I’m having a love/hate relationship with the stormcast in Soul Wars. They’re great models without a doubt.

However because of their push for nature, even when I’ve cut the pins out the resulting gaps are nothing short of maddening. So far I’ve put together the incantor and the evocators. Each one has taken over an hour to put together and fill to a standard I’m happy with.

Heres some wip if the filling...

The main issue is that the join is on the tops of the pauldrons... but then you’ve also got to content with the robes.

Now I know that Soul Wars is there as a starter set, and to be honest it’s aimed at new gamers etc... but I’d have preferred something better for painters tbh. Guess I just went in for the good deal!

Super glad to see you are back!

Bit sad you lost enthusiasm for your Tzeentch force, though I can not say I blame you, as the same happened to me converting my Tzeentch force.

I have recently recovered my interest in the force (just as the long awaited Nighthaunt hit ?), so maybe yours will come back one day as well.

On the upside, Anvils are my second favorite Stormhost and favorite "official" color scheeme for Stormcast, so I am looking forward to seeing more of your take.

  • 6 months later...

Hi everyone.  I'm back (well, sort of).

Over the past 6 months or so I've been painting a few different things on and off.  I didn't end up completing a single Stormcast model from the boxed set, and actually ended up selling the majority of it.  Since then, I've converted and painted a Dark Mechanicum Kill Team, and started painting Blackstone Fortress for 40k.

As part of my 2019 hobby resolutions I've decided to take part in at least one of the Warhammer Community painting competitions every month.  I thought it would appeal to my 'shiny model syndrome' and allow me to paint something new every month.  I'm hoping to log my Age of Sigmar related progress here, starting with Gloomspite Gitz!

I've had the Fungoid Cave Shaman for nearly a year on sprue - it was a gift that I'd never found a good excuse to paint.  I've been working on him for about 8 hours so far, and I'm really happy with how he's coming along.  I'm hoping to get him completed in the next day or so.

Finished! Little disappointed with the final pictures though. Last one was done on my phone rather than the camera. I think I need more practise with the proper camera.EF3A1131-6F55-4547-B941-674AF3FB70C9.jpeg.5d8ef5b1b9c6423f194f61cdaaca3cb3.jpeg6FFE84ED-1163-4066-9FD6-00A43515CBBA.jpeg.0361c61e6e0a9f1bed3ba455f1ab0729.jpegE84153F3-517E-4D35-A258-3B0D626D5DE2.jpeg.a73b6489a14535df12e6b3229579d5d1.jpegCF8D2F86-883B-4C74-B561-06F7F95CCD21.jpeg.5900be47832904df9f4936a5ab355879.jpegB6F20464-D1C8-40C3-BCA4-A3B5FA17A5BB.jpeg.8f9e6e1c8fc73b2e8a7f6e12f1be527f.jpeg

Lovely paint job! Unless you changed the lighting the problem seems to be with the white balance. (In combination with your lighting which looks to fairly warm).

Just google white balance + your camera and you’ll find plenty tutorials to turn the white to white in camera and as a result the other pictures will be closer to the truth as well. Let me know if you need some help with that 👍

Cheers!  I'll give it a go this week and post the results.
