what do you think there'd be in the moonclan range?

me:

- monclan gob

- fanatics

- monclan flying catapult (don't rememeber the name of the flying guys catapoulted, look fun)

- mounted moonclan gobs (on wolves? or spiders? and/or mounted squigs)

- squigs (normals)

- giant squigs

Will they include the normal gobs as in a LoN way? then we'd have catapult, archers, trolls,...

I don't think a Moonclan release will be pulling in the Gitmobs, spider fang or any other goblins. I'm expecting them to lean into squigs, mushrooms, and the cave dwelling aspect. If @LLV's information is right, plastic squigs and I would guess plastic squig riders to bring them in line with any new squigs might be a good guess, especially if they overhaul the general squig design. All the current plastic will probably remain unchanged. Of the fine cast stuff, I expect the the Mangler Squigs to stick around, and maybe the squig herders, though that they come with the current find cast squigs does complicate that. New warboss options wouldn't surprise me, at least for the mounted version and maybe a replacement for the metal on foot guy.  The metal stuff seems like it would be a prime candidate to replace, but I don't know if I could see them replacing the metal shamans with yet another shaman with the fungoid cave shaman being around. Maybe the current shaman warscroll goes away and the cave shaman warscroll be comes THE shaman warscroll for old and new alike, but that seems messy.

For brand new stuff, that's a tough one. There's all kinds of ways they could do "specialist" goblin squads, and I wouldn't be suprised to see one or two different kinds.  Even though I don't think they'll bring in gitmobs, I could see them borrowing ideas from them and doing maybe some kind of sneak assassin squad thing, but not in a hide in a unit way like the nasty skulkers(we have fanatics already), but maybe like the the skaven gutter runners. While goblins aren't usually know for having elite troops, but something fun might be to have a squad that eats special mushrooms to give them super strength. Do something like the shamans where at the beginning of the combat phase you choose to have them eat a mushroom and roll a die and on a 2+ they get an superpowered(for a goblin) stat line, but on a one, they have normal goblin stats(they have these if they don't eat the mushroom) and can't be chosen to fight. There's tones of ways GW could do specialist squads and I hope they get really creative.

Here's a rumor from over in the Shadespire area.

Apparently, the new Nighthaunt battletome mentions a 'Briar Queen'. From reddit:

"The Briar Queen - nemesis of the cursed city of Shadespire - is unleashed by Nagash to menace other lands. She is tasked with claiming certain souls that have cheated Nagash. With the aid of her spectral army - the Thorns of the Briar Queen - she visits each of the Mortal Realms, always bringing back her target's soul. Between missions the Briar Queen returns to Shadespire, for her need for vengeance there remains unsatisfied."

Perhaps, in the Shadespire wave/season 2  we see this Nighthaunt character leading the Nighthaunt warband?

I think a Nighthaunt warband was almost a given, it's nice to have some details on what direction GW might go with it. I've been expecting a squad of Cairnwraith looking guys, but she sounds like should be more interesting.

Thanks  @LLV and @Mr. White for those new rumors !

Things are getting quite exciting once again ;) SQUIG IT ON

EDIT :

@LLV Regarding the TK rumor, I think the info from Rob is not entirely correct (I guess he's you friend / one of your "contact" ; I really like him and was sad that he left GW, but that's not the point) :

As @Enoby and @Turgolhave said, GW is commercial first, so the problem with TK was 1. low sales and 2. hard to copyright. And forgetting to write rules has nothing to do with (still) selling the kits (or squatting them - Warhammer Legends is the exacte opposite) ; GW could have reintroduced them later in the fluff with adapted rules.

No, IMO the problem was commercial and IIRC an older, seniorer GW guy told precisely that on a Ask Me Anything session :

2133611718_AOSLowTKSales.png.8e4926a4c318729252f2cd011ac6a128.png

But as you said the AOS launch was a terrible mess and it's understandable that Alan Merret "left" / was fired after that. (Now if you tell me that another source of yours recently corroborated the "Rob rumor" I'll believe you 100% ?  but I'll still believe Pirinen first).

It’s confirmed with someone still at GW who lets say hasn’t been wrong yet.

On tomb kings - there were rules released. The models in the exhibition hall were revised to rounds (unlike gutbusters) - tomb kings also featured in aos armies featured in white dwarf for several months after release of game. They weren’t squatted until the release of the grand alliance death book were they? Which was several months after launch? (I may be misremembering the point from which we are saying they got done in - but I do know the range wasn’t selling)

But in any large organisation, people have perspectives or incomplete pictures of goings-on. I mean in the End Time, they destroyed Tomb Kings pretty much. If the sales were weak and their other Death GA offerings overlap a lot with Tomb Kings, so why keep them? Clearly there was a lack of direction in the transition period between fantasy and sigmar (which we're still dealing with today with the 7 skaven factions and excessive elf factions) but it cannot just  be that someone forgot. If it was an earner, they would be able to write some novel to bring them back.

I have to say...I'm a bit skeptical about this 'left out by mistake' explanation also. I mean, if that's the case, then AoS 2 would have surely been an opportune time to bring them back. The molds and models are there...all they need is a Battletome. It's as simple as a the FEC battletome. A little tweaked fluff...some warscrolls...boom new Death army and players are happy everywhere.

So, giving this story the benefit of the doubt during the AoS 1e initial release, doesn't make sense when there's been a new opportunity with a new edition.

The molds are in storage and GW are already at max capacity concerning plastic kit output. That’s why they weren’t just reintroduced.

Remember, since the stock on that line hasn’t been run in 3 years they likely have little to no stock left. Re running those molds to get enough stock for re-distribution might as well be a new release- which in gw eyes is more profitable.

Another updated "unsolved" summary, as I missed out the candle. I thought it was in the Nighthaunt releases but I can't find one that actually matches it. Lots are close but none are "right".

Caverns can get too dark for even Moonclan Grots.  If you get to a particularly deep cavern that does not have any glowing fungus then sometimes you just need a candle.

Obviously it is Grots...

I agree that if it is a Moonclan battletome then it is doubtful that they bring the other sub allegiances in.  Maybe a legions of nagash style book for some of the smaller allegiances, but Moonclan would be it's own thing.

If they do a full Moonclan release then I don't expect any of the Finecast kits to remain.  They can engineer a plastic Mangler kit so that it could make a Mangler Squig. A hero on giant squig, or a new unit of giant squig riders.  I would think that would be the route that they would go.  Similarly they could combine a plastic squig kit with some goblin models and make a kit that could build cave squigs + herders or squig hoppers.

As for heroes, I don't think they would get rid of any.  They would probably replace them with plastic kits, but I expect that the existing options will remain in some form.  Hopefully they split the warscroll for the grot warboss so that the guys with melee weapons and no giant squig can become a useful unit of some type.

The reason I think they'll keep the mangler squigs is because its a "modern"  Finecast kit as opposed to a recast of the metal stuff(thanks for the history lesson in the other thread btw) and still fits the more modern aesthetic of late fantasy and AoS and they've kept to good finecast kits in factions that where otherwise heavily overhauled(Khorne and Nurgle).

Believe me or not ... But following this info ... I just bought 20 gors. That's how excited I am right now !

Also, I still believe that the Candle is linked to Sisters of Battle. It looks a lot like the one you see on the 3D model that has been showed IMO.

I wonder how hard it is for GW to setup a made to order run of plastic vs resin/meta(I think the two batches we had for Warhammer Legends so far have been resin or metal, but I could be wrong).  If there's not a manufacturing hurdle, I would be more surprised if they didn't comeback as a limited made to order run. Agreed that at this point they'd do a new release rather that full scale manufacturing for a full release and at this point I don't see them narratively slotting the Tomb Kings back in.

You know what? I waited 2 month to get the dire wolves (out of stock at GW). Then they were again available (friday last week). ordered asap (the same day,  last week). They are now, AGAIN out of stock at GW, they were available only 3 days :(9_9O.o

Plastic? Nearly impossible, gw maxed out their capacities so hard, if so much as a minor hick up occurs, major releases are in trouble and might get pushed back. And it isn't even their own fault in parts at least.

Resin on the other hand is quite doable and we had one or two tomb king models as made to order when nighthaunts dropped.

nope. I waited for dire wolves, took 20 (2 boxes) and I must say that they really fit beter in a death army that other wolves that look just like wolves.

Yeah, while I don't like the dire wolves models, regular wolves look too.. regular. I ended up going with wild wargs from their Middle Earth stuff, and while they don't look dead, they do look just weird enough that they don't look like plain old wolves.
