Warhammer Weekly is having some live discussion at 4pm UK time.  He says that there was a bunch of stuff left out of the preview post.

edit-

This is via Twitter.

Oh? Hope it gets added to the preview blog and it's not tied to ONLY the Twitch live channels...

Warhammer Weekly is not a GW run thing.  It is hobbyist driven.  You can find them on YouTube and Twitter.

The armor at the side looks like Wanderers to me:

If this turns out to be a Wanderers warband that would be great.  At the very least we get a new unit and it would make a Battletome just that little bit more likely.  I'll take whatever crumbs fall from GW's banquet table.

Did they actually explain the separate Pitched Battle Profiles 2019 book anywhere?  Looking at the picture, it looks like it's a much smaller book with a saddle stitch binding they used for cheap books(Path to Glory and Skirmish) and box set books. Hopefully it's a cheap thing where you can buy the points only, but they'll still be in the GHB. If not, I'd probably still skip it and use Warscroll builder exclusively for points.

They are going to be sold as a package with the GHB.

I think the 1000 points mode could be cool

I'm very interested to see how that works out. I like 1000 point games in theory, but in practice that point level seems to have much larger swings in army power level and game over all seems to be better balanced at 2000 points.

1000 points work all right for most games. My local group plays 1000 points all most exclusivly. We have strong armies like LoN, IDK or DoK, older armies like Iron Jawz and even a few legacy forces. Most games are balanced, only our local tournament player skews this from time to time.

So if we really are getting one new battletome for each grand alliance this year, that means a brand new death faction and either slaves to Darkness or a brand new chaos faction this year.

Over the summer we will probably see a slight slowdown of releases as the big things will be contrast, forbidden Power, apocalypse with chaos Knights and warcry. Then we will get new factions in the autumn, probably shown off at the nova preview in August.

I think summoning is wonky at 1k.

What about Tzeentch for Chaos ?

Don't forget the UK games expo in two weeks (maybe Kill Team : Inquisition and WHU : Season 3).

The chaos tome could be Tzeentch.

So much saltiness here you’d think they’d unveiled new IDK Dead Sea Warscrolls...

Well, I think it's because this is the Warhammer Fest preview. That should propably be the biggest Preview of the year, but this one rather pales to some of the others we had this year. This would have been an excellent round of reveals on a smaller event or if 40k had the big thunder. But neither is the case here.

Well, that was disappionting.

Stormvault are still in TEASING  after 6 months.

Another TEASING of warband of warcry, aka a spin-off game that i don't care about

The TEASING of a single mini of a warband of ANOTHER spin-off game

And that's all. We are still waiting for the darkoaths. Since the gitz, and with the sole exception of slaneesh, we had nothing except reddition of armies wth 1 terrain, 3 spells and one new model. Last year we had Nurgle, DOK, LON and idoneth back to back + malign portent.

We have only a super long teasing of specialist game and nothing properly NEW about AOS.

Disappointed. 30k had more new things than AOS/40K combined. 40k having... two tanks (including the copy past of another one), imperial knights WITH SPIKES and about the SoB... the same mini as shown nearly one year ago, but with paint !

I think the main problem is (at least for it is for me) is they over hype these reveals days. They  get everyone buzzing about something new and exciting and we end up every time being shown stuff they have teased for months, with maybe a couple of new models. We have a date for warcry, but still nothing to go on what the game/box will contain. I know they do this too get people to buy it before anything negative comes out after release or after the buzz is gone. But after the awful shadow war, then necromunda and then kill team releases, I won't be buying warcry based one buzz (especially since the game still isn't grabbing me other than as a source of bits for skirmish).

Today would have been a perfect day to show a demo game or run through some of the narrative/background.

Even the cat model isn't that exciting on it's own, as there is no context for it. With the 40k models you know exactly what forces the new models are for instantly, even if they didn't tell you. They don't seem to want to have people getting excited for a new army/warband/whatever in advance, but this seems limited to AoS. 40k has the issue of being well established, so even if they didn't want people to know it tends to be pretty obvious. But as an adult, with finances and with so many other model companies out there, an out of context model doesn't grab me the way GW probably want it too.

(and as a total personal opinion on this too: I hate guessing games/surprises. I get drawn into it here as it's all we are given to go one and I like being excited for the hobby. But even outside the hobby, I hate presents & surprises. I find them emotionally draining and unpleasant. I'd be more inclined to be excited if they didn't try to be so secretive over everything. Other wargames companies are straight forward and direct.)

Are they doing an AoS Open Day this year? Could be why things have been held  back.

Remember they don't like announcing things for mainline games (40k/AoS) that are over (roughly) a month away from being released, which isn't a great span of time.
