Cometstrike Sceptre and similar abilities

Omios

Question

Hi everyone,

The Cometstrike Sceptre ability of the Celestant Prime deals d3 mortal wounds to units within 6" of a point on the battlefield.

Do I roll seperate for each unit or 1 dice for all of them. It's important because you can change the d3 roll to 3 via Orrery of Celestial Fates .

And what about abilities like Thunderblast from the Knight-Heraldor etc? Also just 1 dice roll for all Units?

Thanks.

Roll for every unit.
the wording is ‘each unit within that point suffers d3 mortal wounds’.

By which you mean each takes 1 d3 roll correct? Whereas if it were the case that 1 d3 covered all units, it'd be "Every unit within that point suffers d3 mortal wounds"

Yeah a roll for every unit affected.

if it were the other way around, which I can’t think of examples off, the wording would be something like: roll d3 every unit in range suffers that amount of wounds.

but it’s a weird one. This is speculation on my part. But i think the goal is to balance it out by having the player roll for every unit. Otherwise its very all or nothing.
