JackOfBlades
Browsing lore, i came across Dravik Vayne. Way back in Storm of Chaos, he was driven by his master Slaanesh to try to kill Archaon, as Slaanesh does not want the mortal world to be destroyed. This taught me that GW's stance on Slaanesh wanting to preserve the mortal world has long been his character, not only in the End Times which he secretly tried to undermine by only sending his most incompetent minions. So now i wonder ever more if the other gods have received similar or contrasting characterisations? Do we know what Khorne, Nurgle and Tzeentch thoughts are about ending the mortal world? It occurs to me particularly because in the Malign Portents, all of them saw the barren world Nagash would create and consequently sent their minions to invade Shyish. So why did they support the End Times then? Is it because they knew it wasnt the end? I feel like i must have missed an explanation that people who have read more books would know. Neil Arthur Hotep
I think one answer you will get is that the Chaos gods have frequently been described as incoherent and self-destructive by virtue of being Chaos gods. So they might tend to take actions and pursue aims that don't totally make sense. Of course, that is kind of a cop out. I am sure people who actually read the End Times books will have a more interesting perspective on this.
Big Kim Woof-Woof
Slaanesh really is the best. How can you hate a god who wants to turn all of reality into his own personal Pleasure Island? A world-encompassing S&M club! Sorry. Just a random observation.
Indy Techwisp
The Chaos Gods need mortals to feed off, so them wanting to maintain the Realms makes sense in that regard. Also, considering that Chaos won the Endtimes (Skaven pulling most of the Weight there) and the result was an Age where Chaos ruled unopposed, I'd say Chaos supporting the Endtimes was because they knew that it wasn't really a complete wipeout, but rather a massive, planet shattering coup. Noserenda
Ending the world is a game to the chaos gods, non of them actually wants to win, because then the game ends. (Which i suspect is why they leave Sigmars realm essentially alone, so the mortals can respawn without the tedious gap between the end times and age of myth) Archaon on the other hand is pretty much in earnest!
