Ademo
When the grots of the Raggedy Moon Clan descended from their foothill caves to raid a duardin caravan heading to Greywater Fastness, Zeller Bullfungo and his fellow greenskins were expecting to find precious gemstones and metals. Instead, when all the stunty guards were slaughtered or chased off and the canvases thrown off the carts, to their dismay, all they found were wooden barrels. Barrels upon barrels upon barrels. Most of the clan turned back in disappointment: there were no shiny trinkets here to trade with the other clans and no greenskin was interested in the disgusting brew of the more 'civilised' races. Zeller Bullfungo, the clan's shaman, however, had an idea - quite possibly his first and to this date his best... Whilst the other grots returned to their caves, Zeller returned to the caravan with a pack of squigs and some willing (or intimidated) herders. Together they dragged the barrels (most of them) and returned (most of them) back to the clan's stronghold. Upon returning, Zeller sealed himself in his shamanic chamber, feverishly setting to work; cracking open the kegs and manically throwing in all sorts of strange, colourful fungi. For days, strange chants and magical crackles (and booms) could be heard from outside the cave and just when a small mob of grots were ready to break in and batter Zeller's brains out, he emerged; wide eyed and cackling. What he had created would come to be known as 'moonbrew' and it would forever change the fortunes of the Raggedy Moon Clan. Now addicted to moonbrew, the grots of the Raggedy Moon Clan launched ever daring raids on both human and duardin caravans - throwing away the useless gems and arcane books, seeking only the discusting ales that Zeller could use as a base for his moonbrew. Within months, word of the moonbrew had spread across the hills and surrounding areas, attracting more and more grots to the cause, swelling the clan's numbers. News of the raids also drew the attention of a greedy tribes of ogors and even a roaming gargant. Having 'shanked' the clan's chief, whilst in a moonbrew enduced trance, the scheming Scruk Truffleclub assumed command. Along with Drabtoof - a particularly vicious squig, Scruk quickly cemented his rule and began making dodgy deals and agreements with the surrounding tribes, drawing them together in to an ever swelling band. Thus the Madcap Moonbrew Co. was formed. The terms of membership to the company were simple: Scruk and Zeller would step up production of moonbrew and in exchange, the client tribes would provide the muscle to enable bigger and bolder raids. The Madcap Moonbrew Co. has continued to grow as a loose coalition of moonclan grots, ogors and even an aleguzzler gargant who together, through their mutual love (or addiction) of moonbrew, launch raids upon the caravans and breweries of the free peoples of Ghyran. Zeller now has has aspirations to go 'international' - setting up moonbreweries throughout the mortal realms, adding new exotic flavours of fungi to his repertoire. So, in the words of the Madcap Moonbrew Co., 'We'z commin' fer yoo an' we'z takin' yer brew!' (Here's the main foce I have painted so far)
Ademo
Now I have a decent sized force painted and assembled, I've decided to move over from the painting section to expand my focus to painting, modelling and playing! I've been collecting the army for quite a while now - initially I started with ogors but was drawn back to my original love - moonclan grots. Despite the time I've spent getting the Madcap Moonbrew Co. together, I've actually played very few games of AOS due to family commitments (baby)! I had 1 game with pure ogors pre general's handbook and 1 game of border war at 1k with an equally clueless mate. These games taught me one thing - I really enjoy playing! My big aim for the rest of the year is to play on a more regular basis - perhaps even attend an event! I have put together two lists (1k and 2k) for matched play and I am hoping to try one of them out at a local clubnight this week - so should be able to report back. Bear in mind, these lists are pretty much things I like and own put in to a list. I have no real interest in tuning them in to uber competitive lists at this point, they are very much lists that hopefully enable me to rack up some experience and will be tweaked as I go. Having said that, I'm always up for tips and ideas and things that can be fiddled with (um phrashing). 1k: Grot Warboss - moonprodder and squig/talisman of protection (general) Grot Shaman Grot Shaman 40 Grots with spears 20 Grots with bows Mangler Squigs 10 Cave Squigs Grots Squig Herders 3 Grot Fanatics 2k: Grot Warboss - moonprodder and squig/talisman of protection (general) Grot Warboos on great Cave Squig - moon cutta/shield Grot Shaman Grot Shaman 40 Grots with spears 20 Grots with bows 20 Grots with bows Doom Diver Catapult Doom Diver Catapult Mangler Squigs Aleguzzler Gargant 10 Squig Hoppers 10 Squig Hoppers 10 Cave Squigs Grots Squig Herders 3 Grot Fanatics I also have an ogor contingent painted up which I am in the process of rebasing to match the grots! When they are done they can be switched in to add some muscle to the force or be a cool addition in narrative play. These are: Tyrant Butcher 6 ogors 6 ironguts 2 Mounfang
Soulsmith
Sounds good to me. Always fun to use what you want instead of a copy and paste comp list. Let me know if you ever venture to York [emoji6]Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Ademo
@Soulsmith despite living in Southampton, I do have relatives in Northallerton so it isn't a stretch to think I might take you up on that one day [emoji16]Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Ademo
So I've arranged to play a stormcast army for my first 2k outing! No idea what I'll be facing but assuming I should be prepared for them dropping out of the sky and bashing me! I have changed up my 2k list slightly, dropping a unit of archers and squig hoppers - mostly to allow me to field a 90% painted army but also to give me a nice unit of 6 ogors which I'm a big fan of! It also leaves me 40 points free to take an extra fanatic. . Grot Warboss - moonprodder and squig/talisman of protection (general) Grot Warboos on great Cave Squig - moon cutta/shield Grot Shaman Grot Shaman 40 Grots with spears 20 Grots with bows 6 ogors with double clubs Doom Diver Catapult Doom Diver Catapult Mangler Squigs Aleguzzler Gargant 10 Squig Hoppers 10 Cave Squigs Grots Squig Herders 3 Grot Fanatics 2 Grot Fanatics So any tips for taking on Sigmar's finest? Fully expecting a smashing but as my first real venture in to 2k matched play that's fine by me and should teach me alot!
Furious
Oh man I love it! Really good looking army, too - can we get some close ups on those divers? Do you know what Stormcast you'll be up against? Generally things like horde vs elites is to make sure you focus objectives rather than killing. Keep the Mangler away from shooting, and I'd say sacrifice your giant to shooting. If there is any, something's gotta to die to it. Doom dive his buffing characters, they can be ****** (especially if your opponent brings a Stardrake - then very little of what you have will be able to do anything to it, and may likely end up killing themselves instead with that explosive shield it has). Good luck! Report back!

Ademo
So, I took Scruk and his lads on their first proper outing at a club night. The guys at the Hampshire Hammerers were awesome and I played a really good guy named Alex and his stormcast. We played 2k take and hold. I used the army mentioned above and he used:3 x 5 liberators2 x 5 retributors5 protectors2 fulminatorsLord - C on dracothLord - C on footHeraldorCastellentRelictorTeclisI must give a shout out to Alex, for a newbie such as myself, his list did fry my brain in terms of all the buffs and interactions but he was very clear and happy to clarify and this went a long way in making it a good game. We deployed as below:I won't do a blow by blow but to sum up - I was wiped off the table at the end of T5 which sadly meant a loss. I was ahead on points as he'd abandoned his own objective but just wasnt able to hold out long enough! I definitely felt outmatched both in terms of players and list strength and synergy but I went in fully expecting this. I was on the receiving end of some atrocious luck on Alex's behalf with 6 after 6 after 6 in all phases - he was very apologetic and decent about it and I think as gamers you just have to take it in your stride and try not to take it personally! We're playing a dice game and these things will happen! Overall, the matchup definitely contrasted my key weakness and the stormcasts key strength - reliability. Both my monsters fluffed for sseveral turns but I got to see their potential which makes me look forward to getting them back out and seeing how they fare next time - sidenote: those blokes with long sticks are pretty good at killing monsters!!!Alex's heroes were very impressive with their ability to seemingly buff everything! Lots of 2+ and 3+ across the army for just about everything! This meant that my 0 rend or low attack units felt as effective as a wet paper bag!!!So some cool moments for my army:Killing Teclis with my doom divers in turn 2! Releasing the fanatics and taking the fulminators by surpriseMy squig herd dying in one turn but causing several mortal wounds! Here are a few extra shots from the game to wrap up: Also - great to play a fully painted army!So all in all - a fun drubbing but one that gave to a chance to look at my army on the table and start thinking ahead! I think it's always good to play several games before any big changes so will try to hit the table more with my current list and see what if anything I can do differently.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Furious
You have a really nice looking army. Don't feel bad about losing to the super buffing bros. They have some intense synergy. How did the mangler do? I've used one a few times but found it doesn't do much past the first round.
Ademo
Ah yeh certainly not down about losing! The mangler got really unlucky to be honest. It got the charge on the protectors and hit with a handful of the ball and chain attacks but every one was saved! Even with the rend! Never mind - at least I can see that it has rather beautiful potential [emoji4]Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
