Neil Arthur Hotep
I think we are far enough along in the year that we can have a little fun looking back. I'm interested to hear what you guys' personal models of the year are. I think there are at least two ways to understand that phrase, so why not talk about both of them (and any others you can come up with)? On the one hand, your model of the year could be your favourite model that came out this year. For me, that was Lady Annika from the new Soulblight Gravelords range: This model really surpassed my expectations. It was not initally on my radar when it came out, but I picked it up on a whim later and the sculpt just has so much character! I love how she towers over even other tall models. She really exudes some kind of "boss character" energy that is hard to quantify. I also really like her weird Dracula hairstyle. I'm into seeing these kinds of allusions to vampires from other types of media after we mostly had to make do with bald guys with sleeveless armour for a while (sorry Mannfred stans). But I don't want to just ask "What is the best model that came out this year, for you?". I also want to ask "What is your personal favourite model you worked on this year?". Because conversions and the like are a big part of this hobby, too, and it would be a shame to disqualify them. Also, if you picked up and painted and old model for the first time this year, it's still new to you, isn't it? My personal favourite hobby project this year was this Khemrian Warsphinx: Partially because I never thought I would actually be able to get my hands on one, and partially because I feel like I really pulled all the stops for it. Not skipping any details on a model as large as this was exhausting, but now I feel pretty happy and accomplished any time I see it on the shelf. A close second for me is this Gorslav conversion: This one just kind of came together perfectly. I had not initally planned to even do a conversion like this, but when the Cursed City model became available for use separately, it just felt right to do. So what about you? What are some models that stood out for you guys this year? 10

Jaskier
My favourite models this year are Dexcessa and Synessa. The morning after their reveal (I'm in Australia, so new stuff typically gets shown off right around the time I go to bed) I groggily woke up to see them and thought "wow, that's like...the coolest conversion ever!" After checking the absolute mess that was my Warhammer socials that morning, I realized my mistake, and I've been smitten ever since. Favourite model to work on was my Ashen Phoenix AKA a corrupted Phoenix for my Dark Elves. I don't have any great photos (lighting in my room sucks) but I'm very happy with how it turned out. Subscriber SunStorm Posted December 7, 2021 Subscriber Share Posted December 7, 2021 Great idea! I know it's a controversial choice, but Kragnos is my favourite release this year. Amazing mini, fun to paint and his background was a great window into the Age of Myth Plus his shield has his own image on it! Other contenders would be the Killaboss on Corpse-rippa Vulcha and Lord-Commander Bastian Carthalos, but I've been too slow to get them painted up yet. For my own little project of the year, I'm most happy with my shaman for my Ironjawz, Zugrot Felspore. 5
Scurvydog
I have painted a bunch of big monsters, gargants, mawkrushas and all kinds of stuff this year, but I think my favorite was Bastian really. It is an efficient design, simple but also striking, it has just enough restraint to not become overly busy, with a lot of his personality implied by the pose and movement alone. The model is also nice to paint and an easy 300 points done on the table! 9
zilberfrid
Favourite model that came out, probably also Lady Annika. The long base just for the dress is awesomely extra. Favourite STL is the awesome funghus lady from Cobramode (the Veiled Lady). Favourite model I did was the lid of my Greenskin bits pot or the giant lady from the Blacklist box. Edited December 7, 2021 by zilberfrid added weird funghus lady
Boingrot Bouncer
If I go by models that I have painted or seen IRL and tat is new for this year I would go with the Killaboss on Great Gnashtoof (minus points are awarded for that I had to look up the spelling and still isn't sure I got it right...). It was so fun to paint and base and it really look like a big boss. However it is still not as good as Big Morathi which is till my favorite GW project I have done.
Neverchosen
I only just finished my Warcry terrain and it looks better than I expected. I also only just finally started my Ogors and I am not convinced I have done a good job technically, but I like the colour scheme I am developing. I think my vote has to go to the Blood Vulture on my Huskard. As for favourite model of the year, I think that there were so many good choices. But personally I think that the new Be'Lakor model might be my favourite warhammer model ever released. I will round it out with my top five runner ups: Bastian Carthalos, Gobsprakk, Man-Skewer Boltboys, Vanari Bladelords, and the Warsong Revenant. Overall despite delays and limited releases this has been a fantastic year for new sculpts when the amazing dragons that I have been talking about non-stop for months don't even crack the top five runner ups you know it was a really great year. That is also looking exclusively at AOS models, there have been some other great releases by Games Workshop this year.
Marcvs
Favourite model of the year, with a bit of cheating, are the two Ven Denst. As for the favourite paintjob of my own from this year (disclaimer: I am not a good painter), it's probably my Hurricanum of the University of Edassa: Edited December 7, 2021 by Marcvs 6

pnkdth
* Not my model. One of my favourite models from GW of all time.
Maogrim
I really like this Dark Elf Queen by Raging Heroes. To me it's a perfect blend of the Old World Morathi and her AOS incarnation. Just with more majesty and grace than both of them. I'm quite looking forward to painting mine.

Skreech Verminking
Currently my favorite model of the year, would be the converted clawlord on brood horror. after seeing the orruk on that lizard, I just had to desecrate it even, if the clawlord, can’t really be played at tournaments. 4
Gitzdee
This is my fav model this year. Maybe i can still get around to painting this one before the end of the month. I just like aelvish movement on this and the hope that wood elves/kurnothi might still happen some day hahaha. MarkK
Slaanesh was probably the winner this year for me, Dexcessa being the standout. My favourite model I completed this year for AoS was this converted Nurgle Sorcerer. Not a massive or impressive miniature, but I liked how it turned out! Wow I forgot the Slaanesh stuff was this year because of the split book with demons having been released prior... I feel that would reorder the list I made quite severely I guess toss on Sigvald and Slaangors and drop the Vanari Bladelords, and the Warsong Revenant. 😵

Maogrim
If we talk about which miniatures we prrsonally painted up this year... It has to be the Archmage! It was my first attempt at one of the big GW kits and I hope I did this amazing model justice, even with my limited skill level.
