Starting with Stormkeep - Questions

Recommended Posts

Im keen to experiment with Stormkeeps. While building some lists i came across a couple of questions.

Can a Mortal Auxillaries hero become the General?

Ghb 2020 says “the General must be a hero and not an ally”

If the hero is a COS unit what happens to SCE artefacts etc?

In my example it seems that the only downside is the general cant use the command ability.

Any feedback about the army?

Its intended to be very resilient to battleshock.  It has four drops.

I envisage two moving castles:

Protectors

Libs 1

Raptors

Libs 2

One castle would also have the gyrocopters cogsmith and warden king.

Am i better to drop the warden king for further buffs from a Lord Castellant?

No, this was clarified in the designer's commentary of Morathi https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/q9Fg2qordsr7bbCP.pdf . Also, the warden king cannot take the Stormhost artefact (it must go to the first hero with the stormhost keyword, so the knight vexillor).

As for the rest, the loss of scions of the storm (for going stormkeep) it's a big hit on the effectiveness of hurricane raptors: with the 18" you will need to move them up in order to get in range (hence losing the extra shots) and they risk being killed before doing any meaningful damage. In general you will lack mobility, outside the one teleport for the vexillor, and you don't have the range to force your enemy to come to you: a stormkeep army really needs teleports and/or fast units to compensate for the loss of scions. Not sure about the cogsmith either, since he would only be useful for the gyrocopters (who will probably be too far in any case)
