meermouse
So I've tried my first conversion putting the body of an arachnorak on to a soul grinder. Problem is I'm having trouble fitting him on to his base. I can just about do it with a few limbs sticking out, but is that a problem? Might be an issue with being rear charged, would that be a problem in tournaments? Would TO's have an issue with it? Cheers.
Sleboda
Bases don't matter in AoS, so you should be fine.
Lucio
I'd look at getting a 160mm round base and putting him on that. Generally jncreasing a base size isn't an advantage but having an undersized one is
Sleboda
How does the undersized base help?
Bjarni St.
Can jam it into tighter spots, especially with the 3" rule but also in gaps in combat, and the opponent has less frontage to attack. That's assuming you're measuring base to base. Generally using a bigger base will be a-okay as long as you're not doing something ridiculous. Sleboda
Ah. Base to base. I was just going on the rules as opposed to modifications. Got it now.

Several tournaments, GW run ones included, have this as a rule being used, so it's really not that unheard of. It tends to also avoid arguements about weapon ranges more than model to model measuring.
Sleboda
Sure, but I'm still reveling in the awesome that is the game at its model-focused purest. I really like bases not mattering. So much more freeing. Different strokes for different orruks.
meermouse
Thanks for the responses guys. I've always played base to base personally, but what I'm getting is as long as the base size doesn't go down, it's all good
Chris Tomlin
@meermouse - I wanna see some more pics of that conversion! Looks super cool!! I think an Arachnarok will fit on a 130mm base, but if not definitely a 160mm. @Stevewren has a Weetabix Vortex Beast converted from one I think, his is on a round so may be able to advise. Stevewren
Yep, I have an Arachnorok and VB on 160's. They fit fine on those.

Bubbles!
I would just work with the Rule of Cool and get it on a larger base to give more modelling options and make it look tidier. But I don't think many AoS TOs would give you grief on this one, should be fine.
meermouse
Model is more or less finished now and in the gallery. Thanks for the input guys! Put it on the base pictured in the end
