I've got 40 chainrasps in my Nighthaunt Army which could expand, and 20 Ungor Raiders (soon to be 30), 30 Bestigors, 10 gors and 10 Ungors (maybe going up to 30) and they're all already magnetised to go in my box. Maybe I should look in to these 🤔😂

Maybe he could have tried smaller magnets, but he found they weren't right for that army.
Sedge
Some models have an incredibly slender attachment to the base so correct magnets are advisable. I use N52 neodymium magnets 4x2. I find they are pretty good. mid you’d like to try before you buy I offer a free sample which includes a tray and 3 magnets. (postage cost only)

(postage cost only) Far as I know N52 is probably one of the most powerful grades you'll get for model sized magnets easily. N55 is apparently the most powerful now on the market, but is pretty limited in availability. You can probably get 3mm magnets under GW model bases, but after that not much more I don't think. So I'd wager N52 at 4mm should be strong enough for most plastic models
RuneBrush
@PlasticCraic I've found with my Nighthaunt models it's important to ensure the magnet is flush with the base and doesn't touch the movement tray. That little air gap really helps to ensure the model comes away cleanly. Out of curiosity which models has your friend struggled with? The worst one I've come across has been the Spirit Torment from the box set (although he doesn't need a tray).
