  1. Underworld's Vampire: Sauce. Definitely feeling the paint job on this one a lot more. The armour being broken up by the cloth and the more defined hair really makes it pop. Also, Bonesplittaz confirmed for coming after Soulblight:

  2. I've put together a list of models that I think we could possibly be seeing for Death, trying to take all the rumour engines and other spoilers into account: Deadwalker hero and zombies: Giant bat or gargoyle Vampire duellists (might be the Underworlds warband) Deathrattle Hero Grant Denasty, the fastest man in Vallachia Foot Vampire knights Necromancer vampire New Deathrattle unit? Centerpiece diorama? The Creature of Ulvenkarn Any thoughts?

  5. I do agree with it working on the old school, Victorian, baroque, corset bound* vampire look. But I found the recent female sculpts to be so refreshing, badass and awesome. this model was the catalyst into stormcast for me. I actually have three now. two saved for conversions, one for the joy of painting. and that Darkoath war queen 😍 she haunts my dreams since release, and I’m still not sure if they are nightmares or not. Ordering that one as painting project at some point fo sho *vampires don’t need to breathe so it checks out.

  6. WARNING A reminder to all with the new Vampire stuff on the horizon if there are any metal/finecast characters from the Legions of Nagash line that you want then you might want to pick them up now. There is no guarantee that GW will keep any of them when the new models start launching. GW has quite a few vampire lord and such models in that grouping and some are quite classic sculpts. They'll certainly stand the test of time well and translate into the new army, but if you want the sculpts best grab them before its too late.

  7. Big hair, big ****** and not too butch. Now that's how you sculpt a female model in warhammer. Glad to see GW still have it after their recent efforts, I.e. stormcast and darkoath .

  8. I have accidently been ignoring this thread which is ironic because Fyreslayers were my first Age of Sigmar army. Obviously I am a big fan of Dwarfs in-general and Fyreslayers were a good way to tip my toes in before going all in with Kharadron. Also Slayers were my favorite aspect of the Warhammer Fantasy Universe. PROS - - I like the "Fire" theme of the army. - Feels proper Dwarfish with big axes and beards - Magmadroths are one of my favorite centerpieces CONS - - Too different from traditional Slayers (monster hunting, grudges, honor) - "Horde" Army. When I picture a Slayer army at the start, I pictured a small army of elite fighters, instead I ended up painting close to 50 naked Red Dwarfs. - Do not like the "Ur Gold" background. - Too "samey", not only is it a Horde army, but an Army where everyone looks the same. SUGGESTIONS - - Lore wise, let Grimnir get resurrected and change the theme of the army from mercenary gold finders to a cult of monster killers, each trying to outdo each other by finding a bigger beast to kill. Make them a natural enemy of SoB. - Model wise, just more variety. Smaller mounts, female models (PLEASE), Warmachines. Honestly anything that isn't Naked and Bearded. -Game play wise - Make the army smaller and more elite.

  13. Strong agree. A mix of new and returning heroes is for the best IMO. Let AoS have its own unique named heroes also taking part in the story as major players. Imagine 5 years down the line and they introduce a new 'vampire hero, Natascha lord of the Hunt' and she is leading the charge in an anti-Nagash rebellion. People will point to 10 years of history in AoS (by that point) and whine about the 'mary sue' coming in and doing what their old world counterparts couldn't or didn't. Conversely if you're releaunching the faction properly now is the time to establish your precedent, release new named heroes, name drop and lore hint new AoS characters and start building up that 'historical weight' so you're not constantly sharing things with the Old World.

  15. I for one am glad that Vampirate meme (a 100% WFB theme) can be put to rest ! I'll be happy if Vampire Coast is a playable army in TOW in five years, but given its popularity with Total War, it wouldn't have belonged to AOS .... .... Then watch the Warhammer Quest / Board game take place in a sunken pirate ship

  16. Yeah, it's a case of one of the rumour engine images being very solidly associated with a WHU silhouette and the others being up for grabs. The left-handed dagger could well be part of the first silhouette, the one resting her right-handed curved sabre on her shoulder, and the others associated with a third fighter but as you said it's not like we can define a minimum here, particularly as there's plausibly stuff we haven't seen at all. There's certainly still room for some sort of elite vampire skirmisher unit, a bit like the old Vespero's Vendetta mercenary unit for WHFB, but all statted out like heroes. That'd be rad. One thing I'd add though is that while WHU warbands do reflect particular troop choices in AoS armies, they can vary a bit in things like weaponry or presentation. With e.g. the Dread Pageant, Vasilic is a weird former Myrmidesh semi-hero whose weapons don't really reflect their loadouts and Glisette is a dismounted Slickblade Seeker, which doesn't have an exact AoS unit equivalent. So while I hope it's not the case, the WHU vampire warband could simply be presented as "those same old Blood Knights you know and love but without their mounts and now they like duelling" or perhaps a version of a more generic AoS mixed-weaponry vampire infantry unit that has a sword-and-dagger flavour.

  17. Female models aren't that common outside some factions (like khaine and sylvaneth), so it is always nice to have more representation.

  18. On the contrary, the reception amongst the Lumineth fanbase seems to have been very positive and I highly doubt GW cares about what a few screeching reactionary grognards think.

  19. Hello all ! I start this thread to show my slowly WIP on some lumineths I get, still waiting for kangaroos ^^. I tried something new with some marble effects on the armours. I would like to represent some really shiny miniatures as they are in their lore. Here mines : Some random closer pictures : Feel free to let me know what do you think about them Cheers and see you soon !

  22. I shall commence with the speculation! "You go to your death!" - Dramatic, but unlikely. Having a tabletop model is the greatest plot armor of all. "The gate will shatter!" - Excelsis, I presume, but possibly a gate to Azyr? "The earth will tear!" - Don't have a clear picture on that one. Might just be to justify the Broken Realms title, but perhaps there is more significance to it? "The sky shall eat the storm," - Storm is almost certainly a reference to Sigmar-related things, but exactly what I cannot say. What factions other than KO have a strong affiliation with the sky? This is the one I find most ambiguous. "and the serpent's tide will rise!" - My money was on Slaanesh, but @JackStreicher made a good point about DoK. Personally, I'm happy with either! "The Changer's riddle is born anew by the splintered mirror of the Dark Prince!" - I would dismiss this as a verbal flourish, but it could have ties to either Sigvald or the Newborn, which intrigues me greatly. I'm looking forward to what other folks are gleaning from this one!

  23. SPOILER FOR BR FICTION - The riddle at the end of that BR short story is definitely something important, and I'm making the call it's the order of events for BR. The first line is most certainly Excelsis and the Gate of Azyr. - Earth shifting - ugh... Who knows? Knowing what we know rn, a cryptic reference to the dead rising eg. Breaking the earth on graves etc. Could possibly mean we see Gravelords before Lumineth wave 2? - Sky eating Storm - Storm is def Sigmar here, can't think of candidates for Sky apart from Kharadron and Lumineth? If it is as I suspect Lumineth eg. Teclis, makes some sense if we find out Teclis is answering IDK/DoK call to war. The Sky has 'eaten the storm' in the sense it's caused the downfall of Sigmar and his grand order. - Serpent's Tide - either an obvious reference to Idoneth or Sotek or something cryptic. Serpent as Dragon could lead to Tyrion. Serpent as metaphorical Serpent could lead to Malerion (sly, shadowy, lying). I'm guessing this will be our grand conclusion, and if so, who the hell knows? The Serpent was also Slaanesh in Norscan worship, so possible wave 2 Slaanesh for end of BR saga with our 'missing' units? - Last line is just Tzeentch claiming the Newborn was all his plan and doing, so usual Tzeetchian all to plan nonsense. Possibly find out Newborn/Slaanesh plot is the payoff for the Penumbrel Engine Heist? Final BR book with Tzeentch being Tzeentch and 'shattering the mirror' eg. the weird trickery that's keeping Slaanesh sealed away? - Anyone with any ability to solve cryptic riddles please help I've no real idea past one line.

  24. My dream vampire faction would be Vampire foot soldiers, Vampire archers, new Blood Knights, Gargoyle type of flying beast, keep the Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon but update the warscroll a little bit and give it mount traits, update the Coven Throne's warscroll and then some other really cool center piece model. I think foot soldiers / archers like those from Underworld: Rise of Lycans would be nice

  25. If there are anti nagash vamps (as opposed to vamps who openly serve nagash while scheming against him in secret plots that never go anywhere) I will eat my hat. Nothing in the fluff suggests that's remotely possible or likely, it's like asking for there to be anti-sauron ring wraiths in an official LotR game Mordor faction. Even if vampires could directly resist Nagash's mental dominion over the undead, and I'm not aware of any lore suggesting they can, any openly anti-nagash faction is by definition not a Death faction. The Death alliance are the forces of Nagash, full stop. Even the mad, disorganized, unreliable, and rebellious Flesh Eater Courts serve nagash's interests more than they conflict with it, whether they mean to or not. If you want to play a good guy, look to Cities or Sigmarines or Sky dwarves or nature spirits. If you want to play a moody edgy antihero faction who are on team good anyway, try literally any other order faction. If you want to play tragically noble, explicitly anti-nagash vampiric antiheroes, betrayed by their creators, forced to drain the life from mortals to sustain their immortal existence, but super bitter and emo about it, that faction already exists in the Order alliance. They're called 'Idoneth Deepkin', and they're also pirates if you happen to want vampire pirates while you're at it. As for Abhorash, if we have to bring back more oldhammer heroes there's several I'd rather see (Isabella, Khalida, Krell, Dietrich). Abhorash just feels too grounded in the oldhammer tone and setting. I don't see a place for him fitting into AoS land, and the blood dragonesque vampire knights set in AoS land already have a character to lead them more in line with the tone of the setting and the faction - Vhordrai. I could maybe see bringing Abhorash back as the true identity of the Carrion King. Attempting to defy Nagash is something I could see Abhorash doing, and the FEC's particular madness of seeing themselves as noble knights is very in line with Abhorash's personality and image. He sorta fits there. If you were to bring Abhorash back and /not/ make him the Carrion King, well, I hate to say it, but he'd make way more sense as a Stormcast hero than a Soulblight one.

  28. Looks like I'm picking up a couple of new Undworld warbands soon... Loving the "sensible" (by Warhammer standards) armour and weapons for a duellist with the "Bride of Frankenstein"/Golden Age of Horror era enormous goth hair - very campgothic horror - excellent design choice. Between her and the new Vampire Lord, they are really leaning into the darkly beautiful Aristocracy of the Night vibe in a way the Von Cartsien's "I'm wearing lace near my neck" never quite could and it is excellent.

  31. So with the dual build hero, new cavalry, new cloud riding wizards and a new spirit at least the Lumineth update is looking pretty big. With a whole new death battletome, broken realms 2 a new death warband for underworlds and possibly Warhammer Quest this is looking like a very heavy focus on AoS for the next preview. I have a feeling that this is due to the delays. I think Slaanesh and the Lumineth update where originally scheduled for last year with the soulblight being the big kick off for 2021, but since they sensibly decided to make sure the got new 40k out a soon as possible it has created a bit of a log jam of AoS releases.

  32. And a lot of it is reactionary sniping from AoS players who're still mad over the negativity of 1.0 and are bitter The Old World is going to be a thing after spending years gloating that WHFB is dead and 'grogs' need to move on. Both sides are as bad as one another. Once TOW is out it'll probably (mostly) blow over though and fade into co-existence.

  33. Hi folks. I've started on the mammoth task of rebasing and painting the ~2500pts of Ogre Kingdoms I accumulated back around 2010. I find they're a nice break from my wash-focused Tyranids and Mechanicum. So far I've completed a unit of 6 Bulls/Gluttons; some of the recipes are still work-in-progress (particularly the skin and bone) and will be adjusted for future models. Next up will be a unit of 4 Ironguts. After that I've got 2 Leadbelchers, 2 Mournfangs, a Tyrant, and a Butcher to reach my notional 1K list.

  38. Underworlds does have some quirky familiars / companions in a lot of warbands, so this could be a weird bat-creature accompanying it’s vampire masters. Might be linked to the fell bat advent rumour engine. Awesome idea, she’d look great with the greenish silver armour they wear. Could also kitbash with some Melusai parts for added chaotic mutations. Now that Bonesplittaz are confirmed, a reasonable guess is that these could be the related rumour engines.

  39. Prediction or more accurately wishlisting time for undead... With current info/rumour engines we might be getting: Gothic vampirates for underwords Gothic Von Carsteins & accompanying gothic gribblies for Soulblight Gravelords Flesh eater courts for Warhammer quest. Now that would be amazing...

  40. One thing i noted on the Vampire lord was the increased neck protection, which was a nice thought given Vampires really only need to worry about decapitation on the average battlefield and a basic breastplate will stop stakes. The underworlds Vampire has some really bizarre armour choices in comparison, leaving off the basics and wearing some of the more annoying and encumbering bits of armour... Weird. At least shes not a pirate
    3 points
  41. Okay those two Vampires are great. They share common design elements while being distinct. The first one (bat-hair) is apparently designed to be a battlefield commander with a certain volume and presence to him/her, while the lady for WHU has a classic duelist pose, fitting for a small group of models and skirmish battles. Also the WARCOM article confirms we'll see the rest of the war band Saturday, that the schedule will be postponed for a month, and that ORRUK BONESPLITERZ are next for WHU ! ... So not silent people or spiderfangs (no biggy IMO).

  42. GW has shown that as well as right off the wall awesome new ideas, they've also got a really big classical fantasy lean in AoS. The new Warqueen in the Underworld Warband for Daughters of Khaine also has a very 70-80s front-of-book style classic fantasy pose. It's a really nice blend that lets GW work in the fantastical extreme along with a more solid classic style.

  47. The real question in this discourse is why does gender even matter to an immortal bloodsucking fiend. Am fairly sure they don't really bother about specific pronouns in general. The real question is will we get a new Mortarch and why should it be Vladdy?

  48. I don’t get the gender controversy about the Vampire. Who cares? You can either say thats your vamp dude ruler of all zombies or the girl vamp ruler of all zombies. I mean, what’s the point?
