Hey ya Gitz,

I am thinking about starting a new AoS army and want some input from experienced Gloomspite players. The whole idea is to take a slow approach and not buy a large amount of models and have them sitting around and be soon after forgotten about. So I just planed the first 500 points and an expansion to 1000 points.

Without further ado here is the 500p starting list.

Took this today to a tournie and went 2-0-1 I managed to off three keepers in one game across a turn and a half which is was pretty amused by

So, it's not going to be absolute top tier but it should sit comfortably around the mid tables. To be honest the random movement only does that anyway so no worries there.

So go through it quickly and bring up some of the more subtle choices.

First and most obvious is the battalions. You have 3! That's a ridiculous amount but it makes you a 1 drop and means you can reroll all your movement rolls for the bounderz and hoppers.

Squig hoppers in 5s so they can rush about and grab objectives, they shouldn't be fighting. Don't forget they you roll a dice for each hopper which passed over a chosen unit with 4+ being a mortal. This works out at about ~10 passive mortals a turn for moving.

Mangler and manglerboss for all that ridiculous damage they can do with the manglerboss using a turtle build.

SoJ on the boingboss. This is because once per game you can pop the recap mushrooms to rr all hit rolls fishing for those tasty 6s. Betrayers crown is a horde killer and spell mirror because you have the 4th artefact.

The army is deceptively quick with your slowest unit moving 2d6+3 with your boingboss CA which fortunately you have an ungodly amount of cps to burn with. This is especially great with the new ghb CA, having both manglers with RR1s to hit and +1 to wound is horrific.

More importantly it should be a laugh to play requiring a lot of skill, technical ability and luck to win with. 

Best part is your opponents face when you say "3 battalions".

Attending my First tournament. It‘s only 1250 points and no  Realm artefacts. What do you think? My First thought is that the vanilla mangler is at this smalish scale overkill (but 2 or soooo much fun) or if the battalion is worth it. I Need more bodies and can swap in more hoppers or Herds. Idk if i should drop the 2nd mangler or the battalion or both in Exchange for model count...

hello, need help with first AOS army. im have for now Looncurse box, 1 mangler squig, 2 shadespire bands (mollog and zarbag)and one fungus shaman

im thinking about buy box of boingrots and make something like this for 1000pts:

2 fungal shamans

loonboss on magler squig

2x6 squig herd as battleline

2x10 boingrots

 

can you help me otimise my list? that im need to buy and not die painting 60+ stabbas? in our club we play 1000+/-250 points

Hi,

What do you think about this list?

The 60 grots supported by the loonboss and the snufflers are the anvil.

Skragrott as general because he is awesome XD

Fungoid is useful to be able to gain some extra command points (I dont have batallions)  and more spell slots (I want to include green spite and hand of gork without depending on the cauldron)

The 2 party spiders sinergize well with hand of  gork (they can reroll charles) and, along with the mangler, are the hammer of the army.

They deal about the same amount of damage over a turn as stabbaz with spears. Most opponents don't bother sending anything against units of 20 of them so you can late game hand of gork them onto objectives at full strength usually

New Squig based list idea.  On the fence about the Stampede but the movement rerolls will probably be good for the Bounderz. Can the ManglerBoss be included in the battalion?

i was thinking this list over in my head as I have 40 squigs why not run 8 units of 5 so the losses to battle shock arnt as bad.  If I was to be playing my squigs in the first place it would be to have fun so not scoring in objectives with big blobs of gobbos wouldn’t bother me. I could run the two or three bigger units to contest with numbers but squigs main flaw is battleshock and sometimes there isn’t a character or command point to make the unit immune.  With many units perhaps a few will make it where the skitterleap -2 to hit mangler squigs pull a distraction carnifex.

 I like the idea of MSU squigs but I figured I would ask the internet what you guys think.

It's your call. My comment was due to the fungoid being almost always better than the madcap.

Only exception would be if the madcap has a madcap artefact as fungoids can't take them. Given that you have 10 points spare the straight upgrade for your second madcap is just good.
