Your AoS Wish List

Death. Skeletons. Wights. Rattletome. Thank you.

Those things are meant to be abnormally huge, though?

Stormcasts are supposed to be tall, for sure, but there has definitely been an upscale on newer models across the board. Everything in Silver Tower is the new AoS scale and it all looks fantastic, imo. I don't think older WFB e.g. Glade Guard look right in comparison.

I'd like to see the Death faction renamed to 'Creation', or similar, and have the Sylvaneth moved to there.

It would be awesome to have a faction all about life, death and rebirth, and it would also be able to then have its nemesis in Destruction, the same way that Order does for Chaos.

It would also freshen up the otherwise stale one-army death faction that's having to split itself into subdivisions to attempt diversity.

Each respective Life and Death realms can remain as they are, but they could have a mutual respect for each other and perhaps a sort of symbiosis.

I love this concept. I would be all over that in a heartbeat.

For the BattleMage on Griffon to be back in stock...

Seriosuly though. Well that was serious but..

for GW to do something like I'm trying to do but on a bigger and better scale. Online Narrative Gaming. Where you can gain Skills and Treasure, like you can in Silver Tower but for AoS warbands!

This is a really cool idea.  You could have it ruled in tandem by Nagash and Alariel.  Talk about an interesting power structure...

I personally wouldn't be a fan of that now, though if they had done it that way from the beginning I'm sure it could have been cool. It's hard now that the order fluff has been heavily built into their history and fluff, and into gameplay such as battalion rules and etc. I don't mind the idea of the circle of life and death, but I also enjoy them being on separate sides: i.e Swamp Thing

For me as a learning player I'd love to be able to buy some cards with the artefacts and spell rules on them, so I can easily assign them to heroes and not forget or have to look up what each one does. I'm not sure if that's what the Data cards are for 40K, but the packs look a good size. And there wouldn't have to be that many in a pack so hopefully they wouldn't cost that much...

Also, I liked the idea of the faction specific painting guides but I wish they had more models in there. For Sylvaneth for instance there were no painting guides for Drycha that I could see and she's not a super easy model. I understand the step by step videos on youtube would be too intensive to do every model, but in the books where its just pictures of each step I don't see why they couldn't do it.

A yearly update to the points. A feedback website for points, where you can say unit x is overpowered ability y is underpowered etc. I like the idea of starcraft 2 style balance patches.

A skirmish style game definitely. Has anyone tried the rules from the regiments of renown event that warhammer world ran?

More unique factions. Steampunk Duardin would be a good start. A faction based around a new zombie box would be good too.

I would like:

A heavily curated "State of the Game" site. This would be a place any player could go and see what is current in the system, from rules, to product range, to story.

It would have a section like "These are old, but still totally legit in all forms of play" where Warscrolls that have been printed are available along with notes for those that have been updated in other sources, explaining how it's ok to use the old ones and how to make sense of having the same thing in different places have different rules.  This would really help people with older collections feel still included and remove the burden from them to have to explain that their older things are really just fine, including the bases they are on.

Another section in it would show all the places that the rules for each faction and sub-faction can be found.  Sort of a "If you are into greenskins, here is everything they can have" list.  It would start with the top saying that it's totally fine to have orruks in a collection with a mortarch, two units of fyreslayers, and a hurricanum, then list the next level down which is their Destruction grouping, then go down to the level below that, and so on all the way down to something like just Ironjaws. This reinforces the idea that the game is about your model collection, but also is super fun when you theme your force. As another benefit, it would remove some of the looming confusion over just how fragmented the war scroll sources look like they are becoming.

A listing of all available battleplans, battalions, and "other" rules (scenery, times of war, etc.) would also be here, making it easy to complete your collection and to know if you are current.

This site would be the place where all current point values are listed, with change logs and quarterly updates.

Rules that appear only in WD (as with the Lord of Plagues for Silver Tower) would be made available here after 3 months.

It could even have a listing of upcoming conventions and tournaments, with a grid of common house rules being used at each event and maybe a link to the tournament's special rules. Events that opted to stick 100% to a standardized GW matched play format could get a benefit of some sort - post event photo features, prize support, whatever.  Anything to help standardize the rules for tournaments so that players can build lists an model their forces knowing that they will not be "wasting" their efforts on things that can only really get used at certain times.

I guess what all this has in common is a desire to keep people sharing a cohesive AoS experience with minimal disagreement over what is and is not the current ok-ness.

"A feedback website for points" - Agree. Shared a rough idea along similar lines last week here. Hoping to write up in-depth thoughts soon.

Norfolk in the UK, on the player map in the other thread there was one or two people within an hour's drive away... but I can't drive :P There is a Games Workshop maybe I should go play there.

Yea man, if you've got a GW locally that's your best bet in finding people to play with! Don't despair, I very much expect there are more players there than you know!

Have you actually tried to find players?

Norfolk is a big area, i'm from nowhere near but I know of a few gaming clubs in there including games stores in Yarmouth and Norwich.

Maybe your wish should be "I wish I would go and find the local players"

Try these:

Aftermath Gaming Club
Norwich Board Gamers
Norwich Last Stand | NLS Blog
http://articles.athenagames.co.uk
Games Workshop - Kings Lynn | Games Workshop Webstore
Warhammer - Norwich | Games Workshop Webstore
Games Workshop - Ipswich | Games Workshop Webstore
Games Workshop - Bury | Games Workshop Webstore

I had actually forgotten they have gaming tables in GW, I've been meaning to go for a while and ask how it all works (never actually gamed in there before). GW Kings Lynn is the one, Norwich is too far and the local wargaming group apparently has no AoS players. Like I said I can't drive so I'm limited in how far I can travel regularly.

To get back on topic, as I've been painting ogres and gathering my Skull Pass goblins, I'd like to see what they come up with for the Gutbusters and Moonclan factions (cheap plastic squigs please please).

I pretty much just want AoS and GW in general to continue on the current path of smart, steady improvement.  Gaming wise, everything released from Ironjawz onward has managed to get me excited for one reason or another.  So really I've never enjoyed the game and hobby more than now and want it to continue.  Only 6 days until next club day...:)

Same here. Reading your post, the thought occurred we have an amazing (and growing) "reality list" to contrast with our wish lists:

  • Free core rules, free rules for nearly every model, + General's Handbook (GH) @ only $25
  • Reasonably-priced-entry boxes, e.g. Start Collecting, Storm of Sigmar, Easy to Build
  • High-bang-for-buck boxed sets (AoS Starter, Silver Tower, Gorechosen)
  • A steady tide of new, remarkable miniatures and artwork (this deserves its own post...) + some excellent terrain
    • And Forge World ramping things up (Skaarac, Shar'tor the Executioner, new Fimir, Khorne Dragon, et al.)
    • And reimagining/revitalizing older-model ranges with compelling background + rules (with some exceptions, arguably, early on)
  • White Dwarf returning to its roots, relaunching as a 150+page monthly
    • New game rules, big battle reports, "A Tale of Four Warlords," etc.
  • General's Handbook reintroducing points through Matched Play
    • Along with a promising Narrative Play section ripe for expansion
  • Matched Play informed by community comps + Dan Heelan, Ben Curry, Wayne Kemp, and Russ Veal invited to help playtest @ GW HQ
  • New, expanded Battletomes with faction-specific traits, artefacts, lores, battalions + multiple campaign books with a ton of content
  • Prize contests, e.g., Army of Your Dreams
  • Excellent coverage of South Coast GT 2016 (a real turning point)
    • And awarding a prize to the fan-favorite army (Ben Curry's Chaos Dwarves)
    • And selling bundles online for the top-placing armies at SCGT (via @Nico – thanks!)
  • Launching and continuing to improve the AoS app
  • Kicking ass on social media, especially Facebook
    • Warhammer TV, AoS, 40K, Blood Bowl, Forge World, Black Library, White Dwarf, Warhammer World, The Regimental Standard
  • Ramping up specialist games again (Warhammer Quest, with Blood Bowl and more on the way)
  • Taking Warhammer TV to another level with daily, diverse content, including the promise of batreps
    • And Duncan continuing his amazing series of painting videos (with a shout out to Em on her work as well)
    • And their first-ever live-event streaming this Sep for The Warlords
  • Black Library releasing a flood of new content (novels, short stories, audio dramas, etc.)
    • As a personal note, I do hope we see a better balance going forward between character development and world building vs action and battles (personally the latter reminds me of the jump scare – overused and only effective in moderation).
  • New FAQs developed in response to the community's questions
  • Partnering on outside events, e.g., running the AoS tourney @ Las Vegas Open 2017 + getting involved @ AdeptiCon 2017
    • And putting up Duncan's incredible Archaon for the NOVA Open Charitable Foundation's upcoming charity raffle
  • Getting staff engaged with the community, e.g., Jervis Johnson on the Forge the Narrative podcast, Phil Kelly on 40K Radio, etc.
    • And Black Library authors like Gav Thorpe discussing the development of AoS' initial lore/stories
  • Bringing back the global campaign with Season of War + materials/support for FLGS
  • Organizing a ton of Warhammer World events (Open Day, Throne of Skulls, Campaign Weekends, Warlords, et al.)
    • And creating beautiful new dioramas
  • Restarting Golden Demon and (in 2017) The Grand Tournament

I'd like to see GW create a "rules" facebook group -- since they've clearly stated that their general AoS page is not a reliable rules source (but can pass questions along for future FAQ releases). It would be nice to have an official outlet such that they can then produce regular (say, bi-weekly) updates to the FAQs based on questions from players. Obviously they'd need to find a way to reduce the quantity of repeat questions -- even now we see lots of people asking things that are directly stated in the existing FAQ, or different people asking the same not-in-the-FAQ-yet question hours or days apart.

I have no experience with GW (or tabletop gaming in general) before AoS, and I've been really impressed with what I gather is a full-on 180 degree switch from their previous social media presence, but they're so close to this already and it seems (to me) like an obvious extension of what they're doing.

On a more pedestrian level - Allegiance packs for armies coming out in each White Dwarf - starting with Fyreslayers, Beastmen, Tzeentch, Slaanesh, Clan Verminus.

Annual point updates in an updated General's Handbook - plus new Battleplans.

Hi @Nico, by "allegiance packs," do you mean allegiance rules, a la faction-specific battle traits, command traits, artefacts, etc.? If so, supposedly we're getting a new book in the not-too-distant future with this content for (most of?) the factions.

Other bits would be: website fan kit; gaming aids - so optimised warscrolls, artefact cards, token/markers etc

Hey @RuneBrush, what did you have in mind re: website fan kit? And by "optimised warscrolls," were you talking about a warscroll template that fans could officially use for creating custom warscrolls, or? Thanks for the ideas!

Yes - I referred to them as Allegiance Packs as that's what they look like in the App under the My Battle section (Allegiance Ability). I hope that rumour is true.

On your impressive list, you omitted selling bundles for the podium armies at SCGT, which I thought was an awesome move.

A bit like you get for some big computer games companies, I had in my head a website fan kit that's basically a zip file containing loads of graphics & fonts that can be used if you run your own AoS website or blog, so things like avatars, borders, logos etc.  You can "nab" a lot of them off websites or extracting from PDFs but to release an official kit (with proper disclaimer) would make it feel like GW are connecting with the rank and file customers and inviting people to contribute.

For Warscrolls I was meaning more along the lines of a simplified version available for download like the ones you get off the current website.  Most people don't want to download and print off a full A4-coloured page for each unit and instead would prefer to compile as many as possible onto a single sheet.  Having 'quick' scrolls available (possibly even as a JPG) would mean people could easily create a crib-sheet style play-aid.

As happy as I would be for a custom warscroll tool (more than happy to retire the tool I've knocked out) I wouldn't put this on my wish-list per-sé as I don't think it would add much to the hobby as some of the other items listed here.
