Maggotkin: Cycle and Grandfather's Blessing

deadlydeceiver

Question

Hi there,

we had our first game including Maggotkin recently and ran right into a pretty unclear situation concerning the Cycle of Corruption.

The Cycle was on 6 (doing mortal wounds at the start of the hero phase)  and then turned to 7 (healing at the start of the hero phase) at the start of the battleround.

At the start of the Maggotkin Hero Phase the cycle heals the Maggotkin units as per corrupted regrowth (7).

The Maggotkin general then uses his Command Trait "Grandfather's Blessing" to turn the wheel back to 6 (also 'at the start of the hero phase')

The question now: Does the damage from 6 trigger right away, basically using two active effects of the cycle in the same turn, as it is still the start of the hero phase or has the" activation" of the cycle already passed when it was healing?

It'd be great to get a well-founded answer to this (please no simple 'yes' or 'no').

With thanks

DD

When a number of abilities trigger at the start of the hero phase, the player whose turn it is can choose in which order they resolve. So yes, in this case it was legal to trigger the effect of cycle 7, use grandfather's blessing to move the wheel and then trigger the effect of cycle 6. It's a very common trick amongst nurgle players.

Yes it is perfectly leagal. As long as you don’t use any abilities that are done in the main part of the hero phase you can keep using spells and abilities that are done at the start of the Hero phase.

which basically means as long as it says “at the start/beginning  of the hero phase” and not “during the hero phase” you are good to use as many as you want and in what order
