While I do not share the conclusion I thank you for the detailed and justified explanation. It shows that you have already invested a decent time into looking at these models :)  If you wish to spend more, and to give a try at building one of them, then I would just say that the joints for gluing these legs you don't like are actually flexible for allowing you to adjust their pose. You do not have to glue them in a pose where they look like landing: you can just glue the legs more like sliding to the rear. And same for the heads: you can orient them the way you want (e.g. if you want to make them look like a Velociraptor trying to capt sounds :D)

For the wings I agree with you: the conversion from Rob Hawkins is great, especially with the mausoleum pieces he produces ! 👍

I had no idea, I imagined they were monopose, since that's the way GW seems to be going towards these days. Thanks for the information!

I don't like their hulkiness or their blades, their dinosaur legs, their faces, but all of that doesn't kill the miniature. These are just uninspired, WoW-like designs. What kills them are the poses, the proportion, the lack of balance and the fact that they were made to ridiculously hover with such disproportionally small wings.

First of all, I completely agree with you (wings, and the landing form the morghasts have in the pictures). I studied art too and still working on the same discipline.

But I find it funy that they have  "uninspired and wow-like design" because for me, they are the best designs that GA: Death have.
I must say that I don't have to much problems with the oversized proportions of Sam(wise) Diddier or the Stormboys concepts btw.

Let me clarify: moving away from "just skeletons, big or small" was a change, and maybe a good one. They toyed with it with the Necrosphinxes and other constructs for the Tomb Kings, but I've seen the "bone-construct" trope before, and I just don't find the morghasts all that impressive. The concept may have been a winner (the Mortarch's mounts, for instance, look great, gracile but strong, with their thin, sharp bone and filled with spectral skulls, very good idea) but in this case, the execution was uninspired.

Regardless, I'm noticing that the guys from the Bone Tithe trailer seem to be not only vaguely Asian, but also... alive? They do look like they have skin and muscle, and the mortarch clearly has a face under the mask. I don't think they'll be living people (it'd be too nuanced for main GW line; you can see living Shyishian in a novel or as Chaos worshippers in Warcry, but having Shyishian humans worshopping Nagash but not being necessarily sadists or bad guys is too complex a concept for the frontline, I think. I'd like to be wrong), but maybe we'll essentially get an army of Cathay terracotta soldiers. Who knows?

To be fair, Tomb Kings always had constructs. Ushabti and Scorpions both were there since forever and the bone giant while looking like a big skeleton is just a construct made to look like a big skeleton as well (it's not actually an undead giant). GW simply extended that aspect with their 8th edition codex.

They seem to be making a lot more spin off boxed games recently. Aeronautica imperialis isn't a million miles away from dreadfleet as an idea. I'd say the odds aren't bad on dreadfleet being re-invented as a new boxed game.

god I would love a nice tidy little fantasy naval (with air support) game, funnily enough I kickstarted one last year that looked really interesting with some quite innovative looking mechanics but they pulled the (almost certain to be successful) campaign after a couple of weeks and nothing has been heard of them since (cue conspiracy theories!)...

so many factions (already existing in the main game or referenced in lore/novels) that would come into their own in that.

seems pretty locked on to me that Aeronautica Imperialis will be followed next year by a tanks and troops expansion with unifying rules pulling Adeptus Titanicus, Aeronautica & that together for a full EPIC game (and hey whilst we're just making stuff up they could throw in a rebooted SpaceFleet/Battlefleet Gothic and then you can really go to town with full system wide conflicts).

obviously would be easy to replicate that across to AoS for a fantasy variation with Godbeasts, ships & airships and little troops and war machines, though I imagine we'd be waiting a while, 2021 at least probably. honestly though I think something more contained like a Man'o'War would be better, no need to exactly replicate what they do in 40K in AoS and vice versa.

of course what I'd really, really, really, really, really love is AoS:Mighty Empires rather than AoS:EPIC, my god I'd love that, the 1st edition of that is/was one of my most played GW games 'back in the day', never got to use it as the basis for an actual WHFB campaign but even on its own it was so much fun (caveat I was probably about 12/13 so my idea of fun might not be exactly the same as it is today).

I'd rather have something like this. It has the weird (multiple arms, mysterous shape covered by robes, a halo) and the recognisable (the materials are still understandable, the cloth, the bone, etc). The hat looks cool as well, and the mini is balanced in a simple way. The halo may be a tad too much, but I like the idea.

Oof, what model is this? Where is this from? It's an amazing mish-mash.

Looks like a kitbash. The scythe is from the Empire Battlewizards kit, there's a glaivewraith stalker in there, head presumably from some old TK model etc.

In other news, this was posted on the AoS Facebook page today:

It just occurred to me that some of this new stuff captures a Darksiders vibe, especially the horse - and that's awesome. Stormcast already feel about 90% taken from the angels in that game. The more GW takes from that aesthetic, the better.

I think a re-make of Man'o'War is the most likely candidate for a AoS themed specialist game.

MoW2 would be easier for GW to produce as a Warmaster-like game would need a whole host of units to accurately present a faction while a naval game can get away with having 2-3 ships with a few weapon options (they can also group similar factions together at the start).

This would also allow GW to try out something new. Kharadron Skyvessels bigger than the Frigats and Ironclads we see in AoS, Nighthaunt ghost fleets, Nurgle plague fleets, etc…

Wait is the time on the GW site the time it "starts" or the time the website displays the results of it?

When the Seminar starts, I think (based on previous times when i've gone to see it at the time the website said and I had to wait an hour).

Yeah I've a recollection that that has happened before to me too - which would put it at 2am.

Then again I think last time they did something like the Nova it was a rolling update - so each time a brand block finished it appeared. So if Underworld was first it would appear online once its bit of the display was over.
