Hannibal
Hi all, I´m about to start SCE and therefore I wonder wehther there are any "must have" models. Models that share rules you most often like to have in your forces.
zilberfrid
The easy to build Sequitors has a very good female Stormcast sculpt, and Gryph creatures of all ilk are cute! No idea about rules though.
Charleston
Celestant Prime is in my opinion a very underplayed model. He does serious damage and has an autocharge in his rules, so he can always hit where it hurts most. Ballistas are quite common, although I never did much with them Evocators do serious damage in the army. Sequitors are insane Battleline

If you are competitive it's 3 boxes of longstrike raptors. Everything else is kinda flavour of the month. If you are completely new starting out, I'll hunt for the vanguard start collecting and thunderstrike start collecting, paint them up and play with those first. I'm not even sure whether I should run SCE at all. Fact is: I'm a bit bored by my Nurgle collection and therefore Iike to start a new faction, but I'm not sure which faction. In my area SCE are underrepresented and that is something that pulls me towards SCE. I think they can also be played as an infantry force adding the bonus of an easy to transport army. Third, they offer some good shooting, which would give me a new playing experience. 4th, it's rather low model count. Conclusion: I lack a distinct plan and therefore I thought that it might be a good idea to paint some "must haves" while I'm consistently trying to figure out how SCE work at all. To me there seems to be a mass of rules hardly any noob will really understand.
Lucur
If you want to get shooty, there's vanguard raptors with longstrike crossbows (preferrably as anvils of the heldenhammer for shoot twice) or celestar ballista with Lord Ordinator (though you need min 3 ballistae for the LO to be points efficient and without the LO ballistae are swingy af). Note that both will be a considerable part of your army.

Must haves now may not stay must haves. I'd pick up the easy to build Sequitors and crossbow thingies to help you find a paint scheme, that's €24 for 7 models with one gryph hound and a few different styles of model and weapons. This may also be quite close to a Warcry warband. If you end up not liking them, just brush them grey to make scatter terrain statues. NorthernNurgling
I decided to start collecting SCE but I bought models based on what I liked the look of. So far I have Concussors, a Stardrake and Sequitors. There's bound to be a new tome out soon which will probably change the warscrolls and points costs so my advice would be to pick up stuff that inspires you first, and worry about army comp later
