I like your idea to upgrade the stonehorn to a frostlords.

Frostlords do better with more investment, so I'd move the splatter cleaver onto him.

I also think you need a screen in there somewhere, but am unsure what to drop.

Hey all,

Currently running a mixed Gutbusters / Beastclaw list at 2000 points with the Bloodgullet allegiance. I’ve had solid results overall but I’m looking for suggestions / critiques re: my heroes and their general load outs.

Heroes:

Slaughtermaster (general)

Splatter-cleaver / Nice drop o’ the red stuff

Fleshcrave Curse / Ribcracker

Butcher

Blood feast / greasy deluge

Huskard on Stonehorn

Blood vulture / black clatterhorn

Battleline:

12 Gluttons

6 Leadbelchers

8 Ironguts

Other:

4 Mournfangs

Endless Spells:

Balewind Vortex

Currently thinking about dropping a pair of leadbelchers and upping the huskard into a frostlord with the remaining points. Any tips re: spells, hero equipment and abilities would be great as well. Thanks!

If you want a quick fix, then drop 2 Mournfang and add in the Goremand battalion. You are already running the required units. Extra CP, Artefact, lower your drops from 7 to 4, and give the slaughtermaster a better chance of getting spinemarrow.

If you want to go further, drop the other 2 mournfang, swap the Huskard to a Frostlord(or another 12 gluttons), drop 4 leadbelchers and add in anouther 4 ironguts. This will lower your drops to 3(2 if you go for more gluttons over frostlord) as well.

Those iron guts bits are a pain to get too. Ended up buying some random ogre stuff just so I could get the random weapons in it.  Yeah need the bear trap so it wont be so much cutting to get them to work for what I need.

Mainly want to make a gutbusters based army with converted gnoblar to make for the models I am not too fond of. Looking back I realized they fall into the theme of the grot rebellion from a game called gorkamorka. Just more of a wood shop look rather than the old junk yard look.

Well if you need the bear trap let me know or any of the other bits for that matter. Where do you live?

So now we've had some time with Ogors being played, are people leaning towards pure gutbusters still, or is the addition of stonehorns still worth it?

I've been starting to think about Ogres for my Destruction Order force after realising how refreshing it was painting larger models and as wondering if you master munchers would have any advice for a new bull?

I'm finding it tricky trying to go for about 1k points especially with the price of some of the bigger big'uns.

You really cant go wrong with 3 bigguns.

Allegiance: Ogor Mawtribes
Mortal Realm: Shyish

Leaders
Frostlord on Stonehorn (400)
- General
- Trait: Frostfell Aura
- Artefact: Ethereal Amulet
- Mount Trait: Metalcruncher

Battleline
Stonehorn Beastriders (300)
Stonehorn Beastriders (300)

Total: 1000 / 1000
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 200
Wounds: 37

You do mortals wounds on the charge on 4+ with all 3 units. Your leader is a 3+ unrendable, 5+ after save, counts as 10 models, beat stick that does d6 mw's at start of each combat and your opponent cannot retreat from him.

I like having the double beastriders as missiles to spread out but you could replace one or both with 2 units of mournfang pack to spread to more objectives.

Thanks for the advice I like the look of it. I think I would add a mournfang pack over a stonehorn just for variety when painting. Thanks alot for the help.

How are the Thundertusks too. Still ok if I did end up going full herd?

Thundertusks are not worth it anymore with the nerf they got, IMO.  The only exception I see to this is maybe a Huskard on Thudertusk with the mount trait that requires enemies w/in 3" to fight last.  You can surround that guy with Ironguts or Leadbelchers, put them in a central position and force some bad choices.  But, personally, if you're going BCR, it's all about the aggression anyway, so Stonehorns and Mournfangs.....

Just came back from the UK Throne of Skulls and went 5-1 with my firebelly underguts. It was escalating with 3 1k ME then 3 full 2k pitched battles.  Went 2-1 in the meeting engagements, only losing out to Petrifex and 3-0 in the pitched battles.  Finished 2nd on tournament points but slipping out of the podium after favourite army and game votes.

Had a blast, Ogors feel like they are in such a great place at the moment being both competitive and fun. I'll do a writeup of the games when I get time/energy but thought I'd share some reflections while I remember.

-If you can keep your opponent distracted Ironguts are absolute machines. With everyone worrying about the shooting and Forst (fire) lord they wrecked face in each of the 2k games. Only unit that beat them in combat was 20 Heathguard Bezerkers (who were also tanking the forst-lord at the time) but that was maining due to the dwarves passing 20 out of 24 4+ shrug saves.

-Meeting Engagement is hard if your not bringing the monsters. With our only good shooting going in rearguard and no fancy movement tricks, I struggled to bring much damage to bear withing the 4 turns. I only went 2-1 thanks to advantageous pairings and some good priority rolls.

-Iron-blasters are a great jack-of-all trades units. For 120 points they can tank, screen, shoot and even beat up non-combat units. Tempted to include them outside underguts as they spend most of the weekend shooting scattershots anyway.

The only reason I would go thundertusk is the leader to stack -1 to hit. Since it has it naturally, you can giv eit gryph feather charm for another -1, and firebelly Billowing Ash spell gives an additional -1. Add that to Alvagr Ancient and enemies within 3" fight last if thundertusk hasnt charged it can be quite tanky. But at that point you are doing a lot to make it a less damaging stonehorn.

And if you replace both Stonehorn Beastriders in the above list with 2x4 Mournfang you can fit a unit of 2 Frost Sabres. They wont fight well, but they can run to far objectives and force your opponent to deal with them.

The thundertusks arent as efficient unfortunately, but still decent. If you want variety go with gluttons instead of mournfang.

Just a tip. If you use contrast paint on the ogres. I personally had poor results with pure  guilliman flesh because of excessive pooling in their folds, muscles and flat areas. I had better results with cadian flesh tone + highlighting with wraithbone and then using a wash of 50:50 reikland flesh:lahmian medium. All other parts on the ogors contrast worked great :).

This looks like exactly where I'm going with my list. Looks very strong.

First, I would drop the gluttons and turn the goremand Into a skaal. You are using the battalion just to lower drops and get the 2nd artifact anyway, so might as well do it cheaply. 3 gluttons won't do too much on their own, I think.

Now you have 160 points and lots of options. Add another wizard to take advantage of your suballegience, some gnoblars for a better screen, or some yetis for flankers that will do better than your 3 gluttons. You could also drop some dogs or the leadbelchers for a balewind vortex or some more ironguts.

They don't, the intention is to run both FLoSH together, the splattercleaver healing both so they are a very tanky and destructive spearhead.

Somehow the list reminds me of that which doom from the doom and darkness used.

still it looks very interesting, and you’ll definitely be dominating the movement and charge phase

I reckon the use is the double Couldron grab for more chances of +1 to hit on the Ironguts. Well worth the value I think.

@Arcce Your list looks good to me. The only criticism I would have. Is that if you don't table the opponent fast you're going to lose to objective in a lot scenarios.
Your gameplan of keeping the Frostlords together will smash everything in their path, but leaves them unable to compete more than one. That leaves you with the Ironguts for a second objective. So the Frostlords will be forced apart, not a bad thing but it goes against your gameplan.

If that will really lose you a lot of games I don't know. You can smash a lot in that list ;)

Hey you wise Masters of Destruction. More lists incoming. I have a tournament next saturday at have singled it down to the following two lists. Pros and cons on both of course. It's my first tournament and I'm not super competetive to be honest. But I want a well functioning list anyways.

1. Only Ogors. Gnoblars screen, Ironguts/Gluttons pile in 6" and wreck face. Slaughtermaster buffs and Butcher snipes heroes/wizards with curse and voracious maw.

2. Butcher snipes heroes/wizards with curse and maw. Slaughtermaster buffs. Ironguts kill stuff. Frostlords move up and get objectives, solo or together.

What do you guys think?
