Warcry wishlisting!

CDM

Recommended Posts

So I've been super excited for this release and it looks like it's ticking all boxes for me.  Hoping to see some add on for leveling up but this is as close to what I'd want from a skirmish game as possible.

Anyhow the warbands have been a slam dunk, I have been wanting to see realm specific warbands for a while and they do it and filling out the myriad worshippers of chaos all on one go! Very well done GW.

Personally I was fine with it being all chaos but the addition of other alliances immediately gets other players involved so that's great.

I'm actually fine with not seeing any more established factions although skaven and beastmen spring to mind for chaos. Scourge privateers for order and ogors for destruction would fit well too.

So on to a wish list.

-more chaos beasties

-keep up the scenery packs

-expanded campaign including boss fights, levelling up Tec

- "season 2" to feature realm specific order warbands. Really to flesh out the ordinary settlers and citizens even further. Would fit in well with the new cities of sigmar battletome

My list:

- Also more chaos beasties (oh, the possibilities)

- more campaign progression (bigger injury-table with modification of move, strength and so on, possibility to earn extra-skills... all in all: more extra special rules in the campaign)

- cards for more existing factions, especially blades of khorne, maggotkin and disciples of tzeentch. Slaanesh has not enough mortal followers in his list I feel, so I would like to see a whole new warband for him.

I'm looking forward to a "Gods" supplement, whereby your warband pledges themselves either to a specific Chaos god *or* follows the Chaos Undivided route

The former get to elevate their leader to the status of the iconic warrior of that faction, the latter follow the Chaos Lord / Knight approach.

I'd also like the rules to be used for a supplement set in Excelsior, in the aftermath of the City of Secrets novel. The ruined slum areas home to various gangs, the militia squads trying to keep order, the skaven burrowing up to infiltrate the city,  and the remnants of the Chaos cults trying to reestablish themselves.

Use the Mercanaries idea to add specific free lancers as Forge World resin pieces, Necromunda has given us some amazing models that way, and we could get some really unique hero concepts.

Speaking of Forge World, now's the ideal time for them to cement their identity as the "expansion" parts company for Games Workshop. They should produce head, arm and body varients, with instructions for experienced modellers on where to cut a model to expand it.

Yeah i agree with slaanesh needing a dedicated warband for this game. They were really lacking the mortal aspect in their recent release

I'd like a release of the  playable non-chaos (and unrepresented chaos) factions, staggered out over a period of time so more and more people get into playing the game, while I'm also bought a bit of time to figure out how to properly run a campaign for it!

A very small and petty one for me, but I'm a little disappointed that Legion of Nagash warbands can't bring zombies. And that primarily because I have a spare ten kicking around after using half a box to make Brainleaf Zombies for Necromunda; I figured between that and a Necromancer (which is a cool model I've always wanted to paint, and which I want for Warhammer Quest) I'd have a decent start :)

Counts as skeletons in the meantime maybe? The non-chaos factions have a distinct hobby + modelling advantage, I think. Much easier to say X is Y when X is just 'skeleton with sword' or 'grot with spear'.

I hope they expand upon the current 8 Chaos warbands. Instead of doing their usual one-and-done approach. Because it's very likely that the AoS factions got more units on the way, leaving the Chaos warbands become underwhelm as time goes.

Ironjawz are included but the coolest and underused model, the Megaboss on foot is not.

I can accept he is not any good in a normal 2k list, but the warcry format is perfect for him. That would have been his time to shine, finally. It's such a nice sculpt and I would love to bring him and 2-5 brutes to the Allpoints.

I want more Warbands and roaming beasts!

I'd love it if they follow the "Underworlds" structure and release all new warbands every year. They work on new sculpts for existing AoS factions instead of (or along with) letting us play with models we already have. I mean Chaos Marauders, Bloodreavers and Cairic Acolytes are no brainers for this setting.

I also liked the addition of Leaders and Elites to Killteam and would like to see that ported over eventually.

I'm hoping the ways the warbands see the chaos powers as being different from the 4 named gods is given reality in the fiction.  That prayers to the Devourer of Existence work.  It doesn't really matter whether a specific chaos god is wearing that mask or if they are just really powerful undivided greater daemons.  I'd like to see a bit of a move away from the very orderly breakdown of chaos that currently exists.  A proliferation of minor powers and worshipped daemons rather than just the rigid lines between the four powers and their great game.

Adding another vote for an expansion down the line that introduces more of a role for shooting and magic, along with a more detailed table for injuries, and skills that really let you specialise fighters (and get occasional lucky level-up rolls leading to unusual character builds like in Blood Bowl)

I just really like the idea of some ****** specialist deadeye sniper racking up loads of kills over a campaign, and then one day getting grappling hooked off a high ledge and everyone else rejoicing that he lost an eye and no longer has any depth perception

That said I am sympathetic to the idea that all that '90s d66 table stuff does result in campaigns running out of steam, and maybe it works better as some optional hardcore rules, or in the hopefully inevitable Cyanide video game adaptation in five years

(I don't actually remember if the Blood Bowl league I ran as a kid ever actually finished, but I remember one of my catchers rolling two double 6 level ups in a row, and no-one believing me or the guy I beat that it really happened. I guess you'll get a bit of that with the new campaign-with-whoever-you-want mechanic)

I think the game mechanics would lend themselves nicely to other locations than the chaos wastes as well, maybe even - oh, I don't know - a city of the damned of some kind. The possibilities for different boards and buildings are nigh endless.

I'm a big fan of the new sculpts for the warbands so more in the same vein would be nice to have.

Expanding on the existing factions playable rosters down the line, I have a bunch of stormcast but only raptors to start Warcry with.

Chaos Dwarf warband.

I hope they AoSify them though.  A race of Duardin who worship Chaos as the Consumer of All. Fond of burning things, tend towards making their bodies as heat proof as possible to better demonstrate their devotion.

Half fire elemental - Half duardian daemons, Bull Centaurs become brass constructs, etc.

I'd love to see Nurgle Rotbringers get a set of cards. Blightkings, Lord of Plagues and Lord of Blights would make for an excellent Warband. I see them being slow, extremely tough but not hitting terribly hard without being able to use abilities.

Expansions wise, I think we could see an expansion focused on mounted units. one focused on adding magic, one expanding the terrain rules with hazards.

Excited for the possibilities of expansions, but I wonder how they would handle making the cards for new models added to existing factions like Stormcast and Ironjaws available...

Some early work in progress for some homebrew Advanced Rules. Need to actually play a few games straight out the box first before I will using any of these but thought you may be interested.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ADVANCED RULES

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INJURIES

If a model is killed after the game you may roll on the Expanded Injury Table instead of the table in the Warcry rulebook. Any stat decrease may only be lowed to a minimum of 1. A model with a temporary stat decrease may choose to sit out the next game to recover or may take part in the next game with the decrease to the stat.

Expanded Injury Table D66 (roll twice for leader and choose result)
11-15     DEAD            Slain.
16    MUTATION        Rolls on Mutations Table
21     MULTIPLE INJURIES    Roll D6 times on this table. (Ignore Dead/Multiple Injuries)
22     LEG WOUND        Perm. -1 Speed
23     ARM WOUND        Roll D6. 1= Perm. -1 Strength 2+= Temp. -1 Strength for next game.
24     MADNESS            Miss Next Game
25     SMASHED LEG        Roll D6. 1= Perm. -1 Speed 2+= Temp. -1 Speed for next game
26     CHEST WOUND        Perm. -1 Toughness
31    BLINDED IN ONE EYE    Perm. -1 Range. If rolled twice Slain.
32    OLD BATTLE WOUND    Roll D6 before every game. On a 1 misses game.
33    WEAKENED CONDITION    Roll D6. 1= Perm. -1 Damage 2+= Temp. -1 Damage for next game
34     HAND INJURY        Perm. -1 Attack on one weapons
35     DEEP WOUND        Misses next D3 games
36     FLESH WOUND        Temp. -D6 wound in Next Game
41-46    LOST FAVOUR        -1 Destiny Level
51-65     FULL RECOVERY        Full Recovery
66     BLESSED BY THE GODS    Full Recovery and +1 Destiny Level

----------------------------------------------------------------------

1XP - If Won Game (Leader Only)

Advances Table 2D6

I liked your Injury table and I have a suggestion for Advances table:

1) +1 Range OR Speed
2) +1 Attack OR Damage
3) +1 Toughness OR +5 wounds
4) +1 Strenght OR Removing an Injury
5) +1 to Abilities Value
6) Makes a fighter able to activate Doubles ability that he normaly allowed to use for free once per game.

When you roll the same result you gain a Mutation, when you roll it for the third time Gods are not pleased and you have to sacrifice a Destiny Level or lose the Advance you gained when you first rolled this result. From then if you roll it again you re-roll it.

Wishlisting, hunh? Well...we have most chaosgods covered with the warbands - but no Skaven on the horizon. I'd like to see a warband mainly made up of stormvermin. I think they are good lookin models an would fit the narrative. The Horned Rat has claimed it's rightful spot in the pantheon of chaosgods and doesn't like to see some wannabe demigod gathering strength. Time for some sabotage...thinking of that...why not release a new clan Eshin warband box, just for that?
