With new releases this year I've found its quite easy to get some units to a -1 save from a Base of 2+/3+.
Example, fatemaster with a trait and mystic shield puts him with a +5 save modifier in combat, putting him effectively to a -1.
So, if somehow you find yourself up against an opponent with 4 rend or more, you still have a save as it's dice modifiers unlike in 8th edition where 2+ was the cap.
There's very little point to it, and 1s still fail. But, it is a thing, which you can do.
