Predictions for The Not-Adepticon Studio Reveal

Recommended Posts

I understand that AoS is a better system but any set of rules can be over tuned to encourage sales and that was the problem with knights in my mind.

It wasn't that 40k as a rule set couldn't handle IK it was that the suits at the top wouldn't allow the designers to keep the game healthy because they wanted that money. Money they'll be hurting to recoup after major losses with the global pandemic. Big business long ago made a cynic out of me.

I still hope for the best though.

2022 at the earliest I'd say.

Im thinking next year. Should 9th edition drop this year, AoS has to be next. I cant imagine either game getting the summer slot 2 years in a row (either 2020/2021 40K or 2021/2022 AoS).

It would make sense to drop 3.0 next year. GW could start something like Psychic Awakening for AoS in fall and slowly gear up for the next big story arc (which would also allow for a new Stormcast release).

I could see it. With focus on Gordrakk it would also help evenly pace out the grand alliance antagonists:

2015-Chaos, Archaon and the Age of Chaos.

2018-Death, Nagash and the Time of Tribulations/Malign Portents.

2021-Destruction, Gordrakk and his crusade to fight "the hammer god"(Age of Savagery?)

I am inclined to agree that the release of Slaanesh will be a big deal. I am thinking that the reason we haven't seen Malerion yet, is that Slaanesh has been tempting him this whole time. I am hoping that his Aelves will become the mortal followers of Slaanesh.

Beyond that I think that there will be a narrative split with Order and Destruction fighting while Chaos and Death continue to duke it out. That way everyone is involved in a conflict and all players can be sold further supplements.

That would be a pretty huge shift. I mean it would be cool to have draconic style aelves following Slaanesh, but at the same time that's a massive shift in the story.

Seeing some past stuff I think they need to either flesh out most of the order and chaos factions that they have released, and/or expand the number of factions in death and destruction, because each of those have a high-ish model count compared to the 16-10 of most order armies, and slap some more out that were the size of the Ossiarch Bonereapers. on top of that get some of the resin to plastic, and generally update factions model ranges.

What I think is gonna happen is a teaser for the Sons, release of the Lumineth, and then maybe teasing some other games. I could definitely see Slaanesh as well as there have been a lot of rumor engines and little plot pieces that have pointed to something happening over there.

@Overread that is precisely why I hope that it happens.

That would be really risky though. A lot of people wouldn't appreciate that at all. Slaanesh being freed will definitely happen at some point, and they might also give him some aelf followers/units, but I doubt that Malerion will be part of that.

On the other hand, there weren't any of Malerion's forces or DoK's guarding Slaanesh when Archaon tried to free him, so who knows, there might be a big plot twist incoming : ). I think it's much more likely though, that the story will be on the lines of Archaon's recent actions bringing the Lumineth in, and then finally when Slaanesh get's free Malerion's faction will also be introduced.

I should clarify that  I do not expect my desire to see Malerion become an agent of Slaanesh will come true. However, my hope is to see Malerion become one of the most important figures within the Mortal Realms. I would want Malerion to be unwittingly following Slaanesh who would stay bound throughout this scenario. Malerion would see himself as a worthy replacement for Slaanesh and with the power of a Chaos God could bring about his version of order. He would unknowingly be playing right into the Chaos God's own hand. I also think the idea that Morathi has finally turned her back on Slaanesh only for the dark God to get its claws on her son could make for some compelling narrative potential for the Daughters of Khaine.

Again, it won't happen but it would create a cool faction that would be narratively grey as it would be aligned to Chaos but also tied directly to Order. Plus Sigmar's pantheon would constantly try and win him back as an ally. He could dramatically tell them that he is doing what he must to stop chaos by embracing it.

Despite not expecting this to actually happen, I still do think Slaanesh Mortals will be made and they will be Aelvish.

I hope Chaos won't receive new stuff before AoS3.0 and they revamp the concept of the Chaos armies... In the actual state of the game, Chaos is problematic and boring to play against him (because or the army is useless or is broken).

So, I hope we could see more things of Lumineth, the new campaign book and a preview of SoB. I think we won't receive anything more this year,  I think this is a 40k year.

I would be surprise if there more new Slaanesh stuff coming in the near future since they got both a new book with new models not even a year ago and some army before and after them, didn't get  much of anything and probably should be first in line for new stuff over them. Of course GW is not known for being fair and partial with their releases but rumors of new Slaanesh stuff seems weird at this point in time

I’m eager for the reveal more so that I can try and suss out sprue parts and layouts, being more a converter and painter than gamer, I’m eager to see how much versatility the luminary will show, particularly as if love some Hellenic looking aelves to go alongside my Aqshy themed human auxiliaries for my Tempest’s Eye army.

i don’t mind the routine of a battle one or two, a couple of hero’s, a named character and a monster or war machine, it gives a nice enough selection to work with,m. For me it’s all about can I get hacking and slashing on those kits as that’s what got me into the hobby back in 4th Ed 40K... (misty eyed nostalgia flashback ensues)

I'm mostly looking forward to see Sons of Behemath, but if I dare to dream I admit the idea of Chaos Dwarves returning would be sweet indeed - but I doubt it is something that will happen anytime soon, if ever.

Otherwise I'm content, but I really like the Specialist Games GW produces so I will be keeping an eye on those reveals too.

Anything Sons I'll take. Be it concept art, a base, the Battletome Cover, a glass of water trembling with Sons of Behemat underneath it. Anything to confirm their existence. If they are fully announced my mind will be blown.

The Battletome's existence has been leaked, hasn't it? Surely we'll get from all of this, if not tomorrow, a proper reveal?

The main reason I don't expect new Chaos Dwarves any time soon is that their forgeworld range survived the purge largely unscathed. As we've seen with lumineth, the advent of new high elves came after them scrapping most of the existing range. I'd expect that to happen i f the GW studio were to take over the Dawi Zharr. I'd be delighted to be proven wrong though.
