how you feel about an army and how enthused you are to paint and play it. @martinwolf- Haha thanks man So it's not all been resting on my laurels over the last month or so - there was an Everchosen entry to paint (more on him in a separate post) and plans to make for my next big army project. Anyone following me on insta will know that Eldar are next up for me, with a twist of course. But once those and possibly some Inq28 goodness is done, it'll be back to the Mortal Realms for potentially some Shyish flavoured IronJawz fun. Anyhoo, thank you all very much for all the support, encouragement and kind words you've given over the course of The Darkwood Court project, its been amazing. You guys have been ace, and its been ace to know you all enjoyed this so much. Thanks for coming along, and I hope you'll join me on the next project. All the best, Knave

  16. Cheers @Thundercake, much appreciated. The King is something I'm really proud of, both in terms of how the conversion turned out and how the painting went. And Stormcast without the crests look a lot more sinister I think, definitely something to try over a larger scale at some point.
  17. “Even in death we still serve. What a cursed existence. We would choose nothing else.” Raest the Undying, Huntsman of the Crone (Lord-Celestant) Tarat Vaun and the Talons Of The Crows (Steelheart’s Champions) Eyes Of The Crows (Castigators) Wings Of The Crows (Vanguard-Palladors) ~

  20. @Lavieth - Thank you very much mate, that's really nice of you to say. It's definitely got an atmosphere and feel to it that I'm proud of. @MrZakalwe - Cheers buddy Next set of faction pics to come soon.
  21. “One man’s madness is another man’s truth.” The King-In-Horns (Drycha Hamadreth) The Kingsguard (Kurnoth Hunters with scythes) Scions of the Court (Spite-revenants) ~
  22. Afternoon chaps, just a quick little hello today while I sort the next set of pics for tomorrow. @DeathCat147, ha, thanks again mate. @Kokoshi Thanks very much mate, that's very kind of you to say. Not quite the final picture though As I mentioned earlier, there are more faction shots to come - these will show off the different sub-groups within the Court overall, with a handy reminder of names and titles. In total there will be: Nobles Of The Grove, Guardians Of The Marches, The Crone-Touched, The Hunter And His Crows, Seeds Of Hope, Magicks Of The Grey Marches. I've also got a game set for the 21st, running out the full 3k of the Court against Daughters Of Khaine again. Old battletome rules sadly as it's in a GW, so I'll doubtless lose horribly. I am looking forward to using wolf-Durthu though, and will get a bunch of pics to show off. As always, thanks for your continued interest and support - really means a lot. Knave
  23. “Bound in life and in death, in sorrow and in hate.” “The Darkwood endures.”
  24. Yeah, sorry @flamingwalnut - it is indeed all over for the Court I always set an end target for my projects, for several reasons really - firstly because I tend to do everything narrative-based rather than gaming based, so having an end to the narrative hook or point I'm exploring forces an end to the modelling side. Secondly it stops things from getting stale or simply being me repeating the same few units over and over with nothing new to say about them. Thirdly, I don't want to pull a Walking Dead and keep limping on when things should have finished in their prime. And it lets me explore new things and keep my hobby fresh. Bittersweet is what I aim for though, so glad that came across. Happy endings are for saps. Also great to hear that you've been inspired that much by the Court - that's honestly one of the things I love hearing the most, that people take something from my stuff and use it as fuel for their own hobby. And more people doing more narrative stuff is always a good thing. Hopefully the next few bits from me will entertain you just as much - I'm working on a few small palette-cleansers of 40k bits at the moment (you can see all that stuff on my instagram, knave_of_scribes), but the next AoS project is going to be a small Stormcast Cawdor skirmish warband, maybe around 500pts worth at most I think. The next bigger project for me will be at least 1k of Primaris while I decide what the next AoS thing will be. Army and group pics to come very soon folks
