The Rumour Thread

Recommended Posts

If anyone cares, the Vermintide 2 trailer came out today. Not aos but might be of interest.

Caught me off guard as it will be fighting not just skaven but chaos marauders and mutants too :0

Also you can play as loads more classes eg dark elf shade and dwarf slayer.

I was hoping that we’d see a nurgle battletome and some new nurgle mortals this side of Christmas, but Im slowly losing all hope (how fitting). Seems to me, we may get a couple of new factions early next year, which annoys me somewhat cause I was hoping to treat myself for Christmas. But oh well, better late than never I guess.

Ps I have no evidence for this and damn I hope I’m wrong.

Like how most rumors start, there wasn't anything concrete. But there were a few things that pointed to the potential of a Nurgle Release:

  • Tzeentch got the Disciples Book
  • Khorne (which previously had a book in Bloodbound) got a book (Blades of Khorne)
  • Unlike Slaanesh, Nurgle is believed to have GW's silent blessing to exist
  • No Allegiance Rules in GHB2017 (Again, unlike Slaanesh)
  • 40K Death Guard release
  • Mention by GW that Poxwalkers would not be present in AoS, but AoS would be receiving something different

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Blightwar is what they have for Nurgle. There is still November left to go though.

Ben Johnson said on the Warhammer TV stream an hour ago that Nurgle will get something soon.

They also repeated what I last posted in this thread there won’t be any real news until the Studio broadcast at Blood & Glory in November.

Just to be 100% clear he was asked by the chat if there will be more nurgle news he said “probably” then looked at the camera and gave a smile raising both eyebrows.

Okay cool, so like, 2.5 weeks until we get some news...I can live with that.

I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about a Nurgle release on the horizon.

I am just reading through this months White Dwarf, and there was a little mention about one of the sculpters who did one of the new Death Guard models, and something else for Nurgle that they weren't quite ready to mention yet (Possibly implying a new Great Unclean one?).

I get the feeling that the Blightwar stuff was just a taster of stuff to come for Nurgle. If I had to guess, perhaps January will be Deathrattle followed by a Nurgle release after.

A message was recently posted on facebook by my local games store in Korea.

While referring specifically to large models such as baneblades etc, it may go some way to explain why aos hasnt seen a heap of new models recently.

Google translates the message as:

We will provide you with information on large model arrival with many inquiries recently. At present, Games Workshop is in short supply of all products due to high demand. As we announced earlier this year, we have expanded the existing 12 injection machines to 15 units. However, after the launch of Dark Imperium, it is difficult to keep up with the volume of orders. In the case of large models such as Vane Blade / Storm Wave, it takes about four times the production time of general models because it uses slide molds, which take a long time for mold replacement and injection before and after production. Therefore, for the smooth production of other products, these products are temporarily discontinued. GW currently has three more injection machines, but has failed to start because of the dangerous consumption of Lenton's power plant at its headquarters, and in February 2018, scheduled to upgrade local transformers and power grid systems in the city of Nottingham It is not possible to use the facility until. Therefore, large models may resume production in the first half of 2018. However, due to increased orders, the schedule may be further delayed. Thank you.

Wow, that's pretty major.  Being maxed out on power is also a massive blow.  It does make sense on the number of items going temporarily out of stock too.

Well that's one the things that happens more often, long story short, delays for miniature production happen due to this. Having a looking inside any factory gives you an idea of how things can go wrong or can't be kept up with due to high demands. Offcourse this is still incredibly good new for Games Workshop as it means there is no massive stock overhead either, an indication of things not going so well (WFB had this).

However Im happy with the insight, as it indeed could still very well mean that there are no real new significant releases ahead. Keep in mind the December days are comming up and having startersets in stock for christmas most certainly is important for the American and European markets.

Very interesting. I had heard that production was maxed out, but stopping making big kits is new. I wonder how long this has been on the cards and has anything to do with desicion to do a lot of book releases for 40k but relatively few miniatures.

I'm 100% certain the awnser to that is yes. But 40K is a different beast as AoS, the line is larger and the releases there have actually continued non-stop. In addition there is a larger fanbase. The only reason as to why the Codex' are comming out like crazy is because GW doesn't want any delay in players gearing up for this new edition. This is also why the Index allready give everybody an army to play with. The 8th edition change has been quite massive compaired to the last 3 editions that came before that.

The thing is though, there are enough digital sculpts and concept arts at GW but not every design makes it to the factory, I'd say about 80% actually doesnt but the concepts and designs are there so they can fall back on it for other games or moments when this kind of stuff happens.

It could also very well be the reason as to why Shadespire was suddenly given the green light and more or less came out of nowhere. The game has great design and I think it was simply waiting for a moment like this. A moment where several factory demands stacked up so something good but small had to come to keep GW in the picture of players. Smaller compagnies would simply have stopped producing something new for a while. But with the pace GW is going something always has to lay around to be a backup.

Even the designers of Shadespire mention that the model designs of the Warbands where well finished and laying around and more or less where the ideal 'tokens' for that game so they decided to flesh it all out.

On the firestorm live video they said that firestorm is the first of many similar campaign boxes, and they will do other ones in other realms. was also nice to hear the design rationale behind the content.

So it seems they see these campaign boxes as an extra route to bring in more allegiance abilities and flesh out more towns and geographies.

In a few years time we are gunna have soooo many allegiance abilities to pick from, its gunna be ace.

This is good to hear. I heavily committed my home terrain and mats to Chamon, so look forward to a campaign box set there.

Hopefully with more campaign boxes they will focus a bit more on the other GAs. We know Shyish has some cities populated with ghouls and vampires, for example. And IIRC one of the Silver Towers in Chamon had a whole city built around it.

Yeah the constant order/stormcast focus is nauseating. Needs more diversity.

Just off the latest Twitch stream.

  • FW appear to have appointed or have almost appointed somebody to head their AoS team
  • Fimir could well be another couple of years away before we see anything
  • Khornate Chaos Dragon should be out next year, they weren't happy with the Korne Lord so have redone him a number of times

In the process of creating it.  No idea what this will mean, but there will be a team of people dedicated to AoS in the same way as they've got a team for Lord of the Rings and Specialist Games.

Finaly! Maybe FW will make all the different Kharadron skyvessels GW teased in the Battletome.
