  1. Which is a crying shame considering that kit is every single thing thing that was wrong with Kirby GW . 60$ for 10 25mm models you need at least 60 of to be useful? Check. Dual kit to both trick people into thinking the price is more reasonable than it is while also forcing you to buy even MORE? Check. No options outside of musician/banner/Champion? Check. ONLY 5 DIFFERENT SCULPTS IN A 60 BOX OF 25 MM INFANTRY? Check. The only way it could be more Kirby is if it claimed it was a model model and not rules model and bragged about never doing any market research.

  2. Here's the first test model I did for my Blight kings. I plan on doing 5 Blight Kings in this manner and the other 5 I will do in another color scheme.

  3. I do not really see it. Make a big deal of a long running Campaign about Death and Shysh, then at what is likely to be the height of that Campaign release the Aelves of Hysh and Uglu? That would be so jarring, I can almost see GW do it. I think it is good to keep in mind that none of the correct predictions where awefully hard to guess. We had plenty of hints for all three by early November. Guess the most likely stuff for the next months, then predict something entirely out of the left field for the longer term is an established pattern of false rumors.

  4. This is definitely an article that will appeal to many. On November 27, 2017, on the Advanced Tau Tactica forum, user Haechi posted the information he had about the releases in early 2018, but for a while it was not possible to verify if it was a reliable source. According to Haechi's information, at the beginning of January we would have seen the Chaos Demons for Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar, while at the end of the same month we would have seen the Custodes. This is exactly what we have seen and we will see during this month. This information arrived well in advance and was even accurate in placing Demons and Custodes in both parts of January. It therefore makes sense to illustrate what other outputs are planned by Haechi, along with some new information posted after receiving confirmation on Demons and Custodes. First half of February : Adeptus Custodes. Second half of February : Thousand Sons. First half of March : T'au Empire. Second half of March : Necron. Between April and May : Drukhari, Arlecchini and two new elven armies for Age of Sigmar. This could also confirm what I theorized in the recent vocal message on the Astropath Telegram Channel , namely that the Battletome: Legions of Nagash will not be accompanied by new models, but will serve to put Death in step with the rules of the other Great Covenants while the new models will come later. Presumably end of May or June. All of this still falls into the rumors, but the source proved to be extremely accurate with regards to January's releases, so we could trust it.

  5. With the new Nurgle releases I've been inspired to dust off some mothballed Nurgle units I've had lying around for some time and with that I figured a painting blog would be fun. Here are the models I currently have which I will be painting up in the coming months. Glottkin 10 Plaguebearers Herald of Nurgle 3 Nurglings 3 Plague drones Gutrot Spume Lord Of Plagues 10 Blight Kings For once in my life I will do my best to avoid going out and buying a bunch of new models and then succumb to some sort of painting depression brought on by having a seemingly insurmountable heap of models to paint (fingers crossed) So I intend to paint everything I have above before getting a new and juicy Great Unclean One for instance. I'm a very casual gamer but I do enjoy a game or two with friends so I thought I'd start painting things in an order that would allow me to start fielding the army as soon as possible. So I'm thinking I will try out a 1000 pts army containing Glottkin, Gutrot, 10 Blight kings and 10 Plaguebearers. I suspect this is probably a pretty bad list so if you have suggestions on other list made with the above units I'd love to hear about it. Now enough talk and let's start of with the first pics of the blog: I started off with Nurglings because I wanted to get a feel for the painting scheme I will be using for the green flesh on my Plaguebeares and my Glottkin: For the skin I started off with Ogryn Camo which I followed up with a recess shade of Biel-Tan Green. Then after a glaze of Waywatcher Green I layered Ogryn Camo back on (here it helps to thin your paint with Lahmian medium to make it easier to get a smooth result) then I added Flayed One Flesh to the Ogryn Camo mix to smooth highlights on open areas of the skin like the top of the head, shoulders etc. Finally I did a finer edge highlight of Flayed One Flesh. Next up will be five of the Blight Kings so stay tuned for that =)

  7. its not like gw has never released a battletome and next thing they do, they release new units that could be on that tome. Poor sces suffer from that all the time.

  10. I thought it would be nice to have a thread so people could post their painting progress and share ideas for colour schemes/conversions etc. For me, I’m 2 warbands down and 2 (so far) to go. Stormcast: Sepulchral Guard: Gonna do Orcs (Orruks?) next. Any recommendations for colour schemes would be very much appreciated.

  14. Having been overtly trolled by the rumour engine all the way through last year, I dont want too say it but... Cthulu Elves? (The Necromunda tentacle, the pet dragon and the snail shell from Slimux etc;) Edit: On the other hand, a poster of another forum pointed out that looks akin the head of a baby "Chaos Spined Beast" (Forgeworld) With the new precedent of having "familiars" for every character/model might we be actually be seeing some more Darkoath stuff?

  20. Its really not fair to spread so much hope. I know its a rumour and this is a rumour thread but I am still going to feel so let down If it turns out false and new Aelves wont be released this year.

  21. Thanks guys =) Yeah I'm trying to copy the 'eavy metal style. I enjoy trying to figure what paints were used etc. It's mostly because it's catching the light though it is fairly void of any corrosion since I figure the cutting surface would be quite worn from use =) Now that you mention it however maybe I should add some blood on it. I edited my earlier post now with cropped photos that better fit this forum format.

  23. In the realm guide light and dark realm circle each other or something. So a box with dual options is a possibility. Should be interesting.

  24. Durkhari und Harlequin probably will just be codices. With the AoS-Elves it might be possible, that they share models and units, at least as duel-build boxes, allowing to either build a light or a dark version, thus making it more one released army with two accompanying books rather than the usual one, but counting as one army release wise.

  25. Guess, if true, it's interesting (maybe odd) to see 4 elfesque releases in 2 months. Like that makes sense when it's daemons and mortal companions (AoS) and daemons and chaos space marines (40k) as they share the daemon models. It almost makes you want to think both are coming with some shared 'allied' gribblies that aelves and their 40k equivalent might share... but - and I am very shaky with 40k knowledge at the moment - the models for Drukhari and harlequins are pretty much complete (so it's rules) right?

  26. Wow! There are some gorgeous models here. I've only completed the Orks and Reavers but I'll make my own contribution. PS: I love the ghostly Guard some of you have posted and I think I'ma try to paint mine similarly. Look amazing and I'm told its fairly easy and quick!

  27. Back to Nurgle as I finish off Blightwar. I couldn't be bothered to paint my new Plaguebearers the same as my old, as I now have many more paints than I did around 10 months ago. I Progress has pleased me though, as I am happier with my WIP mini than I am with my old completed guy!

  28. Cheers. Yeh they work well and create a nice finishing touch for very little effort. Well like @Sleboda, I’m also pleased to say I’ve finally finished my 4 Warbands. So here’s some really rubbish dark pics of my Sepulchral Guard. Once again I quickly followed the WHTV guide and they came out really well. They are not at all flat as they look here. Again very happy with how these have come out for the time invested. Im pleased that I managed to catch up and get everything painted ahead of the Skaven release. Puts me in good stead going forward. I’ll be running some Shadespire demos at Boss Miniatures in Weymouth on 27/01 and will have all 4 Warbands in the cabinet. Enjoy!

  31. I predict daily updates will fall off relatively soon. Is your project 365 based on 365 hours or models, I've seen people do both, looks like models? FWIW I tend to only log things per month and run a +/- swing against the run rate of 1/day. There will always be periods where you're working on large complex model, go on holiday, family stuff, etc etc that gets in the way, so you generally don't track along at a regular rate. These lulls are then offset by things like a unit of 30 basic dudes where you suddenly chunk out a whole month's worth of figs in a single lump. Hope you find it motivational to do, it's always something I've enjoyed having a log of but it's not a specific target for me this year.

  33. Making the jump from lurking to posting with my first two warbands Painted up the SE and Skellies. The Stormcast are supposed to have a colour-shifted celestial vindicators scheme (teal to green and red to pink). Not happy with the gold, I'm having trouble with ink-shading the Vallejo liquid metal paints. Skellies are ethereal (therefore easier to paint) except for the warden, who I thought would make a good undead chaos warrior with just a little kit-bashing. The helmet is a *little* big, what with the Chaos Warrior kit being a pre-digital, heroic sculpt style, but it doesn't bother me too much. (Colours may be off due to using two different coloured bulb lamps as makeshift lightbox)

  35. Afternoon, Some lovely work here. I particularly like the Stormcast colour schemes from @Zlatan and @Turragor, as well as @Sleboda's basing (the brown and grey is perfect). My plan for Shadespire is quickly painted models in the GW schemes. These are very much game pieces to me, much more so than AoS due to how often each individual model will be handled. Still, I'm confident I can create nice looking warbands that are practical on the table (no fancy conversions etc*) and will survive wear and tear due to varnishing. First up, Steelheart's Champions (excuse the poor photo); *Some people will have seen my pirate Ironskull's Boyz, which are extensively converted. These are for use in AoS where I'm less likely to accidentally snap off a banner pole etc! I have another set of the Orruks that I'm painting as per the WHTV video. They are taking a little longer than fits my brief due to having to strip them twice (struggled to get a solid yellow basecoat with the spray, will discuss in my thread elsewhere). Chris
