Aos 2 - Lumineth Realm-Lords Discussion

I don’t see how a unit in LRL can be described as “Tyrionic” and have Tyrion not be in this faction.  I just can’t see that.

Tyrionic can basically be replaced with "martial" I think. Dawnriders seem like they'd be very specifically standing-soldiers because cavalry require extensive training and  logistics support to keep operational, while the wardens and sentinels could be more of a militia-soldier, hence they're both but not fully either Tyrionic or Teclian.

All vanari are standing-soldier, they are both Teclian and Tyrionic. However you can argue they are not the truly elite soldiers, which may be  under direct command of Tyrion more often

I agree.

But do you think the Lumineth Battletome will mostly be about Teclis doing his special forces thing somewhere, and not about their basic storyline in Hysh? Hysh seems to be still a big mess, and reclaiming that would look like something Tyrion is in charge of. There are a few tidbits about that in the Core Book and also in the Slaanesh BT (one sentence about him fighting some Slaneesh cultists/demons with cavalry).

Wouldn't the Teclis storyline be more fitting for a book similar to the Wrath of the Chosen One, than a faction BT? I have only 6 of the BT so far, and most are about their realm and what happens there. The only one I can think of which doesn't have much to do with their realm is the Daughters of Khaine. Morathi is of course the other party in the Slaanesh BT who takes the threat seriously, but that BT is really old,  where GW didn't have a lot of things flashed out yet.

Having Tyrion trying to sort out Hysh while Teclis goes out to meddle in everyone else's business would be very typical of the Twins, and would be a fantastic way of having both of them included and active in the Lumineth story line.  That kind of renews my hopes for Tyrion still being on the horizon!

why would you not reveal a dragon last though?

Because I'm a selfish ****** who is losing hope haha.

It mostly because I haven't played Sigmar in ages as I've gotten quite bored of my Idoneth and so instead of jumping to another faction already I've been really keen to see where elves are going, and it's been about a year since then 😛 as such I've been hyping myself on dragons for so long that I'm just worried it's not going to be this faction which is going to leave me with the Stardrake as my only option (which is a gorgeous model, I just have no interest in stormcast).

They will not miss an opptunity to flesh out what happened and what is going on in the mysterious realm

To keep your spirits up a bit:

That chalice lady could actually be also associated with Tyrion. Because the chalice represents him along with the sun in the same way as the moon does Teclis (my assumption). You can see that the Sentinels have either a small moon amulet or a chalice amulet hanging from their belt. The chalice is also on the High Sentinel scabbard. Eltharion also has the chalice on his chest (with the phoenix rising on top of it). One of the Dawnriders has it on his breastplate.

It's kind of a long shot, her being all blue (just the Teclis color scheme!! : ) ), but maaaaaaybe.

Intruiging.  A chalice would also be appropriate for Tyrion as he was the epitome of an Elven Knight.  Good catch!

That's also an interesting observation about the current color scheme being linked to Teclis, as it involves mostly cool colors, colors usually associated with moon light.  I wonder, if Tyrion's faction does exist, if they have a warmer, more sun light focused color scheme for him?

Man, that was a lot of "ifs" in that pondering....

I sat on it for a few days, I think the reason i dislike the sentinel's helmets is due to the orginal depction be cooler (in my eyes)

but the difference might not seem so bad with different colours. I think i will wait for the actual models for further judgements...

@Turin Turambar See, that piece of artwork has what's missing as far as color schemes go.  The brighter color for the gem helps make the white and gold pop more.  In my opinion by trying to make the gems on the models more pearlescent the robbed them of a scource of color that would have changed the dynamic of the model.

Maybe I don’t have any taste, but I really like the archer helmets.

they're a nice touch of realism within a high fantasy aesthetic, I like all the unit helmets so far!

I just like how the helmet fits a Bronze Age aesthetic while in keeping with the Greco-Roman style of the troops and riders.

i love how they are mixing this style with eastern stuff too. It really is a mash up of armies from ‘enlightened philosophie’ countries like ancient China and Greece!

I'm really surprised that many people have issues with the look of the Lumineth (not meaning that they are wrong, as art is personal, just surprised).

I think they did an awesome job with bringing the High Elves to AoS. The core troops are all reminiscent of the old militia troops with a bit of an AoE twist. Even those archer helmets which seem to be controversial are like that. I still have old HE archer models which similar looking helmets The Lumineth ones are just a bit more fantastical  and look better in my view.

And the heroes are more genuine AoS. I like that blend. It also offers some surprises. Who would have thought the new HE have a Stonemage? Or a sphinx.

Speaking of the Stonemage, the model is great: The calm poise in connection with the over-the-topness of the "seat". The staff looks awesome.

Really well done composition of old HE  and new AoS elements. It's like Teclis was thinking, hmm now that I'm finally in charge, let's make some changes: First things first, let's get rid of the ****** robes for mages, I'm so sick of wearing robes. Ok, done. (looks  at his Lumineth). I guess, that's pretty much it, after all we always were almost perfect. Maybe add some plums here and there? (Looks around). Hmm, we might not really fit in with the local crowd. How about adding some runes, that not only looks nifty, but will also help with control.. bonding with locals. Ok, ok, looks good. Still, we are not quite there yet ...  . Hey, Stonemages, add some horns to your helmets .... and make them big! Perfect!

Totally agree with @Acid_Nine . It's a good mix, and HE also always had some elements of these before. It also harkens back to the HE.

The lore also seems to be more interesting. Can't wait to have the BT in my hands.

Don't know if everyone saw the announcement, but Adepticon has been cancelled.  This is especially sad news for the Lumineth, as this is going to change how they do the final reveal.

I had a feeling they were going with inspiration from the mashup of cultures that Alexander's Successor Kingdoms were, and it's nice to see some more Eastern influence too!

I’m 90% sure they are going to release something on the same day anyways, just to keep hype up. Nurgle May have won adepticon this year, but he cannot win against gamer’s need for more models!

Yeah I reckon they’ll do the usual event article on the day even without the event. They tend to have the articles pre-written so why not show them to keep schedule with releases and such.

If you didn't plan to attend the event, it might not make that much of a difference. For me it basically makes only the difference between refreshing the Warhammer Community website or Twitch every 5 seconds.

They can still show the release video and all the articles, either in the same way via a lowdown on Monday, or stream some kind of release event.

It could be that it actually will shine more of a light on the Lumineth, because during Adpeticon they apparently planned to reveal a whole lot of things (40k, TV related etc.), while I guess this will be more stretched out now.

I disagree, they don't look Bronze age style to me, bronze age helmets don't have the side panels.  they look more like classical/iron age  greek or old high elf  helmets mixed with the knights helmet in Albrecht Dürer´s painting "The Knight, death and the devil" (see picture below) mixed with chinese helmets (for the decoration) and also alittle eldar influence (the art work especially reminds me of eldar wraith constructs' heads)

I think they fit in well with the mix that is the Lumineth, just not sure I like them personally (like I said tho, I want to try reserve judgement for later)

atleast that how they feel to me, with the greek style cheak plates, the chinese style plume, and the large sloping side pannels.

I was more thinking of the examples on the bottom of this pdf, which has that little curly portion on top of it, which the archers look like they have. Plus, though a lot fancier, they seem to have cheek guards too. but, I may be confusing ages myself, and not know when those helmets came into popularity

Everybody's hoping for Tyrion or Swordmasters or a dragon and I'm just here with my fingers crossed for horse archers.

I passionately hate elves as a typical fantasy cliché, and I've been holding of on starting another army. My legions of nagash/nighthaunt army is nearly finished and I started a gloom spite and khorne army, but something about these elves really does it for me. Especially the archers, really hope they do an archer hero and another ranger unit smiler to the shadow blades.

All in all, another army I probably won't finish :) good job yet again GW
