  1. @Sigmarusvult See, that's exactly what I like about them. They seem to have just enough crazy, but still being like my old elves. A good blend between the two in my opinion.

  3. Weighing in on the Chaos Warrior argument: I've been playing with 40 chaos warriors for the past 2 months, trying everything from 5 man units up to 25 man units. A 5 man unit is... ok as a MSU unit that is sitting around to count as cheap battleline and sit back and hold objectives. Run them similarly to Stormcast Sequitors/liberators, don't expect much out of them, and they'll do "fine". Technically you could take units of marauder horsemen for 10 points less and still meet the battleline requirement, but if you don't have horsemen you aren't losing much by taking these guys inste

  6. So a few things we’ve learned and speculations: There are at least 6 spirits: sun, moon, mountain, river, wind and zenith (if they don’t make zenith being sun & moon together). The moon spirit is a Sphinx, the mountain spirit is a kind of bull (which would also fit with the Greek theme), and the sun spirit likely a Phoenix-dragon. The Teclian mages could mostly wear more horned/half moon themed helmets, while the Tyronian warriors have the plume-style Greek helmets. All four elements seems to have their own mage, spirit and unit model (example mountain: the “zen” mage, the

  8. I may be in the minority, but I like everything about these models - including the heads. I just hope that the old models will still blend well enough with them, otherwise it's going to get expensive.

  10. I love the entire range so far, it's easily my favourite of the new AoS ranges. I only have two quibbles with the models shown so far; Teclis' baggy pants, and the jutting bits on the sides of the mage's helmet. I can get around the former, and I'm betting the latter will look much better at a different angle. Seriously though, that mage sculpt is jaw dropping, even just the way he's (or she's? I genuinely can't tell after studying a close-up) non-chalantly keeping his staff in position without actually holding it. Phenomenal model. It's getting to the stage where Tyrion is becomi

  11. I think there's a couple things going on here beyond just the quality of the models or personal taste. For one, I think the default color scheme is kind of terrible-it looks neat at first glance, but when you really stare at the models the white cloth over white armor look really flattens out details and makes it hard to discern what exactly is supposed to be armor, ect. This is compounded by the drip feed schedule allowing everyone to ruminate about what exactly they don't like about 1-2 models for a month at a time. I also feel the combination of mostly classic design with wei

  12. yea, the bronze age style helmets are not for everyone, but it still fits in with the greco-roman style they have going on. It's kind of interesting how their are melding ancient European stuff with what looks like asian influences though, I have to say I want more.

  15. Don't forget most of what we've seen for the Luminoth has been core troops. The core line infantry, cavalry and ranged component of their army. The bread and butter of their forces. The more extreme is clearly in their more elite and leader units. A mage balancing on a tower of rock (its the old style of a mage balancing act, but with way more underneath); a hovering hero with a massive pet sphinx; a living suit of armour. There's clearly room for even more unique and crazy ideas within their army.

  17. Those reveals confirm for me that the lumineth, while nice looking minis, are too bland for me and all my hype is reported to the upcoming giants. This is not bad at all as my wallet has been hit too hard in the past month with StD and DoT.

  18. Working on some warriors to Nurgle, using the tutorial posted by Tyler Mengel on the community page (with couple of minor tweaks). Iam Doing 15 of these guys at once so each session has been to do 1 or 2 steps so as you can imagine it’s taken a while and I still have quite a bit to do, but I am in no rush.

  19. I’m starting to wonder if we’ll see a mage dedicated to each ‘element’ and maybe also a elite unit for each one. The release seems to be really big. Allthough there will probably be some dual kits. The veiled woman might be a river mage? for me they still give me enough of a high elves vibe but are also fresh and new. I’m also very curious about the subtle hints towards the ‘haven’ storyline. With the chalices on the knights, the veiled woman and now the archer champion having a bird like Araloth. But it might be nothing.

  20. I really like this guy, sure he’s got the constipated look all elves have by default, but his armor looks awesome, his runes are near dwarf levels lovely, and the horns(nuff said). All in all I look forward to converting this boy into a slave of Hashut.

  25. 30 bucks for: An Underworlds band. A Hag Queen without having to buy a Cauldron box. An Archer snake for Warcry without having to buy a box of 5 that would otherwise be much better served as Halberd Snakes. 2 to 3 [Depending on your willingness to convert] unique sculpts for our horde infantry that, while great, suffer from looking very samey. I'm glad Daughters aren't the hottest thing on the block right now because the incentives to pick this up are massive. I'll be buying 2 for sure.

  34. Barak thyrng is mad fun. Had a runefather on magmadroth take on a Deepkin turtle and solo him, a gunhauler loaded with 3 riggers and 5 thunderers take out a block of eels, and a warden king with a nice block of 30 hammerers going at it in the middle of the board with ArkCo providing support. I love the flavor and being able to bring all kinds of dwarfs is the best. Highly recommend.

  40. lol I have also ordered a Kroak and I might... ahem... have bought a second drake. Soo, if I am not mistaken, a double drake list with kroak instead of a celestant prime leaves 100 points to play with (120 if you also downgrade the incantor to Exorcist). I take it you would go for endless spells with these, but I am also hesitating with an Heraldor (useful also for the drakesworn, to which I would give storm-winged). In fact, if I had 20 points more of allies I would include a Saurus Guard to be able to get Kroak closer to the enemy

  42. I too was looking at a Khorgorath list. One thing I was squeezing in was a rage thirster. I think the Skullfiend CT and Item are both best on him. +2 attacks (possibly upto 9)and then the AoE mortal wounds can often kill multiple support heroes so doubling the blood tithe can be really good. Its fun as for me the coolest aspect of Khorne is more around suicide MSU style (although as said maybe not the most competitive but you have to enjoy what you play).

  43. I really like the archers and especially the mage. It is exactly the kind of wackiness I like to see in AoS. I am really curious to see how deep this range goes. We have got the hammerers coming and presumably Tyrion. I am hoping we see a monster or two, at least 3 more unnamed characters and some heavy cavalry or a flying unit.

  45. I am holding off on judgment right now for the Lumineth. I really, really like the Dawnriders and so I want to like this faction. The spearmen seemed pretty meh (not bad just not much of anything to me) and the archers are...odd. Same with the mage (though a different head might help). So my hopes right now are pinned on the not-White Lions with hammers.

  47. This looks like fun! If you do some Hero, judgement, and battleline shifting, you could squeeze in the units you need for the Skulltake Battalion, to make those Khorgoraths just that much worse!

  48. I am afraid I do not follow you. There are plenty of counterplay against Anvilstrike lists. Don't deploy valuable units within 24" of longstrikes so that their double shoot command ability cannot be used on crucial units. Put the heroes within 3" of friendly units. Or even better, deploy terrain peaces cleverly and hide your important heroes for buffs. Use numerical superiority to flood the SCE, which most of the factions can easily do. Aetherwings can be disposed of with even minimum shooting and magic. Or use double move abilities like Bladeds of Khorne and Orruk Warclans.

  49. WIP of my Magmadroth! I'm currently done with the 'skin'. Now I just need to do the head and all the horns/claws (they will get a bone-colour) and Ur-Gold runes. I'm going for more classic lizzard/dragon look. Fully painted this guy with contrast as a try-out, because I never tried it before and was a bit sceptical. Turns out you can actually blend really nice with it and can make nice shading with it. What do you guys think?
