I was thinking about Warcry - its gone very quiet after the shadow stalkers release.. we were hoping they heralded new faction specific war cry boxes.. and the map had different icons on it.. then nothing. Surely due some news soon? would love a duardin kit...

They could be doing another limited mini game, they sure love those...

They are already promoting Kill Team as the skirmish game right now. They are maybe avoiding splitting the sales for that market.

And with covid most specialist games are silent except Necromunda. Blood Bowl had a new starter in 2020, but since there wasn't even a new team announced.
Plus they probably released what they prepared for year 1, but didn't know if there will be enough interest for a year 2 so don't have enough material to roll out new content asap.

Maybe in a few months

It’s only a snapshot of the rules but so far it has big sin guy vibes.

I’m also pleased that GW finally recognise the SCE weaknesses and seem to be trying to do something about it. No more losing objective control to 10 dudes popping up somewhere.

Very excited to see what else might be in store for a Scions list.

I'm pretty sure that they didn't shows us all the units after reading that article. I'm very happy now. Yay!

Really? What in that article implied to you more models?

1. They usually drop pretty obvious hints that models are coming (at least they did in the articles leading up to dragon/bird)

2. They usually don't start battletome previews until all models are revealed

3. They've done the centerpiece models, which presumably they'd save for last (why not?)

4. They literally said on social media that this was it for now.

I definitely get the feeling that new Stormcast will be a strong army from what we have seen, but I don't know if I am on board with "sin guy". Nothing looks game-alteringly powerful at the moment, from my perspective. Rather, it looks like the rules writers are finally taking the inherent challenges Stormcast face a bit more seriously.

Hopefully Warcry makes a comeback with the other Alliances present.

Gotta admit, as someone way more interested in the Kruleboyz than the Stormcast, I feel a small amount of salt reading the article.

Kruleboyz: jump through these hoops for a small chance at getting another -1 to hit! We know it's only a small chance and that they don't properly stack, but now you have 3 whole ways to potentially give -1 to hit if you're lucky. I mean come on, these are the best teasers we have!

Stormcast: want more mortals, here ya go, have a reroll for the damage while you're at it. How about tripling your ability to hold objectives? Sound good? Don't even roll for it mate, love ya.

Exaggerated for effect obviously, but still. It was hard to get excited for the kruleboyz rules teaser, especially when 2 of the 4 kruleboyz rules shown were a second and third way to give -1 to hit.

Alright, salt spent. hope we hear what the big beasties can do for kruleboyz soon, I already plan to get a sludgeraker regardless of the rules but I would like an idea of what it does beyond the streams hints, as an AoE poison buff would be massive for the kruleboys. Based on the images, what sized bases do you think the sludgeraker/sloggoth will be on? They look like 120x92mm to me, but I have seen people say they look smaller.

I'm not saying the fact they chose Skaven to mention alongside Orruks as the bad guys the SCE are defending against is a hint as to who the Chaos tome is. I'm just saying I really want it to be.

We can see what's happening

Bin guy writes Orruk warclans, enjoy your 4+ saves on heroes and +1 to hit wholly within 12 auras.

Sin guy writes stormcast, dragon on 2+ save ignoring rend, 14 inch fly and 3 cast wizard that can reroll failed casts. Dragon cav with a base 3+ save. Hallowed Knights give the whole army 4+ ward against mortals.

I'm not sure I buy into the "sin guy/bin guy" meme anyway, but it seems absurdly premature to judge the whole battletome from the fragments that GW drops. Kruleboyz' mortal wounds on everything allegiance ability is strong, and there are probably allegiance abilities we haven't seen in addition to that, so it makes sense that their subfaction abilities might not be wildly powerful.

Yeah, we should really stop with the sin guy/bin guy meme. I don't think it helps us have a healthy perspective on the game.

Personally, I am actually kinde nervous about Kruleboyz shooting units becoming a second instance of Sentinels. Although honestly, with their shorter range and not ignoring cover, they are probably a completely different beast.

The Stormkeeps look promising. What do you think?

I can see some lovely looking armies being made. I quite like the idea of stormcast fighting alongside dwarves, all in matching armour.

It doesn't help that the rules previewed are completely different in scope. Kruleboyz got a couple subfaction abilities and a couple enhancements, while Stormcast got major allegiance abilities and what's probably the main ability of an expensive centerpiece unit.

If they revealed the Sludgeraker's major poison buff, and some sort of shenanigans ambush deployment for the Kruleboyz, then revealed that Astral Templars get +1 to Wound vs. Monsters and a new mount trait for Stormcast, we'd likely be having the opposite conversation.

They're definitely not the same. Sentinels don't require line of sight, have more range, innately have -1 to hit, have more models, and can self buff to 5+ mortals without the need for an extra unit (which the orcs have to pay for and keep alive).

Sentinels are the perfect ranged unit in every aspect. Boltboyz have strong offensive capability, but still have to be properly positioned and will die to a light breeze. But I also think Sentinels should be 170-180 points, so take that for what you will.

This ^.  Comes across really bad for somebody to come across talk that their army is only ready for the bin.

Then maybe GW should stop writing books that are only ready for the bin. I think the only reason there isn't more uproar about how bad a job they've done with Slaanesh is because of how overpowered Slaanesh was previously.

There is nothing more demoralizing than painting some models you love only to see them have embarrassingly bad rules on the table.

Likewise sin guy is just as bad. There is no world in which Tzeentch or Sentinels should exist. Of course there will always be overpowered armies, but the existence of NPE rules that have no counter play shouldn't exist to begin with.

I don't really see why we shouldn't be holding GW to account and showing our annoyance as players at the balance issues which exist.

I will leave it there.
