  6. The "Who Fights First" article throws us a minor bone by the way. Probably just cementing what we already knew, but if Boarboy Maniaks pile in for the second time at the end of the phase, and bring in a unit that was previously not in combat, that unit will not get to retaliate because the "during" window has passed - they cannot be selected as an alternating unit in the "end of" sub phase.

  7. By bringing the battalion you get a CP (worth 50 points), plus a relic. Given how awesome our relics are now, that seems worth quite a bit. If you’re already bringing a Slaughterpriest and the Bloodstoker the Dark Feast can easily be VERY worth its points even if you don’t get optimal use out of the Reavers.

  8. If you choose Goretide slaughterhost: Command Ability - Ever Onwards: During your movement phase, before you make a run move, you may use this ability on 1 friendly Goretide Bloodreaver or Goretide Blood Warrior unit wholly within 16" of a friendly model with this command ability. If you do so, that run roll is auto 6. In addition, that unit can run and charge this turn. Reavers kept their +1 run/charge banner, and you can still whip them for +3 run/charge, so this ability allows you to get a block of 40 across the field turn one I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure you can spam this with multiple CP. @andysonic1 I'm with you on the turn 1 tarpit Reaver blob. Im trying to do that and move in withg the Warriors on flanks for nasty turn 2 backline charge. Im thinking its best to let opponent go first (Secrator banner aint what it used to be) then hope for a double turn or good support system to keep stuff alive.

  12. So there's an interesting rules interaction which occurs here. Both the Balewind and the Arachnocauldron say "treat the spell and the caster as one model" and both require that the spell be placed within 1" of "the caster". This means that the exact interaction is entirely dependent on which spell you cast first. If you cast the balewind vortex, you place it and put the wizard on top. Then when you cast the cauldron you place it within 1" of the balewind since it and the caster are "one model". If you cast the cauldron first then it and the wizard are "one model". Then when you cast the Balewind you have to place the "caster" ontop which INCLUDES the cauldron, since they are both "one model". That's pretty wacky haha.

  13. A WLV at 500 would be absolutely devasting and many people will probably not have the tools to unbind it. You have to be careful of your partners units however.. If you get matched with a combat oriented list you'll have a harder time placing it. Note that if you brought one, your 500 points would look pretty barebones: Grey Seer (most reliable low point caster to get off the WLV), 2x20 Clanrats for battleline and the Vortex. If that doesn't go off, you won't be doing much. I would honestly invest the extra 60 points to get the much tankier Arch-Warlock and his Warpstorm spell is still great (I Just would never risk overcharging it in this list since he's so important). I say give it a shot and see how it works for you. The engineer/bombardier have a lower profile so you may be able to hide them a bit easier if you feel the need. Vermintide is good but I find it best used in combination with a WLV and even then much of your damage here is coming from WLV, other magic and shooting. 5 Acolytes are not worth buffing if that's why you want to bring them.. They're really just used as a Skryre battleline filler to hold home objectives. If you want to buff them, you really need 20-30 to get anything done with them in my opinion.

  14. As long as you position them in a way that you can draw a line from the enemy base to your base and it’s 1” you can attack. bronzed flesh is a prayer that a slaughterpriest can pick as prayer option. If you roll a 4+ with the prayer you can add 1 to the save of the friendly unit you target.

  15. Prepare for the same nonsense when near the banner thing, those space demons reroll everything too. And their summoning is cheesy, while their shooting is broken 😂👍 always remember to hit their weak spots first, stupid toad-mummy and their banners or crazy machines. Kinda like us, whacking at the skellis is kinda stupid, when three heroes and three gravesites are around. Beware of the carnosaurus scream thingy and best of luck! The list is a classic, so not much wrong there, I wouldn’t field Archai (5+ MWs save), but harvesters (3d6“ charge). Still the halberds through. how to deck out your heroes?! If you play with realm artifacts, ethereal amulet is kinda the consensus. If you don’t, morghebs claw for the necro, to get his spells in. merciless hunter or unholy impetus as traits, depending on your strategy (lord with morghast or without). that‘s about it, classic list, classic strategy, so your opponents might come prepared, Rest are details... need to see what goes in your local meta. Be aware of the fact, that a lot of LoN power comes from synergies and doing it right. No malintent, but if you’re playing undead for the powercreep (fine by me) you can get smashed pretty bad by people who know how to counter LoN, especially since their pretty strong showing in the top tier scene. Somewhere in this forum ianob linked a podcast of his, with the titel „How to defeat LoN“ that gives a good overview over our weak points 😂👍

  18. Yep on the 40K side I really hope Eldar are next! Orks and Chaos have had big updates; Marines get continual updates; Tyranids are pretty much all updated (I wouldn't say no to new heads for gaunts or plastic duel kits for the lictor/deathleaper and bio/pyrovores); Necrons, Dark Eldar and Tau all have new fancy toys and good solid ranges; Sisters of Battle are getting a big update whilst Orks and Chaos have had/are having a big update. Genestealer Cults got a massive update - so yeah the last thing on the table for an established functional army is Eldar

  20. I've posted up the Rundown for my Bonegrinz list, take a look and let me know your honest feedback. I'm not one of those people who asks for feedback and then tries to shoot it all down to prove they were "right", so please do let me know your thoughts on any changes you would make! Especially with the Big Stabbas - would you keep them in there, or is that a bit of fat? https://thehonestwargamer.com/aos-list-rundowns/dakka-dakka-dakka-shooting-is-back-baby/ Edit: Browing the Rundowns on THWG, I noticed that Ben Savva has a very similar list (he did use the 200 points differently, taking a Prophet and Cogs instead of the Stabbas). FWIW I did not copy Ben's list, we arrived at similar lists independently, as this post of mine from January hopefully demonstrates! And I'm sure he used it better than me too

  21. I've done the maths on fully buffed units of Jezzails... It's pretty disgusting. It's something like 9 Jezzails = 17.3 wounds and 3 mortal wounds on average when buffed with +1 to hit, rerolls to hit/wound, +1 damage. at 30in range and -2 rend. You'll melt or at least seriously hobble most heroes who don't have a decent ward save or a 2+ armor save. You'll pretty much wipe out most low model count elite units And you'll put anything else in significant threat of serious battleshock damage. also you take damage from 2 of those buffs next turn so the unit's power goes down a bit, but it's probably worth it to delete a support character every turn. if you lose 2 each turn to the buff damage, you're still doing 15.5 + 2.3 wound next turn and 11.1 + 1.6 the following turn. As for 30 acolytes, I know they look great on paper, especially buffed but I can't see it being easy to use their 8" range, especially on a table that has another 100 clan rats all over it. Run and shoot is great of course but I just feel a unit that size would be difficult to use. Maybe it's just a matter of charging something, wiping it out in shooting and hoping to stay alive that way. Doom wheels..... I think they are pretty fun. 4D6 movement is random of course but it's a decent average and huge potential to suddenly pop up somewhere unexpected. The damage output is random but I think if you maybe have 2 doomwheels coming down a flank, they can be a big problem for your opponent. I do agree that a warp lighning cannon is probably a better use of almost the same points though. Doomwheel is a much cooler unit though and makes for a more interesting army visiually, espeically if you don't have any other centerpice units like verminlords, bells/furnaces or hell pits. Though I think almost every army will have at least 1 of those (or thanquol).

  22. We need to all mail each other our Big Stabbas to borrow! I only own 8 lol. Side note: How amazing would it be if you got 2 free stabbas for every 8 orruks and they were just part of the unit (like netters) with mixed bases. This would be cool for ogres as well that come with a few grots in the box. Help them gain models for objectives. I really like the idea of mixed based units. 26. “A lord becomes a beggar. A god becomes a fairytale. A name once whispered in awe now lies forgotten by all. Tell me, o King, what is left for you?” Mother Aldwynter ~ ~ The King sits upon his shattered throne and broods, and curses, and weeps. By turn’s melancholic, choleric, febrile, and caustic in his bitterness, he has not known peace for longer than he remembers. Indeed, memory itself is a fickle ally for this King. He remembers little of what came before, and what he does remember is fragmented and contradictory. It is this more than anything that pains him. Were he to forget everything, to know only his current station, would his madness pass? Would he be one again with the Eversong, instead of a dissonant and faint note? Would his rage still burn cold and fierce? But in knowing these fragments, in knowing that some are true, that some are false and that none can be trusted – it is this uncertainty that fuels his bitterness and rage and misery. It is one thing to remember glories past, and mourn their passing. It is quite another to not even know if the glories that you remember are even yours, or if they are simply things that you have stolen to give yourself some borrowed shine. If you cannot tell whether you are a great man fallen low, or a thief clutching at stolen treasures and living a lie, how then can you know peace? The King remembers a spear, and horns, and a great forest that outlived the world entire. He bears horns still, in spirit and in heavy obsidian that bursts from his aging bark. The spear has become a scythe, the eternal forest a cold and barren prison at the edges of dreams. Was he ever truly a King? Was his Queen ever so wrathful and beautiful and real? Or is he simply a broken and shattered thing, cast aside and forgotten, clutching to echoes of past glory that are not even his? Uncertainty. Rage. Malice. Madness. Misery. A crown that he may have stolen, or may have saved. A throne he may not have earned or that may be the only thing keeping his grove alive. A life that he at once abhors and hates, but clings to with such ferocity and pride. He will never set down his crown, but will rail and spit against it for all his life. Like the Darkwood itself, the King-In-Horns endures. ~ “A broken throne for a broken King.” “Regal and ragged both, dying and blossoming at once.” “Dreaded and lauded, forgotten and exiled to the cold ends of the worlds.” “Our King. Our curse. Our hope.” ~

Feels really strange haha 😅 Got a chance to spray my Mortarch so that's my treat before I check out some cool new nighthaunt stuff to add.

  29. The armor was successfully printed. It's a bit of a hassle to place it and you should cut off the big spike-heads in order for it to fit perfectly (also works without cutting but looks less good). In the images the armor has been dry-fitted, glued with super-glue and it has already been primed https://www.shapeways.com/shops/mad-cake

  32. Yeah I like that, very smart. Threatening the back board turn 1 with your shooting, then +5 to charge when you add in Brutal Beast Spirits, Zooooooooom! Gives you quite a few cracks at dispelling too, with the 2x casts from the Prophet (3x if you choose to slow down Cogs). No it's one of each spell per army (I have had a game where both players cast Cogs ). I do like the suggestion though.

  33. Serious note thou... I don't know if it is better, I don't know if it is more fun, but Bonegrinz with the mandatory 2 casters is 1750. Ever played with adding in gloomspite endless spells? Do we still need 1 drop? would 2 or 3 be fine? Add in the mushroom bomb and a caster to come in at 1910? maybe add in a cave sham? This is 2 drops. You can't cast both those spells in a single turn but maybe you will have games where they can't dispell 1 and you get the other up as well. Might be a blast to play with. If you own 2 models and pay twice can you have 2 mushroom bombs? Pretty sure there are some rules on that in the endless spell section but I don't remember if it says yes you can or no you can't. 100% you can't cast 2 in the same turn but maybe you can lay down double clouds over 2 turns. Ben Savva's list is nice since he uses those 250 for 2 unbinds with +1 (Prophet and paint) and adds cogs for 1 of the 2 spells the prophet will be casting. I don't have the book open but I think cogs is 2 to movement (in any phase?) so that is an extra 4 inches of alpha strike if he needs it. 2 in the hero and 2 in move (double check that). I have seen him play on stream in which if he alpha strikes he then typically charges (at +4 from cogs and drums) to tag a single model in to slow the enemy down for a turn. I've bought quite a bit, and I'm now trying not to just buy a whole bunch of Kharadron Overlords all at once to expand my Dwarfversity (I am not sorry) I may have to buy some Fyreslayers, but as a standalone faction they bore me. Whose bright idea was it to name the leader of each unit the Karl? Every. Single. One.

  41. If you have a warshrine you can take the priest that comes with it and put him on a 40mm base. He looks great as a slaughterpriest. If you want to use warshrine as well then either balance him on top (if you're not using him as a slaughterpriest) or put some etb bloodreavers on the shrine. I did this and it looked great (sad times I sold my old khorne).

  42. If everything stayed the same...sure. Want another prediction that will likely come true? Our Khemist buff is going to either go to a command ability, be wholly within x" of the khemist (most likely) or even become a different kind of buff (like reroll wounds). Would that kill KO too? Sure...if everything else stayed the same. We literally have no idea what is coming down the pipeline. Imagine a world where embarking counts as garrisoning, where you can shoot 20 Company guns from within a Ironclad, which itself could have its armor save drop to 3+ base and be immune to rend, or whatever and you could melee from the ship with your skypikes. Imagine a world where we have an armywide buff called "Sharpshooter" or "Deadeye" or whatever, that lets us ignore Lookout Sir!, or hell, what if it simply let us ignore all penalties to hit while shooting ranged attacks? What if we got new warscroll versions of all our boats that included baked in heroes on the ships (this would be an easy alternate build for the boats, they would treat the ships as mounts), that would let us give us the ability to equip those heroes with items and claim points in Arcane places of power? Or imagine a world where Thunderers dropped to 80 points for 5 and became battleline, Gunhaulers dropped to 100 points and became battleline, and Skywardens and/or Endrinriggers could become battleline with certain heroes as generals? What if we got new battalions that let us include Dispossessed and/or Fyreslayers in our force without counting as allies, or we gained the ability to embark units from those factions on our ships? What if Navigators or Endrinmasters gained a set of mechanical drones that functioned like Khorne's new judgments and could buff allies and attack or debuff enemies? What if all of the Skyports were upgraded to be as enticing and competitive as Zilfin? What if we simply got a couple more kits like aether-powered Grundstock assault troops to give us some melee punch or generic admirals like Brokk that can be customized? The aethersphere is literally the limit with what could be. Want to hear some more good news? Rumors suggest we'll have a new book in our hands within the next 8 weeks and, if the last 4 books released this year are any sign, then the new book will be on the cutting edge of the meta and be competitive in every sense of the term. There is absolutely no reason for doom and gloom right now.

  43. Karanak also dropped in points compared to what he was in Wrath and Rapture, so I definitely think he's worth taking. It's 160. He's not bad persay, it's that his command ability is not as strong as it used to be, sadly. Re-rolling 1's to wound is just, "ok", especially in Goretide, where that's a built in bonus while being wholly within 12" of an objective. His damage output is still stupid though with Gorecleaver and rolling 6's to wound, as that's 6 damage per 6 rolled, or 7 if he's the General in Goretide. And speaking of Gorecleaver damage output, I've figured out the damage output for the Mighty Lord with said artifact. You're doubling the result of the d3 roll on a 6 to wound, not rolling 2d3. If he's the General, you then add 1 to the damage if he's Goretide. This means he does an absolute minimum of 3 damage. In fact, he can only do 3, 5, or 7 damage, depending on what you roll for the d3 damage result.

  46. Played 1.5k against the Brayherds tonight. friend of mine was complaining about their ambush/summoning shenanigans, so I figured to shenanigan right back. Coven throne, vamp lord and necromancer, with 2x5 puppies and 30 skellis... and two terrorgheists. The Thron and the gheists were biding their time, waiting for openings and counter chances. Played scenario 3-6, 4 corners, own objectives 1vp and opponents 3vp The bait in true heroic fashion in terrain (he put it there, not I) vamp lord with his dogs protecting the other objective. After he brought in his troops, my TGs jumped right into the fun. Insta-gibed 2x10 ungors with screams (6+6-4...byebye). The other TG engaged the 30 block of whatever beastmen and brawled (the maw is king). he charged in too late with his bulls... I forgot to bring in my throne turn 2, brilliant idea, so the ladies could sneak steal the second opponents objective.
