Recommended Posts

HobbyHammer is pleased to present this one day AoS event down in the South East of England by the sandy beach of Margate on the 18th February 2017.

This will be more an event rather than a tournament, the games will be very mixed, ranging from Small 1000point games through Triumph and Treachery and Coalition of Death style multiplayer games and finally a straight up Pitched battle using General Handbook rules! 3 custom battle plans and 1 taken from the Generals handbook.

Over the course of the day and the 6 months leading up to the event, you can immerse yourself into the story of the Dark Crystals and the Realm Hoppers. You can use the 6 months leading up to grow your Warrior and Warband, gaining Skills and Treasure to use at the event. Whilst at the event, your General will also have opportunities to gain better skills, trade Crystal shards in the Black market for Weapon and Armour upgrades. Will you become the greatest Realm Hopper?

Of course, you do not need to take part in the campaign leading up to the event. You can put your name down and turn up and enjoy some fun AoS down by the sea! Either way we hope you will enjoy the pack and hope you can attend.

Fortress of Solitude It’s a treacherous life wandering across the mortal realms and nothing comes close to having a secure location you can call home. You will earn this objective if at the end of the battle you have more models inside the grounds of the Carcassonne Castle than your opponent.

Hit and Run  Swifthawk Reavers are known for their hit and run attacks, galloping in, peppering their foes with arrows and then getting out of there. They can provide great distraction pieces, even disrupt enemy advances by luring units in opposite directions. Bel Shiannar and his host will earn this objective if you manage to wipe out either the Ardboyz, Brutes or Gore Gruntas using the Reavers ranged attacks.

Duff Up da Big Thing Ironjawz Brutes love nothing more than a fight with Da Biggest thing in da battle and what better than smashin and krumpin da head of a puny dragon. Morbash and his warband will earn this objective if the Brutes manage to kill Bel Shiannar the Drakeseer on Dragon in combat.

Reggio The Reforged – The legend of Reggio is a story like no other, a hero until his last resting place on the streets of Mitzmanheim during the Realms at War. Sigmar sees him as the perfect candidate to be reforged and become a Stormcast so has sent Valdor Stormhammer on a quest to find him. The Stormcast will earn this objective if they manage to summon The Legend of Reggio and for him to still be alive by the end of the battle.

We Iz Da Best – While Ironjawz Brutes enjoy taking on the biggest thing on the battlefield, they do so in competition with other units of Brutes in their warband. “Da Killa” and his warband will earn this objective if the unit of Stormcast Fulminators are killed while in combat with two or more units of Brutes.

Dragonborn – The story of the Battle of Hardingway goes way back, a colossal Dragon rampaged through the Realm of Beasts slaying everything in its path. The statue erected by Marcus Mitzmanious is a centrepiece for the town of Mitzmanheim but there are rumours…someone with inordinate power can resurrect this great Dragon once again using the magical winds emanating from the Dragonfate Dias. This objective is earned at the end of the battle for the warband with the most models with the HERO keyword on or within 3” of the Dragonfate Dias. If both warbands have the same amount then it is awarded to the warband with the most models within 3”.

Favour to the Horned Rat – There’s a reason why Bersik the Wise has his nickname, the Arch-Warlock knows when he goes to battle, not to appease the great god of the Horned Rat. Count the number of mortal wounds Bersik the Wise causes with his Warpstorm and Warpfire Gauntlet, if at the end of the battle he has done exactly 13 (no more or less) then Variskikk and the Skaven Warband earn this objective.

Ready, Willing and Gable – The Knights of the Realm were proud to serve alongside Lord Gable in their quest for the grail. They loved nothing more than leading from the front on the battlefield, charging into whatever the biggest threat was to Lord Gable. Earn this objective if the Knights of the Realm (Crypt Horrors) wipe out the Stormfiends unit in combat.

The Silver Tower  - Some who tackle the Silver Tower seek a boon from the Gaunt Summoner, others wish to learn his true name, that they might destroy him. With the emergence of the Dark Crystals these Ruins are going to be key to unlocking the true potential of the dark crystals. To earn this objective at the end of the battle you must hold 2 out of 3 of the following ruins on the table; The Dragon Ruins, The Ruins of Tyriollion and The Ruins of Tecliosious. To hold a ruin you must have more models within 3” of it than your opponent.

Finders Keepers – The Troggoths carry the prize of Olrog with them to battle, this Aelf seems to be quite sort after wherever the Warband goes but the Troggoths don’t want to share their spoils with no one. The only way of winning the prize is from the Troggoth’s cold dead hands. Olrog Iron ‘ead and his warband will earn this objective, if at the end of the battle the Fellwater Troggoths are still alive.

Cooked to a Crisp – There’s nothing more dangerous on the battlefield than a flame wielding Magmadroth, whoever gets in the way of the Fyreslayers are normally left burnt and maimed at the hands of this legendary beast. The Feast of Nagash – The land that lays in Sorrowtown is tainted by the unexplained, poor souls that make the treacherous path through this town are normally not seen again and rumours that these lands fuel the Supreme Lord of Death Nagash continue to spread. Keep track of how many models from each army are slain due to the deadly terrain than covers Sorrowtown. The warband that has lost the most amount of models has fed Nagash’s power the most and has been rewarded by the Lord of Death. The warband with the most amount of models slain due to the deadly terrain earns this objective.

For King and Hauntry – The great king is driven by bloodlust, determined to honour his forefathers and what better way to spur on the members of his kingdom than to lead by example than by fighting the biggest threat to his kingdom the dreaded Mourngul. - Earn this objective if Pepé Le Bonne Affaire kills the Mourngul or Earn this objective if the Mourngul slays Pepé Le Bonne Affaire in combat.

Strike from the Sky – The Stormcast Prosecutors are the vanguard of the Stormcast using their manoeuvrability to outflank opponents and strike from the skies. Broash and the Stormhost will earn this objective if the unit of Prosecutors kills a unit from Mudagog’s warband with the HERO keyword.

Foot of Gork – There’s no better sight, according to Dubok, than Gork’s big green foot stomping down on the battlefield. Mudagog and his warband will earn this objective if the Weirdnob Shaman casts Foot of Gork and does a minimum of 6 mortal wounds.

Stronghold of Azyr – While the Temple of Azyrheim is used as a training ground for the Stormcast, the Ironjawz see this as a perfect place to set up a Stronghold in Azyr. At the end of the battle, the warband with the most amount of models within 3” of the Throne of Erig will claim the Temple as their own and earn this objective.

58945e12d7faf_TheGreatTorc-Ghyran.jpg.b0fdf27824aa4ec067305cdb0175cd92.jpg

Ground Force – There’s nothing more treacherous than the overgrowth and trees of the Sylvaneth Wyldwoods. Unfortunate souls who venture too close to these woodlands find themselves ripped apart by the roots, thorns and whatever else lives inside these areas. Keep track of the number of Mortal Wounds caused by the Awakening the Woods spell and the Sylvaneth Wyldwood Roused by Magic ability throughout the battle. Darkenoak Shadowbane and the Sylvaneth Warband will earn this objective if they have caused 15 or more Mortal Wounds throughout the battle.

Timbbberrrr…. - While Khorne normally adorns the motto skulls for the skull throne when it comes to fighting Sylvaneth they must settle on chopping down the trees into kindling. Valeroth and his Khorne warband will earn this objective if at the end of the battle the Treelord Ancient Grimleaf Shadowbane has been slain by a unit of Skull Reapers in combat.

The Lord of Torc – The Great Green Torc dominates the skies of Ghyran, proving a pivotal strategic overview of the whole realm as well as increasing an army’s prowess on the battlefield ten-fold. At the end of the battle the warband with the most amount of models on The Great Torc will earn this objective.

Right back to the realm of work after a 750 mile round trip this weekend. Just want to say a massive thanks to @HobbyHammer and @KyeBaker for running such an awesome and fun event!

Probably some of the best games of AoS I’ve played since the game came out and so many funny moments throughout the event. Really enjoyed all the missions despite getting completely tabled the first two games and every table looked absolutely stunning!

Massive thanks to all my opponents throughout the day, special mention to @JontyGoesGaming and my team-mate/mortal enemy @Moarhammer. Was great meeting up with you both on the Friday night too for some drunken and funny times before-hand.

Still cannot believe I picked up best army, I’m completely honored as there were some stunning armies on show at the event.

The day was fast and furious, think I passed out in the hotel bed at 9pm on the Saturday night, was just a shame I woke up the Sunday and realized it wasn’t a 2-Dayer!

Massive congrats to all the winners, and again thanks to Sean and Kye for putting on such an awesome event.

Hi Everyone! Hope everyone is having fun today back at work.... :(

Massive smile on my face Saturday eve, seeing all the stories being told on twitter. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did. If anyone who attended the event would like to write up an epilogue to their Realm Hopping story, please go over to.. would love to read the triumphs and defeats rom players! Link your story onto another event and carry on your narrative too if you want.

Special thanks to @KyeBaker for being an awesome NEO!

Also of course @Moarhammer who took the event! Not by winning all his games, but by collecting the most Dark Crystals! Would love to see what his story now has to offer and how his army will use them! @TalesOfSigmar for taking Coolest Army, it was immense! The book to accompany was stunning too, well deserved. (Check out his story over at the link above too!), @Aelford for bringing probably the most technically amazing army i have ever seen! @JontyGoesGaming for being the complete gentleman he is and taking best sport! @childoffang for being awesome, hilarious and taking 2nd. Alan Anderson for stepping in the day before, borrowing an army and getting the greatest of the awards, The Wooden Spoon!

Also a well done to the painting noms, @TalesOfSigmar, @Aelford, @Moarhammer, @Dan Comeau, @Silent joe and Matt Ransley!

And everyone else who attended and made it an awesome day! Below and attached is the final standings of the day! See you all at the next one!

"Valeroth pushed his palm into the sand and heaved himself up to his feed. His other arm had an intense pain in it; clearly broken in multiple places. He got to his feet gingerly, and stumbled. Regaining his balance, he slowly gazed around. There was no sound in the air, only the stench of blood; which even made him smile in this moment of regret.

Then he saw it; the broken and battered corpse of his faithful flesh hound, Molly. Tears of anger stung his cheeks as he, once again, vowed his revenge upon the one god he served, yet the one god that incessantly betrayed him.

His warband was in tatters; dead or fled, and he knew that carrying on was not an option. He fell to his knees, and felt consciousness fade.

But all was not done. The gauges in his armour started to burn white hot, and the breaks in his arm begin to tear. In a panic he grabbed the pouch at his waist as he remembered the crystals he had collected. As the burning continued, the breaks and tears began to repair themselves, and eventually the damage upon his armour was naught. His mind was filled with the inter-realm power of the crystals, and he let out a roar of victory. Rage-filled, and driven with a singular purpose of revenge, he disappeared from the Endless Dessert, and the Legend of Valeroth, the Realm Hopper, had begun..."

Naturally, I have nothing but praise for the event as it was so fantastically run. So much fun was had and all my opponents were brilliant. So massive thanks and kudos to @KyeBaker and @HobbyHammer
