AoS 2 - Kharadron Overlords Discussion

The Iron Sky Squadron warscroll battalion consists of 2-9 Arkanaut Companies and 2-9 Frigates. The Arkanauts and Frigates are all part of the same battalion, so they can be dropped at the same time if desired. Due to transport rules, you can opt to deploy units inside the frigates. These also count as one drop. So if I were going to do a one-drop (again, space out your drops if possible while still guaranteeing 1st turn initiative), it would usually go like this. Declare deployment of the Iron Sky Squadron. Frigate 1 carries Company 1, Khemist, Navigator Frigate 2 carries Company 2, Brokk, Endrinriggers (Brokk and Endrinriggers also do not count against transport capacity due to Hitchers rule) Company 3 deployed for maximum effect, either to claim an objective or maneuver into sniping position. Because the three units physically on the board at the start of turn 1 are all part of the battalion, this can be done as a single drop.

Oh undoubtedly. Was probably the most strategically intense games I played at the tournament. Like I said, I feel I mostly got lucky, and felt like dogshit when I saw how disappointed he was.

@LLV what criteria does a tournament have to meet to be included in your tables?

To be fair, this data from after the 2.0 changeover.

I'm having a hard time believing this data, but that's mostly from the disbelief that the only KO GT player with a winning record is...me.

Very interesting data! Does this take into account the NOVA Open? Edit: I guess I should ask, which GTs does this take into account for data?
  7. You have provided no evidence of cheating or incorrect TO rulings, just second-hand accounts with no effort to refute the first-hand accounts that contradict you. Edit: Furthermore, I have come to learn that the "bloodthirster on a tank" was a last-minute walk-in that was allowed by the judges in order to make the matchups even. It was not expressly made for AoS.
  8. Joseph Urban really deserves to be in the top 5. Brought a bunch of ogres, just looking for a good time, ended up going 5-1 as no one saw his list coming. All around great guy, and his models look amazing.

    Disturbing News from NOVA

Sorry. As I've been reading this there have been more inaccuracies so I must do a followup post. 1) I have contacted several people I know who were at the event, because I saw them there. I have heard no reports about what you describe. 2) Moderators are human. That said, I myself had a rules dispute, so my opponent and I went up to the moderator to get his take. He wasn't 100% sure on the answer, so he pulled out a book and we all looked up the exact wording together. That's how it was done throughout the tournament. There were only 2 moderators there, so unless one was good and one didn't give a ****** (and having interacted with both, that's not the impression I got), I don't see how the incident you describe could have taken place as described. 3) Your description of the sportsmanship score is just flat our wrong. First of all, it was a 1-4, and you were required to write your justification for the score on the sheet. Secondly, it was anonymous. You would get your opponent to sign your sheet after you had put the raw, objective data down, then fill in the sportsmanship data, THEN turn it in. Still not a perfect system, but far superior to the nonsense you describe. 4) If you're going to say it's just the "tip of the iceburg" you're going to have to go into greater detail, because so far everything you have stated about how the NOVA AoS GT has been completely wrong from my first-hand perspective, and the first-hand perspectives of those who went with me that I've shown this to in order to gauge its validity.
  10. The current scores have taken painting and whatnot into account. I should have gotten a snapshot of what the pure scores were last night.

That's what the formation is for - to allow me to control opening initiative. I'm pretty sure I took top of 1 every time, though I fought a lot of fast armies. If I could deploy in such a way as to keep my assets out of the enemy threat radius, I would give them top of 1 in a bid to gain a double turn.
  12. You cannot judge a competitive tournament on subjective qualities. It just doesn't work, and is especially prone to opponents torpedoing each other out of spite.

I would like to note, I was 20th before paint scores were factored in. *superior sniff*

Neither I nor my teammates heard any reports of that. We were actually there.
