Far as I know they are affecting Canada and USA for certain, but likely are rolling out all over the world. Basically expect a rise in prices on some products.

The price rises are coming to the UK as well, be a good time to get any of those models you were ‘one day’-ing.

Or even better find them on eBay, like the Lord or Change I finally got myself.  Take that GW!

Yep.  Darksphere (a UK store) already has the new prices up on their webstore.

We've heard nothing on Warcry in a while, that said I would guess this is the timeline:

Sunday 7th - sneak peak preview

We might get some details during this week.

Saturday 13th - up for pre-order

Almost guaranteed that we'll get loads of details and previews this week

Saturday 20th - up for sale at GW event. Full details on that release, possible hints as to some future releases might be forthcoming.
Note on this day I'm also expecting to see some more previews for the next wave of AoS releases since once Warcry is out we basically have everything GW has previewed. This might include release details on Sylvanath if their stuff has broken out of the trade deadlock.

Post release details and further followup articles.

I'm with you.

Also people are saying that on the 23rd there is some revelation about Marines.

The weird thing is that warcry is not 2 weeks pre-order. And a single week to talk about 15 bands, lore, and gameplay, it is not long

The non-chaos warbands (9 I think at launch) likely won't be a prime focus because they will just be rules within the book/pack itself. The Chaos warbands are the only ones getting new models specifically for Warcry so the others are just paperwork. Worth paying attention too by all means, but not necessarily requiring a massive focus of their own.

GW could make Warcry 2 weeks pre-order; nothing stops them save their own choices and release structure.

Well, I like that argumentation, but on the other side having custom warbands for each factions for the game that get a release over time seems also like a possible way to go.

To be honest I am a bit concerned how the other factions are going to be included lorewise.

Imagine, alpeaks, Archaon finaly standing up from his Throne, shouting at the next Gaunt Summoner:
"Hell yeah! That is the Idea! I will make a Team-Deathmatch-tournament to find new Champions! All this "best of the best" stuff for my Varanguard was boring all along! Who can we invite?"

-"Well, the Goretide, Skullfiend Tribe, the Rotbringers..."

"Yeah, all these boring dudes are at all my parties anyway. Anyone interesting?"

-"Um...there are several Tribes of highly specialised Tribesmen spread across the realms, who fight every day for survival in the harsh conditions of their realms"

"Nice, whom else?"

-"Well....these are all the different Factions of Followers of the Dark Gods"

"I want one of these green things!"

-"An Orruk? I am not quite sure if an Orruk qould leave Gork and Mork behind, althrough they would be great servants to Kho.."

"No! Not these. The small Stabby ones!"

-"Gits?!"

"Yeah! They are awesome, fightning all along on shrooms! Oh and I want the Shark-Dudes!"

-"I am not sure if the Idone.."

"AND NAKED DWARFS! These guys are insane, I love them!"

-"Archaon, my Lord, I am worried abou.."

"Can we invite Nagash? I want the nerd to see my awesome "Who´s gonna be the next worth Champion"-Party! But don´t allow him to compete, his magic tricks are boring. Now you´re alive, now you are dust...Nerd, thinks that this is funny"

-"..."

"Oh and invite Sigmar, too! Last time we partied that guy got so drunk that he throwed his hammer at me and lost it! Heard that he reforged a whole chamber only to make them forget this story. Looove him!"

On the subject of price increase, they are straight up gouging. Why is the Lord of Change going up $25? Is it solely because new Demons (Keeper of Secrets, GUO) are $140? That's an absolutely ludicrous reason considering those things coming out at $140 were already ludicrous. GW is playing a dangerous game with the pricing of their products. How long until the community as a whole say "Enough is enough, we are not just wallets for you to pillage".

Bits and pieces of the community do gradually leave to 3rd party and recasts after every price hike.  (Forge World has pushed their prices so far, that I would hazard to guess that at least 1 in 3 models you see on the tabletop are not even genuine.  Obviously 300 dollar models simply do not work for most budgets))

However, GW seems to be mostly making up for their player losses between the new player influx and the profits off of price hiking the remaining players.

In summary: It is without a doubt that GW would reach a much larger customer base if they were more reasonable with their prices, but they are still somehow sustaining even with these prices and sadly will likely only continue to increase.

There are loads of short stories in Inferno that work to this - heck even the novella War Queen sets up how you can get different factions fighting. Basically it seems that once a Khorne Warlord reaches a certain point of power within a region they tend to settle down, build a huge fortress and then spend their days searching the land for new people to capture and put into endless round after round of brutal fights to find the strongest.

So all this would require is some strong lord to capture the non-chaos based factions and throw them to the pit every day to fight it out. The winner of all likely being the next War-Leader to take the Khorne army further than its current lord has managed. Unknowingly being twisted by the powers of the Dark Gods through each round of the fight.

And they could also want to stop those chaos tribes. If you would know that some small enemy forces are heading to the Varanspire to bolster the ranks of Archaon's horde, wouldn't you want to ambush them before they manage to arrive in the fortress?

It is simple supply and demand. Gw is struggling to keep up with demand. They have two options, either increase supply or increase prices to reduce demand. The new factory is a long term project which still hasn’t been completed and may be behind schedule, so they have decided to increase prices. The only way to stop this trend is for all of us to stop buying minis.

Not relaying anything negative towards you, it's just that you put it succinctly, so I felt that your comment would be ideal to quote.

I have an idea, how about GW stops botching all of their long term outlooks for a quick buck.  Raising prices like this is absolutely ridiculous.  They have done nothing to these models for them to earn a price increase.... NOTHING!  Blame China, blame this, blame that, last year it was FW and their insane price increase because of REASONS.  Sylvaneth is just lost in the shuffle, not to mention all of these other battletomes that are supposed to be releasing this year.

It's rather hilarious that this is just accepted by the Warhammer community.  GW has a new factory coming, that should mean better pricing.  Oh wait, it's heavily delayed, better raise the price of older models to gouge loyal players.  We get rekt because GW just can't do what they say they're going to do and instead they insert an excuse that fits the bill because REASONS.

There's an economic concept called inflation that dictates that pretty much everything increase in cost (and value, to an extend) over time. A kit that was released 5 years ago with no price increase is now a little over 10% underpriced. So once in a while you need to rise prices to keep the price of older kits in line with the newer products.

There's also externalities to take into account: the cost of materials (mostly plastic, but also paper and cardboard), shipping, maintenance of installation, salary of employees... all of those have more than likely risen in the last few years. Brexit probably doesn't help, but it's hard to tell how much of an effect it has. It certainly cause uncertainty in the markets which is never a good thing.

And that new factory means they took a VERY big loan that will need to be repaid. The factory isn't online yet, and I doubt they built it to reduce cost, more than likely it's just to increase production.

SKAVEN PESTILENS VERMINLORD

What do you think of this theory...

Verminlords are very popular with skaven players both cause they are cool and also because they are powerful. In response GW puts up the price 10%. Given this do we think the points nukes that everyone is predicting will be less significant than feared? I mean, whats the point of jacking up the price of something and dramatically increasing the points? Demand might survive 1 but not both. I suspect we might be fairly relaxed about the points change. Maybe 20 for all except the warpseer go might go to 300?

Yeah that's rather a surprise on so many core troop boxes, esp as many are not all that cheap and a bulk sellers too

Unless that is just the local seller upping their prices from already discounted prices to try and spread the price rise load

Yeah one big thing GW have been utterly fantastic on is avoiding holding debt. It leaves them in a very robust position when financial times get hard. A lot of big brand firms have come unstuck when they've built up high debts during good times then a recession hits and they are killed by the interest on huge loans that they can't repay in time.

It's one of their smartest choices in the market and it leaves them in a good position because any step they make is basically not tied to having to repay it back. Sure losses are still losses, but it means if the new factory fails then they are not left paying for that mistake for decades after.

The main corporate entity might have no debt on it's balance sheet, but that doesn't mean there aren't loans for factory construction.  The loans could be held by a US subsidiary, and not necessarily reported as a liability on the Games Workshop balance sheet.

From what I gather the GW publicly published financial reports don't suggest that they use such a method. Because its on the stock market they have to be public with their finances. Even if they offloaded it they'd still have to declare it.

Personally I think they will do this, they've done it with Kill Team introducing a new unit for Ad Mech and Genestealers so I don't see why they wouldn't do it for Warcry as well down the line.

It's nit-picking but I figure they didn't add those using "too killteam" but instead took models that were going to get general release and simply released them "through" killteam in the short term with a long term view that they can just port them over to regular army sales later if they want.

It's a subtle difference but its different to how they added the character warbands for Shadspire.

That said they could well do that for warcry, it would certainly be a neat way to deliver the models and its honestly what I half think they are doing with the chaos components already (esp as we can clearly see furies in Warcry which are already a core army choice)

Your list doesn't make nearly as much sense as the original

The other list was making greater daemons all the same price, rounding up weird uneven prices to $5 usd increments, bumping up some older kits to be more comparable to modern kits (people perceive things as not being as good if the price is too low.... ), etc.  While the price increases sucked, all the ones on the original list pretty much made sense to me.

I personally am making my decisions/purchases on the first list
