  1. Not to disparage the entirety of the 40k fan base, but you've got to realise that a scenario where the heroic protagonists are strong, universally male and racially intolerant, has the potential to attract someone of a certain political persuasion... Those people tend to be quite reactionary toward inclusion as a concept, which they see as an attempt to curb their freedom. I think it's a difference in political demographics - the AoS community is generally much more mature, tolerant and friendly.

  2. Can we please not have the Custodes discussion here. I've seen how out of control and toxic it's got on 40k sites. We really don't need that here.

  3. +++ MOD HAT +++ Just tidied up a few posts - apologies if yours was one of them. You all know what's expected of you on TGA, please keep this in mind before posting. Additionally to remind - this is an AoS forum, if you wish to talk about non AoS things like TV shows and actor casting, please can you take it elsewhere, especially if what you're posting is likely to cause controversy.

  5. Yes there's a rumour... coming out of a random 4chan post... Which ends with "my father works at Nintendo". It says a lot about the level of the debate really. The past few days made me feel so happy that AoS, for all it's flaws, is not saddled with with the "boys club" lore.

  6. She announced that she was stepping down back in January. It's not entirely surprising that someone leaving a long term job would sell their stake. The stock price is down for two reasons. The first is that GW announced the reduction of their dividend. GW has been paying a lot of it's profit to share holders in the form of dividends for a while to point that they are in danger of eating into the company's cash flow. They are still giving a dividend which means they still believe they have excess profit to share with stock holders. The second is that the whole sector's growth is slowing. We've seen this slowdown in board and card games which collectively saw their sales fall last year. The video game space has seen mass lay offs over the last year or so. GW'S biggest rival Asmodee who owns Mass atomic games of MCP fame just got spun off by the Embracer group and saddled with a bunch of debt. GW is comparatively in a very safe place. Their performance has been solid but their rate of growth has declined since COVID boom. Most of the people buying and selling GW shares probably wouldn't even know what a space marine is.

  7. the assumption of this "quota" thing drives me up a wall... even if it does exist it is a purely vapid, profit-driven decision and based on nothing else. and why would be a slap to intelligence..? why would anyone assume ANY IP's lore is immutable? this isn't a history book, it is fiction. you're not getting "gaslit" and we should already know by now that trusting corporations is a fool's game. this is one of the most nothingburger lore additions they've done. The Primaris debacle was 10x worse than this. edit: you're allowed to be disappointed, sad, angry, whatever at decisions made in a narrative you care about. but GW has constantly done this throughout their history, just like Tolkien did with LOTR and basically everyone else does with their own IPs. in the grand scheme of lore changes, this is truly nothing but GW filling in an omission in a faction they're trying to develop further.

  9. I think itโ€™s real interesting that a lot of people suddenly care super hard about changes to the lore pretty much entirely when it involves anything getting less straight, white and male. The custodes thing has been very handy for finding out which content creators can happily go on the block list.

  10. I like how the only way you can tell that the Stormcast on the far right is a woman is the shape of the breastplate. And the fact that the Age of Sigmar community is cool enough to be completely fine with having female super soldiers.

  13. It is the most forced moral outrage campaign I've ever seen regarding popular culture. Oh no, a slight retcon in a sea of various and massive changes to established canon? Won't somebody think of the children. Why did every media "critic" on YouTube make a video on the subject even though they have never even referenced Warhammer before? Why did the Daily Mail write an article about GW going Woke by making lady Custodes and use pictures of Stormcast in said article? Why did every vocal Holocaust denier on twitter begin talking about how sacred the lore of Warhammer is even though they couldn't tell you the slightest thing about it? It is a grift, nothing more and nothing less. Just ignore it, in a month they will be gone once their culture war Shepard have taken them to a different pasture to yell at rainbows

  14. What if... the "weird" things that claimed @Whitefang for the next edition are new cross-allegiances factions: - Chaos Duardin: Chaos-Destruction - Malerion Daemons: Chaos-Order - Silent People: Death-Destruction - Followers of Morr: Death-Order

  15. I think there's a lot of consternation about the idea of stepping away from the hobby as of it's some kind of failing. If the current game isn't doing it for you, do something else and by that I mean something completely different. There's nothing wrong with that and it doesn't mean the move has to be permanent. I stepped away from the hobby completely for almost ten years. Since I've come back I try and keep a better balance between the hobby, video games, other hobbies like cooking and sport I now enjoy the hobby much more than I did as a teenager when it consumed most of my free timem I have a much tighter budget now so I only buy something I'm really excited about and I try not to buy day one. If I miss out on a fomo thing, I don't worry about it. As for staying in the hobby, finishing projects can be very satisfying. I just finished painting the whole Dominion box set. It felt great. I try and keep projects manageable for that reason. The idea of buying a whole army at once is insane to me. If the lore isn't satisfying try writing your own. White Dwarf had a year long campaign focused on destruction. There's no reason you couldn't do something like that in your own games. I remember there was a well known Bonesplitterz player on the UK competitive scene whose personal challenge was to kill every monster in the game. They didn't particularly if they won or lost so long as they got to kill a new monster for the first time. Recently I was listening to Hey woah an AoS streamer. He told an awesome story about playing a Slaanesh player at Adepticon. The Slaanesh player painted, sold and then repainted the same Slaanesh army every edition, with the aim of doing it better each time. There's a well known converter who does crazy kitbashes and then runs them at Warhammer world events. His latest army is a heavily modified FeC army that he will run with the Ogor Mawtribes rules. GW themselves said its ok for him to run that army. There isn't a single actual Ogor in the army. So taking your Bonesplitterz and running them as some other faction is a completely legitimate option. I find these examples inspirational which is a big motivating factor for me. The important question you need to ask yourself is what you actually love about the game. If you come up with nothing then it's probably time to step away for a while but if there's an answer to that question for you then double down on it.

  19. Which is the absolute worst way to balance the game. "Have free victory points" feels good for nobody. The player doesn't feel like their army is any stronger, and the opponent feels like they're being cheated.

  20. The YouTuber is wrong. Custodes are selected at birth, for their genetic suitability and built from the ground up. That to me is one of the biggest ironies of the whinging. Half of those complaining of fluff changes donโ€™t even know the fluff they supposedly care so much about.

  21. A Youtuber I followed said "Custodes are chosen from the strongest applicants and women aren't as strong as men". That's why Sigmar is better. He picked his Stormcast not for their physical strength but their strength of character. He could mold the rest into a warrior's body. Behold Garradan, a healer who defended his patients with candlesticks. Not a warrior, not an athlete, certainly not a gene-enhanced warrior. Now behold Gardus Steel Soul, who needs no ****ing introduction. The Emperor says "only the worthy". The Hallowed Knights cry "Only the faithful."

  23. There already are men in sisters of battle. The priest stuff is mixed gender already. If you mean as in making the core sororitas mixed gender, there would have been a backlash yes. Gender is a core part of the faction, since sisters have always had a strong Joan of Arc/nun theme. Many players were drawn to them because of that theme. Like space marines have a strong warrior monk theme, with chapter monasteries and the like. Custodes have never had that gendered theme. People have dug out references to โ€œmenโ€ and โ€œsonsโ€ and the like. Sure. We also refer to โ€œmankindโ€ and use man pretty much to refer to humans in general. Given each one is meant to be individually sculpted into something that barely resembles a human, gender hardly matters. I do have sympathy for the custodes fan who got into them entirely due to the fantasy of being surrounded entirely by incredibly buff, oiled beautiful men though. I feel many people complaining wouldnโ€™t list that as a reason though.

  26. Itโ€™s just Chuds being Chuds, itโ€™s already starting to full down now that their main instigators are moving onto attacking Battletech & Pokemon for going โ€œWokeโ€(though the Pokemon Go avatar is atrocious, no two ways about that. But thatโ€™s laziness, not agendas) Theyโ€™re just being ridiculous now anyone like believing a 4chan poster(who literally said โ€œtrust me my uncle works at Nintendoโ€) about Amazon forcing the change and Cavill about to walk out. When the YouTubers are reporting stuff like that as credible you know theyโ€™re out of stuff to whine with. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Yeah, they both have much thinner bellies which Iโ€™m guessing could be the aesthetics of Man-Eaters & other Alliance Ogors going forward. Gutbusters & Beastclaws= big stomachs from unchecked eating that caused massive damages in the Realmscapes that showed their migration paths. Order, Chaos, Death Ogors: flatter stomachs from either having to manage their food intake to exist in a city, chaos cruelty or either being undead or death powers siphoning nutrition.

  29. Whoa whoa whoa! Was this mentioned here and I missed it? Had spotted it on Discord for a new Omnibus for the Mortal Realms. Seems it has stories jumping between the first ever AoS novel โ€œGates of Azyrโ€ to the newer stuff like Dominion. Very nifty to see with how much AoS4 has felt like a big callback to AoS1 so good to get newbies caught up and absolutely beautiful cover. Thatโ€™s an insta-buy for me! ๐Ÿ‘Œ โšก๏ธ (Plus anything Josh is a must)

  31. out of work now to talk about the great minis Grombrindal: remind me again about how the other grombrindal models work do they all going into legends or are they just not get rule and are just merch because i can't really see if the primaris dwarf being in the game either way yes this model is perfect all this needed was a Dispossessed Dwarves wave to coming soon and i would have pre-order it faster than 40k scalper The different Kharadon and Fyreslayer subtle iconography mixed with the Khazalid (which once again is still distinct from the TOW dwarfs) just add to it great it is now excuse me if i take one more hopium and put this out

  35. I've been working on my 90's style Chaos Dwarfs. These are using 3D prints from Fabelzel, Brawniac and Meshy Mesh. What I have painted so far that is a Chaos Dwarf: The unit of Chaos Dwarfs with a Sorceror First unit of Blunderbusses - I think the Fireglaives are probably the "correct" choice, but these models are just too fun to leave out of an army. A better shot of the Lammasu Some sneaky gits - I've not painted any greenskins since Gorkamorka so this has been a bit of a learning experience! My first ever war machine - it kind of looks like it fires out baked beans instead of magma though.

  42. they aren't gone though? The 11 Cities are now allowed to match up subfaction rules/traits and formations however you want to. Love Greywater for the blackpowder focus but want to set your army in Excelsis? Well, now you have the ability to make your Excelsis force the gunnery school or rifle garrison or however you want to tie it together. I'm just a bit confused at this pushback in all honesty. It makes more sense logistically and lorewise--why WOULDN'T every COS have a detachment of gunnery forces or cavalry or magic?
