JPjr Posted June 12, 2019 Share Posted June 12, 2019 (edited) Like the absolute idiot, scatterbrained, hobby butterfly/magpie I am even the basic new Meeting Engagement rules we've seen have got me excited about starting a few new smaller armies over the next 12 months. So anyway I've just ignored all the work I have to do and spent the past hour daydreaming about what to start (and also ignoring my existing Gloomspite and Nighthaunt armies that need to be finished 🤔). I figured the best and cheapest way to start would, obviously, be with the Start Collecting kits so had a look through all these and put the details into one place (where there's more or less models provided than is regulation for that unit I've just given the points for them as if they were 1 regulation min sized unit). Also there were a fair few of the sets that give you a few options which I've noted where it was obvious and I could be bothered (hey no one's paying me to do this, in fact quite literally the opposite). So keeping in mind people can also have 1 unit of up to 200 points of Allies (so maybe from your existing collection) what would you add to these to have a cheap and fun (not necessarily super-duper smash face tournament winning) little army for a 1000pt game that hits the requirements (so minimum of 4 units including 1 Leader and 2 Battleline)? I'm definitely thinking a BCR, Beasts of Chaos or Tzeentch army might lay in my future, or of course something that can be knocked through with the new contrast paints quickly, FEC for instance... So what are you thinking? Meeting Engagements is a great concept and hopefully will scratch the same itch that Kill Team did for 40k - inspire people to try an army that has taken their interest previously but never acted upon it. GW are trying to sell off the StD Godsworn box (they had quite a few at Warhammer World when I went recently) which could be interesting... Kramer Posted June 12, 2019 Share Posted June 12, 2019 I think the tricky bit with KO is. You will need to by arkanauts and most likely won’t use the gunhauler much. It’s a fun unit just a bit meh, and you’ll replace it as soon as you can. Also if your looking for a fun list you most likely want to add a frigate. Because... dwarf zeppelin. So I think the set allows fun KO lists but I doubt the SC will help you out much. Although for the thunderers and skywardens/endrinriggers you could use two!
