swarmofseals
I've been toying with ideas for color schemes for the metal parts of the armor in my current project and am considering going for a mirror polished steel/chrome look using TMM paints and a more NMM approach to the highlighting and shading. Something vaguely akin to what you see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQ8LZ6gfoMc. The problem is that most if not all of the examples I've seen of this technique are assuming an earth-tone basing, so the shadows are often warm metallics. I'm going to be using ice/snow/rock basing, so the reflections will be in the same blue/grey range as the highlights would likely be. Anyone have any good ideas about how to approach the problem of color choice for the shadows?
RuneBrush
I think you'll need to do some experimentation. I've a feeling there aren't many examples of this could be that it's not easy to pull off as the cold colours are going to be in a similar hue to the silver you're painting. Colour wise, you're going to be looking at your dark grey and dark blue colours. You're certainly going to want to stick a colour in there as anything in the neutral grey range will be pretty lacklustre. Have you poked Google yet? Quite a few thoughts when you search "metal reflection snow"
