Hey guys, here's a link to my Hurricanum thread and some pics of my skinks, since people are asking about them!  :)

Nice one Mr T. :)  A perfect example of using a warscroll without spoiling the theme of your army.

Anyone have lots of spites and sprites left over from all those sylvaneth and wood elf kits still attached to the sprues? I reckon I have enough to make some "Sprinks" :D

And btw, Skinks are awesome. 100% serious when I say they contribute more to winning most games than anything else in my army. On top of that, they truly feel like skirmishers, which is something most Wood Elf players probably miss.

I just played 1250 points

Hurricanum

Waywatcher

Forstheart + annointed

10 executioners

20 GG

10 HE spearmen

1 hunting hound

VS
2 x 20 skinks

Stegadon

2x priest

carnosaur

3 x flier with bombs

10 x temple guard

He won the game (battle for the pass) by having more bodies on the middle objectives  (due to skinks) a few times. A turn 1 charge on the hurricanum by teleporting stegadon with d6 move after teleport and reroll charge (the hurricanum actually survived and with magic, shooting it was killed quickly.. but hurricanum crippled) AND a turn 3 teleport with one unit of skinks to take my back line objective in turn 4 .

Yeah they work as chameleon skinks for sure haha.

@Aezeal Sounds about right. When dealing with teleporting I always make sure to bubblewrap the Hurricanum with EG/skinks. I also fan out extra skinks just to force his teleport to land further away from my valuable units. The Lore of Life Battlemage is there to un-cripple the Hurricanum should it take some damage. Having the +1 bubble shrink is really bad.

The other trick that makes skinks amazing is the retreating in combat. I do this every time they are in combat. I straight up won a tournament game because they got charged on an objective, but I activated the skinks before he activated to destroy them. Retreated them far enough away to be safe, but still in range to hold the objective. They are really sneaky and annoying little units to deal with.

Hey @Tidings I had a look at those pics of your army and man they are AWESOME!!! And really nice autumn theme also...this is actually the first time I see that post and a while ago  I tarted myself on a veeeeery similar project to try and make the hurricanum out of a Wyldwood tree. Mine would look more like a Tree of Eternity from Warcraft 3 so a living tree (yeah it resembles a treeman....let's say mine is more of a man-tree than a treeman:P). It is still a WIP but i ll put some pics on now that I have the structure done.

keep up the good work !!!

@Black_Fortress_Immortal I prefer list 1, the phoenix adds a lot to the list. Not sure why you'd take the Phoenix Guard though, they seem to overlap with the EG of which you have plenty.

And I have never considered running the Wending Wand with Stalker before. Interesting concept.

The wand adds some unpredictability to where they can move, and the Phoenix Guard is to sit on an objective since they have a strong 4++ save.

Thoughts on this for 2.5k...?

Might be worth dropping a single waywatcher for a couple more EG?

- Wanderers Battleline
30 x Glade Guard (360)
30 x Glade Guard (360)
10 x Eternal Guard (80)
- Wanderers Battleline

Units
5 x Sisters of the Thorn (220)
5 x Wild Riders (140)
2 x Tempestors (220)

For the same points I'd just get 2x the number of EG.. helps with having a high number of bodies to take some objectives.

Soo … built my first ten Eternal Guard tonight (while the kids were still awake) and the Nomad Prince.  I'm a little afraid that my painting skill will not match the need of the minis, but we'll see that later. For now I do have one question: I struggeled a bit, with the part where the shoulders are glued together. There still is a tiny gap. Does anyone have the same Problem, and if yes: How do you cope with it? Liquid Green Stuff?

And as I am already posting: My first (and for a while only) Opponnent will probably starting Sylvaneth, which I like a lot, because it takes away the risk that I start buying them too as Allies for my Wanderers. (Plus: We both like the story of trees that hate elves, uhm aelves). We will start playing Skirmish, as we virtually start with zero. Does anyone have some advice, what's important to know / be aware of when fighting against Sylvaneth with Wanderers?

Shoot the branchwych! Her spell is completely broken in skirmish, do not let her get right up in the middle of your warband. Eliminate her with extreme prejudice.

Sooo....I was really kean yesterday on loading these exact pic up before priming the model....and then I completely forgot and I primed it anyway...D'HO!!!!!!!>:(

Abyway I hope you can get the idea I was trying to pull out from the model. The little wisps around him are there to replace and the planets making seem like it is actually throwing them when it casts magic.

Something I cannot wrap my head around is the positioning of the mage: I initially wanted to sit him on top of the tree to resemble more the actual Hurricanum model (the mage is ON the chariot), but the looking at @Tidings's model I realized that putting him in front of the tree would look good too. Any suggestion on Which one would look better?

sorry for the blurry shaky pics but I took them with my crappy phone.

What type of glue are you using? I would recommend using a good quality, very thin plastic glue like Plastruct Plastic Weld (not the gloopy GW stuff). This will weld the pieces together and leave very little gap. If there is still a small gap after drying, you can brush a little along the joint and it will seep into the gap (because its so thin) and close it up. Messing around with liquid stuff wastes a lot of time and isn't necessary unless the gap is large. GW stuff tends to fit together well enough that the Plastruct alone will do the job.

Thanks for the help! I quickly switched from GWs glue to Revells Contacta – which I still know from my childhood, hehe – and  imho it's quite thin. Most of the Guards look pretty okay, but the recess on the shoulder appears quite often. I didn't notice it, when buildin the models (kids around the table). I'll keep an eye on them next time. Until then I'll try to fix it with the glue, as you mentioned. Thanks again.

And another question immediatelly: Now that they are glued together, I noticed, that the inside of the Shields will be quite hard to paint, especially as the are sooo close to the spears. Has anyone achieved okay result, with glueing the shields first?

Hey guys, I have a tournament coming in march and I am trying to wrap my head around my list. I played Wanderers in the last one and wanted to give Mixed order a go (f course wanderers based); of course if the next FAQ will rule massively in favor of our allegiance with all the set-up staff and ability triggering I might think of going full wanderers though.

I thought I might mix in everything CC shooting and magic seen in my area no competitive lists are played and I ave to face different things from what you would expect, and I came up with these two lists here

Allegiance: Order

Leaders
Spellweaver (80)
- General
- Command Trait : Strategic Genius
- Heartwood Staff
- Artefact : Phoenix Stone
Waywatcher (100)
Waywatcher (100)
Battlemage (100)
- Specialisation : Jade
Celestial Hurricanum With Celestial Battlemage (380)

Units
10 x Glade Guard (120)
10 x Eternal Guard (80)
10 x Eternal Guard (80)
1 x Warhawk Riders (40)
3 x Kurnoth Hunters (220)

-Scythes
10 x Executioners (180)

Total: 1480 /1500
Allies: 0 / 400
Leaders: 5/6 Battlelines: 4 (3+) Behemoths: 1/4 Artillery: 0/4
Wounds: 90

OR

Allegiance: Order

Leaders
Loremaster (100)
Dragonlord (340)

- Shield & Dragon Blade
- Artefact : Talisman of Blinding Light
Nomad Prince (80)
- General
- Command Trait : Master of Defense
Spellweaver (80)
- Heartwood Staff
Waywatcher (100)

Units
10 x Executioners (180)
10 x Highborn Spearmen (80)
10 x Highborn Spearmen (80)
20 x Glade Guard (240)
5 x Waywatchers (80)
5 x Waywatchers (80)
1 x Warhawk Riders (40)

Total: 1480 / 1500
Allies: 0 / 400
Leaders: 5/6 Battlelines: 4 (3+) Behemoths: 1/4 Artillery: 0/4
Wounds: 98

I also put a lot of the attention in my army in conversions and color scheme so I want to play something in particular: a monster/behemoth, my warhawk raiders (as they proved themselves very useful in taking my opponent attention every time I played them and the gain a lot of time for me every time).

Any suggestion on those?

The idea for the first is to keep KH and Executioners protected as much as I can with magic and at the same time bring them forward to deal dmg (both mages also heal so I could bring back some model in case I need). Meanwhile EG protect the Hurricanum and it empowers the shooting I got (well, and the CC if he end up in range).

Second list I rely a bit more on a dragon (no, I don t have a Phoenix, don t ask for it xD) (and anyway on executioners too) while pinning down my opponent with the GG protected by EG and having everything empowered by the Nomad prince. I noticed, in previous games I had with the dragon, that he took away a loooot of attention so my GG should be safe while also dashing out a loooot of dmg thoug.

Interesting lists, are you concerned about your 20 GG immediately losing their bonus if one of them gets killed?
