LoopyZebra
Hello! I am working through my painting backlog during the ongoing social isolation. I painted the iron chaos symbols in the Warcry terrain set with the color "Iron Warriors" and shaded with Agrax earthshade. I like the resulting color but I am having trouble highlighting it. I'd normally use Ironbreaker but it is too much of a difference with the dark iron color. Do you have any recommendations on how to highlight metal painted with Iron Warriors? Thank you! Redking
Either Stormhost Silver or Runefang Steel. You could also drybrush a Necron Compound.
hammer49
You could do the highlights like you did but shade after thereby toning it all down. Could dilute the shade so its not as strong over the hightlights but brings it closer to the other parts. Nuln oil would be good as well.
LoopyZebra
Thanks for the recommendations! I'm going to try shading over. Attached picture is what it currently looks like with the ironbreaker over the iron warriors + agrax earthshade.
willange
Honestly, that looks pretty good to me. Maybe a little too much for some, but I don't think it's terrible. Maybe highlight first then shade?
MitGas
Erm, mix the colors and only use a brighter metallic color for the outmost edges. Or drybrush the edges, on scenery it usually looks pretty nice. Highlighting dark metallics is easier than going for a bright chrome color, where you got similar issues to white.
