Gaz Taylor
Disclaimer - If you now have an earworm of Last Christmas or have failed Whamageddon (you shouldn't but depends on what rules you are playing), it's not my fault! I've tried one of these in the past but got distracted with work and real life. It's still distracting me but I figured if I don't do it now I'll still have models lying around and not played any games since AOS4 launched (but Blood Bowl counts right?). Last Christmas, I got the Flesh Eater Courts set for Christmas off my wife. I was quite excited about it as I loved the look of the new models and the further expansion of background of the faction. I did not enjoy my wife being grumpy due to the delays with shipping the set and then I got grumpy a month later when it became clear we were getting a new edition and that fancy book and cards were useless. Anyway, less of that and more of painting and stuff. The goal of this blog is to try and get a Flesh Eater Courts Spearhead assembled and painted before Christmas 2024. The Flesh Eater set released last year is most of the Spearhead with me only having to go out and purchase a Abhorrant Archregent to complete it. As I mentioned, I attempted one of these blogs before in March. The idea was to paint up my Kruleboyz before AOS4 appeared but I lost interest, partially due work (I started a new job), partially due to family, but a big chunk is down to caving in to my family wanting a puppy. Note - don't get a puppy. Also I was a bit too loose with my rules and goal, and I need a hard deadline to get things completed by. With this in mind, I need to complete the following by 25th December. 1 Abhorrant Archregent 1 Varghulf Courtier 3 Morbheg Knights 10 Cryptguard This gives me 57 days to complete this collection of models. I'll post updates as I carry on and hopefully I get this finished in time!
MitGas
No, no, always get a puppy! Yes, young dogs are needy but it‘s pure bliss (most of the time) and it only gets better. Good luck with your project. With the right tools FEC could be somewhat fast to paint to a decent standard. I figure an airbrush could remove a big chunk of work - if you don‘t have one, perhaps you could bribe a friend with beer? Also, I keep repeating myself but oil/enamel washes would expedite the process by a lot as well. Decent airbrushing plus oil wash would male all the skin areas look better than 90% of minis out there and you‘d need like 3 days.

Good idea but I don’t have a hobby room or desk! I have to work off a tray which is part of the reason I haven’t done a lot of painting as it needs to be kept in a high cupboard, away from little hands. 8 hours ago, MitGas said: No, no, always get a puppy! It’s a lot easier to do stuff now he just sleeps in the evening rather than demanding to be on my lap. I’ve spent a few hours doing the Varghulf and some Cryptguard. Models are a little fiddly for my big fingers but having hardly any mold lines is a plus. Hoping to get the other Cryptguard assembled later this week, and the Knights next week.

Yeah, I think I know exactly what you're going through regarding your dog - our dog is a bit over 2 now, she's a monster but obviously we love her like crazy. Our last dog was a lot easier retrospectively (and terribly missed). They're definitely family! You could in theory do with rattle cans and then just use contrast paints for a quick starting point I guess. Or do it by hand but I figure it's a lot more work. Definitely an awesome army tho, I'm sure you'll succeed!
