The Rumour Thread

Trade mark law is the only one which has to be protected or they can lose the right.

It makes sense to me what gw are doing. (I'm an IP specialist).

Trade mark = protects brands or "badges of origin"

Copyright = protects artistic work. Copyright protects the expression, not the idea though. Which is a whole thing in and of itself.

Patents = inventions

Designs = shape of products. Usually the shape of like a chair or phone etc. There is an overlap with copyright here. But designs usually are required when things are industrially applied (mass made). But judges will bend copyright often to cover this.

Plant breeders rights = plant varieties

Can't wait for the non-chaos warbands for Warcry.(Which seems to have gone a bit under the radar, actually.) Gonna get me some more DoK!

Do you mean new models? Because I don’t think that’s gonna happen. GW said you can play 9 non-Chaos factions at launch. As far as I know, they haven’t said anything else about it. I think it’s much more likely that you will be able to use existing models to play.

It seems pretty clear to me that Warcry is all about Chaos and that the other factions were more of an afterthought to ensure other fans didn’t get too upset.

I think GW specifically said non-Chaos would use existing models.

Regarding the new Contrast painting stuff, Kirioth on YouTube has some sources saying that it's a new range of paint that dry dark in the recess and light on the edges, like Hexwraith Flame and Nighthaunt Gloom. So sort of a thick ink. I think it would make a lot of sense(more sense than a branded airbrush), and since I *LOVE* Hexwraith Flame, I'm pretty excited! These paints are amazing with an airbrush.

Seems to be right!

check the new Ruins and look closely, it at least the shades on the steps‘ recesses  seem different.

It's certainly chaos flavoured, but I doubt the non-chaos warbands were an afterthought. People were quick to assume that it was only chaos based on the initial reveal. However, the time required to develop and playtest rules for the other warbands makes it unlikely they were an afterthought.

Hang on @RexHavoc,  Footsore Miniatures said they received a request to change their name and worked with Games Workshop to reach a satisfactory conclusion. This is from the own press release. This is nothing like  Chapterhouse. It was Dark Peak Games who served a cease and desist on them.

To everyone else, I am sorry to make a post like this because it has nothing to do with rumours. I just thought you were being a little unfair in your last post Rex. Anyway, probably a topic  for discussion in another place on the forum.

Man, admech transports, something I been wanting for years, AND an awesome warcry band!?

Games workshop I already sold one kidney, I need the second one.

The only thing I don't like is the gimp masks on the scrawny Bois for the warcry band. It's just too wierd for me to be honest. Easily fixed probably.

I had so much hope for 40k once. It seems like everyone gets what they want except xenos. None of the major wants were ever listened too for orks lol except the buggy. No truly new xenos factions either everything is a boring sub-faction release. Sigmar is getting interesting new factions left right and center. New Primaris lore destroyed my Deathwatch crew lore and with xenos so irrelevant to the setting I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before Deathwatch will have to be redesigned to fight chaos more. It would take a holy miracle to get me to care about nu-40k again.

Maybe that's because the whole Aos is generally new I guess

Yep GW said they'd have rules but no models at all, which makes sense. I think the next place for new DoK would be with an eventual Shadspire Warband.

Eh I am looking forward to that. The same 5 witch aelf bodies can only be posed so much without resorting to significant chopping right now...

Heard a rumour on Twitter about what this Contrast™ is. Supposedly it'll be some kind of multi-tone paint that has shading and highlighting all on one layer. The source says the Iron Golems warband is painted with only one layer of this new paint.

I'm not sure if I buy it myself, but it's at the least an interesting theory and I thought I'd share it.

I can believe that about the iron golems. GW , apart from stormcast, do not really do metal armour using their metallic paints and while there are highlights, mainly on the weapons, they are not the same level you would expect from GW . That could be all base colours and then very controlled new contrast paint.

Look at the warcry band from yesterday, highlights on everything. Compare the finger joints and stomach muscles. That is how they normally do skin.

While it is a rumor and what not, if those Iron Golems were truly painted with one layer of the contrast paint, that is a truly impressive product. Sure, the Iron Golems pictured won't win a Golden Daemon, but if you can get those type of metallic and skin results with only a single layer of paint that is pretty awesome. If it is fairly straightforward to use it would allow just about everyone to get models painted to a good standard (provided they have a somewhat steady hand) with very little time investment.

I consider myself a pretty good painter (not great by any means) but I would still be very interested in Contrast if those are the results it produces. It would speed up my glacially slow rate of painting immensely.

Afterthought is maybe not the best choice of word. I mean like a secondary consideration. Chaos is the hero of the piece.

I think his point is that AoS has such a refreshing diversity of releases. I know I genuinely get excited to see what the next AoS faction is, be it an updated Battletome or whole new army, just because everything is so different.

Whilst Stormcast do receive plenty - more than they should in my opinion - at least it's a fair bet that not every other release will be for them, unlike 40k, where we're all but guaranteed to get a Marine  release, followed by a Chaos release, followed by a Marine, and so on.
