Yeah boi! I'm going in on this starter set and this news gives me so much play options as well.

Is 18 the full foot troop roster do you think? Seems like a few things will be missing.

Well, I don't expect heroes on big steeds or chariots there....

Haha hydra’s and mounted black dragons right?
no but if I look at what infantry cities offers I count 20 units. Add to that alternative weapons & champions, that ain’t gonna fit in 18 options ;)

So the question should haven been what do you think they might drop?
I’m vaguely expecting flagellants not to be in there.
in the picture I can spot: black guard champion, irondrakes, crossbowmen, hand gunner, wild wood ranger and a regular guardsmen.

why no flagellants? they would make the most sense as some kind of whacky fundamentalistic crusade without return to reclaim that once order stronghold. also they are the most cheap i bet.

some elf ranger with bow / imperium bowmen

musketdude/crossbow

irondrake with flamer

dorf with axe

halberdiers/dark elf spear dudes

dark elf corsair as some kind of mixed unit

outrider

generic cavalry or lizard dudes

fancy elite sword dudes / elfs / longbeards

STEAMTANK (i hope not)

well we all know it will come the other way and we get all gyrocoptersetups, hydras, whatever...

Thanks a lot for posting this! Quick question though: What model is the the Guild Champion? Is it a Freeguild General? Also would you mind saying what weapon a Freeguild Sergeant is carrying?

Bummed out that there are no flagelants, would have really liked to make a Witch Hunter themed warband.

Guild Champion is the Greatsword sergeant. Sounds like the intended leader of Freeguild warbands.

Thanks!

Do we know if the warband abilities are specific to the unit types? (e.g. Freeguild abilities, Dwarf abilities, etc.)? Or are the abilities shared by all units?

Two generic abilities - better attacks when near an objective and 1 that lets 2 different fighters take a bonus attack

Two leader abilities - one that lets certain models increase their toughness and one that gives better attacks to nearby units after they’ve taken out an enemy.

Two more specific abilities that several models can use but not all.

1 of these is for shooting units, 1 for great swords, wardens and rangers.

Don't want to be breaking copyright so I think that’s all it’s safe to say.

So for a Living City equivalent:

- Wildwood Rangers as Wildwood Rangers (Shocking, I know!)

- Sisters of the Watch as Crossbowmen or Handgunners

- Eternal Guard as Freeguild Spearmen or Black Guard (Our shields! They do nothing!)

- converted Nomad Princess - Freeguild Sergeant or Black Guard Captain

Pity that we can't add Sorceress as a Mercenary.

Now that Freeguild are in Warcry, I'm now going to start playing it. I'm told by my friends that the regular warbands are not comparable to most of the faction warbands in terms of balance, but Hammerhal is looking to shape up nicely. Even then, I'm not looking to build the most OP combo list possible, so am just sticking to my Freeguild with limitations on lots of shooting.
