Korpur
Hello everyone! I've been doing some sculpting on the side for fun/selling and wanted to show you my recent work. These are based on the bull centaurs from Forge world. I really like both centauresque creatures and Nurgle so I had to mix them. The one eyed guy is the current project (still very much wip). I'll try to update this plog as soon as some progress is made. Hope you like it and feel free to drop suggestions/critique if you've any!

Unfortunately I don't have too much to show when it comes to miniatures. You can watch some stuff I did a few years back over at: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?398682-Esco-s-fantasy-projects-Dioramas-amp-other-stuff

Korpur
Thanks BangDoll! Time for an update. No centaurs though. I guess most of you have seen this fantastic piece of art by Adrian Smith before. Ever since I saw it I wanted him as a miniature. So thats what Im up to at the moment, sculpting myself a Korpus Festerheart. I'm really taking my time on this one and trying to push myself on every part of the model. I hope these kind of projects is okey to post here! Hope you like it. Take care!
Davariel
Disgusting (in the best possible sense of the word). You have clearly made a daemonic pact with Nurgle himself to acquire such sculpting skills
Korpur
Davariel - Haha thank you. Yes, my body and soul belongs to Papa Nurgle. At least for now A bit more work done. A bunch of different pieces that's waiting to be filed and worked on.
Korpur
How it looks with some of the pieces tacked on. Im not too sure about the belly. It feels a little bit too big. Its certainly bigger than in the illustration. What do you guys think?
Kramer
I think you are on the right track and an inspiration! There are so many pieces of art that could do with the same treatment. But regarding the belly.. I see why you are asking but looking at how the shoulder plate already bulks up the model I would not change the belly but rather lift the chest plate a bit. But to be honest you are the expert
Chris Tomlin
@Korpur - Serious skills brother! Whilst I consider myself a solid converter and a good painter, sculpting from scratch is something that eludes me. I'm always very impressed by works like this, it takes an awfully high level of skill, so kudos! Like you, I'm a big fan of that Adrian Smith artwork and can't wait to see you bring it to life! Keep up the great work. Very inspirational stuff.

But to be honest you are the expert Thanks, Kramer! Yes, the list of amazing WH-illustrations is endless. This sculpture is most likely the first of many more. And yea, I think you've a point there regarding the chest plate. I'll probably start by bulking it out a bit for more volume and sharper edges. Thanks! 6 hours ago, Chris Tomlin said: @Korpur - Serious skills brother! Whilst I consider myself a solid converter and a good painter, sculpting from scratch is something that eludes me. Keep up the great work. Very inspirational stuff. Thanks Chris, appreciate it! It was actually kinda intimidating in the beginning due to all the details in the artwork. But once I started working and took one step at a time it felt pretty safe. Now it's more or less therapy (except a few chaotic moments :D). Polymer clay like super sculpey is quite forgiving too, so it helps a bit, especially this time when I used it in the first steps. Update time! Slowly getting there. elfhead
Loving your work. The korpus artwork is such a great piece. I think it partly inspired the new 40k Nurgle plaguelord. I'm hoping to convert hun to something more AoS. But sculpting Korpus from scratch... just wow!

One of my all time favorites. Adrian's the best Yep that contagion lord looks like a mix of Typhus and Korpus to me. An awesome miniature indeed! I wanted way more mutations, boils and nastiness on this one. (the tongue and right hand is just tacked on for the photo)
Korpur
Back to Korpus. Redid his belly a bit, fixed his knee guards etc etc. The most difficult part is actually his helmet. I've done 6-7 already but still not good enough. Well, no quitting here! His lovely trophies
Kramer
Very cool. When you finish the def helmet. Could you show us one or two of the failed attempts? Would love to see the progression and see what choices led to the perfect helmet.
DynamicCalories
Sweet jesus. That's insane. What are you using as the material for the sculpting? Also is he 28mm scale or a bit bigger?

I'm using super sculpey medium, greenstuff, milliput and a bit of procreate sometimes. He's quite big, about 7cm tall or so. When I started this project I just made an armature without thinking about size, scale or if he would fit on the battlefield or not, but it's actually close to the illustration when I look at the size between him and his trophy heads. Beginners luck I guess.
Korpur
Here's some of the failed attempts, Kramer. The first one was too small and the second was just too ugly. Spoiler A lot of work has been done on Korpus since the last update. I wasn't too satisfied with the proportions of his chest and the arms so I chopped them off and also made the chestplate thicker. I think it looks far better now, what do you guys think? Now on to the feet, hands, back and the rest the small little details.
MyGeekyPersona
Amazing work! It's great to see the progression of a scratch build like this in such detail - very helpful for the more amateur modellers like myself. It's really informative to see how you use different sculpting media, and chain and beads on the mini. It's interesting how big the model has to be in order to fit with the scale of the illustration - something anyone who uses the GW art to inspire their modelling definitely should note (and I certainly have). Changing the chest plate and arms has improved the model for sure, and it was more than good before! Inspiring stuff! MGP

I've usually been pretty bad at sharing creative processes on the internets but this time I really wanted to keep it somewhat alive. Don't hesitate to ask if you got any questions! Yea, the scale thing was quite an interesting surprise to me and a happy accident. I was originally going to sculpt all the severed heads because I thought my sculpt was way too big. I've not done much work on Korpus as of late, but I've done some other Nurgle-related things. This one is a very fun commission Im working at the moment - a giant gardener. He's gonna get a big spade, a tank on his back and a lot of different accessories like hoses, chains and stuff. He does his job in the garden very effectively despite his enormous size and clumsiness.
