Fellow children of the Horned Rat! After about 20 years of absence from the hobby, I found my way back to my beloved Skaven. Drinking your wisdom from hundreds of pages of discussions, I am search-ask you for your advise how to develop my army.

Currently I have a lot of clan rats (and slaves), but basically lacking all war machines and monsters. The idea of the army below is to be able to deal with every threat, more or less... In case of shooting death star, I warp grind one unit of clan rats incl. the WFT close to the enemy and burn-kill everything. For alpha strike, I try board control where the giant rats are working as speed bumps. Counterattack will be done by curse/ratlings and gnash-gnaw/death frenzied clanrats. I hope that mortals spam with curse will help to kill something...

That is an amazing list.

In a lucky situation, this list could definitely deal with anything,

Yet I fear-fear that your rattling guns may fail in a situation, where your enemy runs around with a 2+ save ignoring rend -1.

But personally the list looks good.

you have a good amount of bodies on the table, while still having some good options for killing.

If there was a more fluffly/ hard hitting list, yours would be one of them.

Thanks to @Megahurtz I think I found a least I might try out on the next upcoming tournament, if I can get all of those still missing giant rats painted and have 2 more rattling guns build till then.

Thank you very much! Was running a similar list in old WFB times with some success. The idea vs a 2+ save is plague or WFT. But yes, have to be lucky that everything is working properly. Especially against bigger monsters... Maybe develop the Claw Lord more against high saves/monster killer. And maybe the high amount of hidden weapon teams will worry the frenemies and force mistakes.

Pretty funny, but very high risk. You need to have the bombardier and the priest with the ratlings in order to have max. effect. The deceiver can only teleport one, I believe.

I really would love to have some verminlords and rat ogors in there, was my original idea as well. However, not enough points to have an army with some punch. If mixing everything, you might not have enough punch vs. high saves. This is what I try to fix with the plague priests.

But with the Warbringer casting DDF (hopefully 3 times with a lucky D3 roll) on my 60 Clanrats who are re-rolling 1’s, and have an extra attack thanks to the clawlord, I’m hoping for death by a thousand cuts 😂

Did that with stormvermin and against gotrec... Only took 3 Wounds... Realy sucked when that happened dident eaven role bad, thankwell survived 1 round of combat against the angry ginger dwarf though (with 1 wound remaining) and won the game in the end with a warbringer, only 2 models left on from my army... Prize sourcer payed off, fireslayers don't like rats...

Some good looking Skyre there :D Gutted i sold my own Skyre force years ago!

Still, rolled out my Eshin for a lil test prior to our Campaign weekend and it went... ehhh :P

My List (Very limited by the initial Campaign mode restrictions, max 6 units and nothing over 300pts!) :

600pts
Warlord Battalion

Deathmaster
General, Cube of mists

Deathmaster
The 3 Fangs

Deathmaster

20 Night runners

10 Night Runners

5 Gutter runners

Coming up against:

Vampire Dragon Centaur

5 Blood Knights

10 Skeletons (Possibly summoned)

Fighting over objectives down the centre line.

I reasoned i couldnt outrun such a fast force so moved up to focus fire on his general, knocking off a couple of wounds before getting smooshed on the charge pretty much!

All 3 assassins had a go at the general to no use, only for my Three Fangs to instagib it in my next  shooting phase much to everyones shock :D

Unfortunately despite some early VPs from objectives the Blood Knights unstoppably mowed through my units one at a time and i could never get enough damage to stick past their regen to even slow them down really.

Fun game, but i realised i cant let them charge, even risky long ones need to speedbump better and looking forward to the 1000pt bracket when i can fit a verminlord!

Yeah, but as a skavenplayer risk is what makes my daily bread😜.

also, the deceiver is just their to get the plague priest up, more then 6away from the enemy, to get his curse spell of on one enemy unit.

the warlock bombardier should be able to use jump from one gnawhole to another.

with the rest of the army tunneling up in the first round, I should be able to get a ton of shooting done, without much of a thought.

whatever foe has been cursed won’t survive too long

Try this on a cursed target, so squeeze in a plague priest! With a thousand paper cuts, we cannot kill anything meaningful at the moment 😞

For taking risks, I rather risk to blow my stuff up 🙂 But really curious how this goes for you!

Good luck with your next game! Think about more bodies (clanrats) and maybe some weapon teams!

How and why are you doing the conversion? I’ve just ordered 2 ratling guns from my local store for only £9.50 each. Do people not like the metal sculpt?

Just to get some personal touch in.

And well I really dislike the look of the current metal weapon teams. (Excluding the warp-grinder team)

they just look too much like a monkey, and I’m here to play rats.

Happy New Year to everyone!

But back to business: What do you think about these conversation kits https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/battlebits/battle-bits-ratmen-conversion-parts, available here https://strataminiatures.com/shop/?store-page=Globerat-Conversion-Set-Resin-p222152124? Suitable or not? What about competitions?

Amazing.

definitely suitable, and as for competition, it is gw’s own fouled for ignoring the updating of the skaven.

so if the competition is needed to get gw off of their butts, then yes, this is a good option no matter what

For competitions like tournaments and painting competitions it is largely up to the TO but most TO's follow "mostly GW mini's" followed by the rule of cool. I was told once that as long as a random person familiar with the army could reasonably understand what model represents which unit without much explanation you are good. But again... Up to the TO
