The Rumour Thread

Could be a generic/named ghoul king, which would be cool because it could indicate a new zombie dragon for soulblight.  The only ghoul king model out there comes with that kit currently, so if they were planning on revamping it (see what I did there) it would mean they'd need a new ghoul king mini as well.

Purely speculation.

hope it's Slaves to Darkness, possibly the rumoured StD/BoC soup, because that'll give a baseline of units that the monogod armies can coalition or ally in going forward and let each of the following monogod tomes be balanced appropriately with that in mind.

I would LOVE beasts of chaos rolled into slaves to darkness. Perhaps similar to the Big Waagh! in Orruks, where the armies run seperately, but have rules for a combined force.   It just fits the great image of hordes of chaos rolling over the landscape.

I wouldn't like this at all... I just started a new army and I could not resist the call of some beast allies.

In the words of the great Joe Exotic "I am never going to financially recover from this".

Would fix the lack of 'wait so everyone else  can play with Beasts and Slaves except... Beasts or Slaves'

Also, ya know,

It'd be absolutely cool as ******

So when I was in the local GW shop the other day, the manager pointed out to me several times that all the Skaven kits were being pulled from the shelf (knowing I am a Skaven fan). This seems to suggest a repackaging or a line refresh.

isn't there only like 5 kits gw even allows on their shelves now?

They're repackaging stuff for new box style like 40k as well

That's my point. The manager was telling me about how the current display specs allow for zero kits on the shelf. So far I think 40k repacking has basically come with a Codex release (because they were updating the rules included in the boxes).

that could be cool, skaven AA definitely took a hit with 3.0

Would be cooler if they stopped dragging their feet on updating models for them too...

I'd be fine with any rules allowing Beasts of Chaos and Slaves to Darkness units to be used together, but I'd be pretty disappointed if they were all rolled into one book. They both have shown that they can be expanded separately, and while it's possible to keep the beastmen independent from the chaos gods (much like how hobgrots are part of the Orruk Warclans despite their separate ideology and true allegiance) I can't help but think that this aspect of their identity, one of my favorite developments in Age of Sigmar compared to the old Fantasy days, would be significantly limited by the two sharing a battletome. Despite this it might be one of the more loreful "soups", going back to how they were in the earlier WHFB days... nevertheless I'm hoping they stay separate.

It would be really funny and fitting if it is true. Everybody is expecting Nurgle or Beasts, but who show up? Skaven!

Sorry, Clanrats were already repackaged recently, and Verminlord, Plague furnace, Plagueclaw, also have modern AoS boxes already.  Usually things in modern packaging being pulled from the shelf is just to make room for new things and things that sell better.

If you'd just said "Stormfiends (or Thanquol) have been pulled from the shelf." I'd say "ok, they're probably getting updated packaging", because I don't think that kit has it yet.

I'm not saying that Skaven won't get some models, for sure they need some and it's gotta come at some point, just don't misread the tea leaves.

>>because they were updating the rules included in the boxes
100% guarantee you they are not going to pull modern boxes from the shelves just to stuff new rules in...

BoC and S2D currently have too many units between them to share a book, I think. I'd rather see a refreshed and expanded BoC line with coalition rules allowing them to work with Slaves to Darkness. If they were crammed into the same book, I'd expect to see a lot of old Beasts stuff disappear.

Oh I don't know...My Soulblight gravelords Battletome is 128 pages long, 72 pages of art and story, 56 pages of rules and warscrolls. I think they could include a few less bits of art and story fluff, and stuff both armies into one book without too much trouble 🤔

One thing to note is that if BoC and StD don't get souped, then it could be 2 years between when one gets a battletome and the other does.

Souping has the big advantage of getting more factions covered faster in the edition cycle.

Yeah but… why though? They’re two perfectly functional and fleshed out armies that have no need to be in the same book. Just throw in some extra coalition rules and boom, no soup needed. Plus if the trend set by the 40k Codexes are anything to go off, there is a lot less fluff in there anyway, so the last thing we lore enthusiasts need is anything like that.

Has this forum just developed a fixation on wanting factions to be souped together that have no need or reason to be lately? If there’s any STD souping happening at all it’ll probably be Chaos Duardin, not Beasties.

I dunno, most of what I see for both armies when looking at the webstore is really old plastic or resin. STD has a lot of warcry junk on there but it's hard to count that stuff. I wouldn't call any army with that much old stuff "perfectly functional and fleshed out".

GW has not really made any indication to commit to supporting BoC in the very long term with new models.  (Kragnos being put in destruction is a bit of a warning sign... )

Rolling BoC into the "Chaos Undivided" battletome could allow the more modern units to live on and let GW cut the older kits they don't want to keep supporting

But aside from Chaos Undivided there’s literally no similarity between the two armies. One’s a load of bestial animal people and the other’s are massive armoured knights and marauders. When I say “fleshed out” I mean that they have their own distinct themes, aesthetics, and rulesets that would otherwise be diluted if they were smashed together.

And yeah they are? The recent story with the Turnskin and the focus on Ghur indicates to me at least that the Beasts are gonna get SOMETHING at least imo

I know this is 40K but for those interested looks like Plastic DKOK for Kill Team will be announced tomorrow!!

Since DKOK was a Forgeworld kit line does this mean we might see other former Forgeworld exclusives turned into plastic? I am of course talking about Chaos Dwarfs.

Somewhere people mentioned that the recent squattings of FW were done because some of these things were being taken in by gw to let FW more room for their projects.

But the timing could be "pointing to something",Dkok get canned then Kill team give us at least one kit, Chorfs get the squat again and the first army of 3rd edition has a unit that has chorfs as a part of their background...

"There is no such thing as coincidence..."...perhaps?

Plus a lot of the now gone monsters,

Merwyrm, Basilisk, Carmine Dragons etc.

Tamurkhan's horde too - Nurgle release maybe?

Forgeworld becoming 'the specialist games' branch for Necromunda, Old World, HH?

Might get some hint tomorrow?

Oooooh that’d be ideal. Means we could finally get stuff like the Rogue Idol and Dreadmaw in plastic.

Repackaging or line refresh with the Ole Faithful @Whitefang reacting. You madman you tempt me so.
