Playing against LRL

I know we have a new book coming and that it could change "everything". But I see myself playing a lot against the LRL, even before the book comes, and I'm a little lost on how to play against them.

Mostly is the big units of Sentinels that can shoot you even without LoS doing Mortals on 6s (or 5+ if they cast the spell).

I wonder  about this to. The  sense i get form dominion is that stormcast are going more tough more elite  higher armour more ways to bring back models. But mortal wound spamm just laughs in the face of that.  I think LRL will always be a tough fight since they kind of counter elites pretty hard.

Againts santinels just bring Azyros with artifact lantern that force him to reroll 6. Against teclis 2 incators are amazing.

I don't think this Lantern works, as per new Core Rules on Triggered Effects, only one effect can apply and it is up to the person rolling the dice to decide which applies.

Because both rules apply to Unmodified dice, the 6 to do a Mortal overrules the need to reroll.

As they always have the 6 to hit = MW though, wouldn't a lantern being introduced be a more recent effect and overrule it? Also all rerolls occur before effects occur?

I don't think so, both apply to the unmodified roll, and both are triggered by the 6 to hit.

If the lantern was re-roll 6s to hit, then it would take precedence, I believe, same as the Witherstave for Nurgle.

The re-roll ruling is for modifiers. 6+ MW or 6+ rerolls is an effect.

I'm rereading the section and I have to agree with @Liquidsteel unfortunately. Both of these are triggered effects as per 1.6.4. There is no FAQ to correct it.

Probably the biggest key is to put a block of heavy hitters in the sky.  This can be units of Annihilators (maybe + gavriel?), or ballista's + ordinator, or a bunch of Evocators + gavriel.  But if they are off the board, they can't be shot off/magicked off.  However, whatever you put up there needs to come down and hit like a train, because one of the things stormcast generally lack is mobility, so you need to make sure that your opponent can't run away from you.

Beyond that, everything else boils down to what your opponent is bringing.  MSU units on the board are decent for making life hard for Sentinals, but die to Teclis just blowing things up.  MSU units also don't do so good when they run into blocks of Stoneguard or Blademasters, but they give you the flexibility to contest windriders.  Basically, this comes down to playing against whatever your opponents bring, and then rating the units by how useful they were - and in the next game, try to bring more useful units and drop the ones that did poorly.

Rerolls first then modifiers. No matter if they are on 6 or not.

Not in this case, because both effects are on unmodified dice. Both effects trigger off the same dice roll, the new core rules only allow one effect to trigger. The player rolling the dice chooses.

If the lantern was reroll 6s then it would apply first.

1.5.5

Dice Roll Modifiers

Rules that refer to an unmodified roll are referring to the dice roll after re-rolls have been made but before modifiers are applied.

I feel like the rule you are quoting to try and deny the re-roll is implied that if you had MW on 6 or +1 successful hit roll on 6, you would have to decide which one you would use. Not both.
